Ubisoft reveals when the Assassin’s Creed game will be announced

It seems like Ubisoft has learnt from its past mistakes and isn't going to be rushing to announce the next Assassin's Creed game.

UltraNova2794d ago

1 years's break, thats it? This franchise should have been placed in a freezer for at least 5 years and then make a proper AC2 level come back on next gen.

Summons752794d ago

I mean it's more of a break than COD ever gets so we can at least be grateful Ubisoft actually cares about their franchises, kind of.

neutralgamer19922794d ago

summon

please get your facts right unlike ubi activision understood that games needed more development time so every cod this gen has been on a 3 years development cycle

http://www.polygon.com/2014...

all ubi does is put 5 different studios to make one ac and all 5 are doing a different side of development and that's why ac feels like there are 5 different chef's in one kitchen

i am neither cod/ac fan

DragonKnight2794d ago

@neutral: "every cod this gen has been on a 3 years development cycle"

And that's the same with Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft employs A LOT of devs and splits them into big teams. So when one game is finished, that team isn't working on the sequel, it's working on the game coming out AFTER the sequel. Just because the games release annually doesn't mean they are only developed annually.

_-EDMIX-_2793d ago

@neu- for someone telling someone else to get their um "facts right" you don't even know that AC series actually gets around 3 years development.

AC Unity was in development since 2010 sooooooo yea. Maybe you should look that up before throwing shade. I seriously would assume if you knew that about COD, you should have at least looked that up with AC. Ubisoft as had this sort of set up since the days of Prince Of Persia and Splinter Cell, in fact...I'd argue they are the MASTERS of that rotation.

Look up what they did during PS2 era, look up the teams that made those games and you'll realize Ubisoft did that BEFORE Acitivision bud.

neutralgamer19922794d ago

ultra

i was hoping for atleast 2 years break and in between put a proper structure in place so there are 2 or 3 different development studios on a 2-3 years cycle

and i really hope this time it's just a trilogy which has a more focused story because ac series over time became really confusing

UltraNova2794d ago (Edited 2794d ago )

Yeah but i really feel I have exhuasted all my appetide, so to speak, with this franchise. They should really focus on story maybe a tight, cohesive trilogy might be the remedy I m not sure...what I m sure is that a year's break will not be enough to win me back. Hell I doubt I will even watch the trailers.

Well thats just me maybe you'd like more AC games?

Edit @dragon

Fair enough. Btw i did not play Unity nor Syndicate.

For the record, do you like yearly AC games?

DragonKnight2794d ago (Edited 2794d ago )

The amount of time a game "takes a break" will not make it any better a game. Bad ideas have no time limit. New people need to be brought in. And if YOU'RE burned out, who's making you play every game?

**EDIT** @ Above: I don't mind them, but they have taken a huge quality hit.

Shubhendu_Singh2794d ago (Edited 2794d ago )

"Ubisoft seems to have taken on this feedback, as in a recent statement, they announced that they would not be sticking to the one game a year schedule that they had previously set,"

Awesome. Like how competent Ubi-studios has become in making AC games ever year...I think a break of an year is ample amount of time to get things just a bit right and have more variety and less copy-paste collectibles EVERYWHERE.

Haven't played Syndicate or Unity but really looking forward to AC:Empire.
E3-2017 it is.

Jon_Targaryen2794d ago

Unity might be meh.. But Syndicate is brilliant to be honest.

2793d ago
starchild2793d ago

Yeah, I thought Syndicate was really good.

CaptainFaisal2794d ago

it doesnt really need a huge break 1 year or 2 is enough. Ubisoft have some of the biggest devs in the market. Over 600 people work on a single game! If they had 200 or 100 people then it would make sense to take a huge break. But with the huge team , possibilities are endless! More ideas, more polish, more everything.

zodiac9092794d ago

They can't even leave the franchise alone for at least 2 years, before milking this cash cow?

Kalebninja2794d ago

You realize how stupid this sounds right?

Oh man oh boy they can't even wait an extra year before putting out a product they know will sell millions, what on earth is wrong with them? Why would they Want to make money?

sho0ok2793d ago

Lol that's funny... People just love to hate, and mostly imitate.

zodiac9092793d ago

Quantity > quality, is my point. Does everything have to be spelled out for you tools in an "ABC" fashion thesedays on this site?

eldingo2793d ago (Edited 2792d ago )

so your saying ubisofts quantity over quality approach is better as a whole for profits, consumers and the games they make if thats true then that's a stance i take umbridge with, quantity never equals quality yeah they can make money by churning out as many of them as possible but short term profit isnt always a good thing i mean ass creeds become its own version of cod with how many yearly releases its gotten over the years, hardly anything gets a noticable increase in quality gameplay wise.

when your motto for games is lets make as many as possible because they will buy it anyway thats an atrocius reasoning to have for countlessly continuing a game series along with having microtransactions in them via helix credits you might have alot of potential profit in such a thing because most people just don't care but it does make the lack of quality improvement in the gameplay department that much more apparent which as a whole is something im against.

zodiac put it best quantity does not equal quality.

@starchild I'm fully aware the quantity vs quality argument can go both ways.

assassins creed games have been of a very similar quality in the gameplay department for a very long time never of a bad quality or anything below a 5/10 (cept for unity before it got patches that brought it up to 5) however they have also never really improved upon the base formula too much or done anything really different and the more sequels they pump out with very little variation the more easily it becomes readily apparent to anyone paying attention hence how it becomes just another same ole assassin creed game which brings them down from good quality to medicore the more something is repeated the more it becomes a chore to play at least for me it does.

and before you say black flag was really different it is and i know it was however I honestly felt like the devs wanted to make a pirate game not an assassins creed game I enjoy assassins creed as well quite alot ive played most of the games aside from those 2.5 sidescrollers ones when i see it endlessly getting sequels and playing some of them i always get the feeling the game was made more to make money than actually build upon what came before they feel like different side stories instead of a main line entry like the 2,brotherhood,revelations and 3

my main gripe with the series so far has been why should i care as much as before when the gameplay barely changes and i have no real protag to root for people like to bash on desmond for being fucking boring (and he is)however he at least got an actual characer arc along with ezio that had a great feeling of finality something thats been lacking for me from all the protags from all the games after that i mean black flag felt awesome to play but it obviously wanted to be a pirate game and the protag for that was a silent mute asshole and never understood jack diddly about him so why care?

i havent played syndicate since im waiting for a decent price drop maybe that fixed some of my gripes i dunno for now though its a series that had real potential to grow into something great but ended up getting endless sequels in its own form of cod and like cod they are most 6/7 games but they are also blatantly made to make money with very little variation in the gameplay department which is something that severly dissapoints me IF you like this kind of thing more power to you man im not trying to bash the fans of the games just the people who keep deciding to endlessly pump out sequels for them.

starchild2793d ago

But quantity doesn't equal poor quality. Ubisoft have enough studios to produce quite a few high quality games each year.

You don't like Assassin's Creed? Fine. Don't buy it. But that doesn't mean it's not a good game series. Millions of people part with their hard earned cash because they like these games. I really enjoy the series personally.

Elda2794d ago

Old news,Ubisoft stated late last year that there next installment of AC wouldn't be till 2017.

rezzah2794d ago

The destroyed the series so I will no longer play it.

starchild2793d ago

I liked Unity and Syndicate better than the previous games. The stealth mechanics and customization were far superior and resulted in better games for my tastes.

eldingo2792d ago (Edited 2792d ago )

I am currently waiting for a significant price drop for syndicate did they improve the fighting camera and frame rate along with the speed of combat for syndicate because even after all those patches they were my main gripe with unity.

I also modified my comment above to better explain my stance on my feelings with assassins creed as a whole if you care to look.

AlphaCentyros2794d ago

Such a BS article, there is nothing in the article about Ubisoft revealing when the next AC will be announced.

Gecksta2794d ago

Just like when u google rdr2 news and get the same rubbish from the Christian times. Last I checked they were talking about it been a possible vr title.

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H96h ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX41m ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos1h ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

F*** AI

Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.

It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.

Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.

Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.

MrDead4h ago

Yes we can't wait for the work of others to be used without the need to pay them so that MS can profit even more from the people they fire.

I_am_Batman4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

There is no chance I'd ever use something like this, especially if it's not part of the core game design, but a layer on top of it. It's way too much handholding. Many games already feel like busy work, because they don't let the player figure things out on their own. Having a real-time interactive guide defeats the purpose of playing the game in the first place in my opinion.

If this were to become the standard like you predict, we'll see more and more video games get away with bad design, because people will just be used to ask for help from the AI companion anyway.

Number1TailzFan3h ago

Well Nintendo don't need this with some of their games these days, with invincible characters, items, easy bosses etc.. they do the hand holding built in

helicoptergirl4h ago

Takes "hand holding" in games to a whole new level.
