Lmao FFIX is so great that this article couldn't bring itself to trash something within the game like you being forced to use Trance when the mere reaches max, but rather it focused on a strategy guide for the game itself.

I am entertained.

One thing that I HATE about ff9 that I forever hold against it (but was corrected in the remaster) is the 30 seconds you have to wait before every battle begins while the camera pans around the map.

It didn't happen in ff7 or ff8; battles began right away there. There's 30 seconds of waiting before every battle begins!

Not sure why you're being downvoted for this. Maybe people just haven't played FFIX for a while, so they don't remember how slow the battle intro was? Because, yeah, it really was a bit unnecessary to introduce the same battle area EVERY time you encounter an enemy.

Final Fantasy 9 is a masterpiece and one of the greatest games ever made.

Ha! This is amazing - a good commentary on the game since all he had an issue with was the strategy guide. PlayOnline really was a joke, and I always looked through those guides at the store before buying one at that point, since so many of them had useless, surface-level info.

Glad you enjoyed it. PlayOnline made that the last Final Fantasy guide I ever bought.

I never got to fall in love with this game :/
It's one of my least favorite FF titles.

I think it was the character designs that bothered me - just kind of ugly. Great game otherwise though.

BatofWar2800d ago

Agreed. I liked the graphic direction they took with VIII and thought this looked too childish, but once I got past that it became one of my favorite FFs.

Ya it's the same with TLoZ- Wind Waker ... Thought it was too cartoony and a step back from previous zelda games but turned out to be my favorite zelda game .. FF 9 is in my top FF's .. just a fun wholesome game that doesn't take it self too seriously but still has serious context to enjoy . I liked the art direction it gave the characters unique personalities and world

One of the most memorable fights I ever played. I almost didn't want to pull the trigger at the end.

I liked it a lot, I will not compare it with other final fantasy, But I hadn't felt that emotion for a long time playing since the final fantasy vll remake, it lacks some things, it's not my goty, but it deserves a place in my heart, with that I say everything.
