Resident Evil 7 Gets New Trailer, Extended Demo, Upgraded Deluxe Edition

At Tokyo Game Show earlier today, Capcom confirmed several new details about Resident Evil 7.

This is the part where everyone gets hype for Resident Evil to be ruined again only for them to release Resident Evil 8 with the same idea and for everyone to hate on that one.

It's just another terrible direction for the RE franchise all over again just like RE4 went downhill with action, RE7 will go downhill with this 1st-person Outlast clone.

If it wasn't for the RE2 remake then I would be pissed. Still kind of mad that the RE franchise in general is dead since they're just running it into the ground now (probably because the best team is working on the remake or because they've all left the company already). Since this game seems like it's just meant to cash-in on the VR fad, I'll wait for it to drop to like $10 on Steam & wait for a 3rd-person mod before buying it.

It looks pretty badass, it just doesn't look like Resident Evil anymore though. This looks more like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets the Hills have eyes or something.

Yeah it's cool that they're going back to horror because the last few installments have been more action, but I was hoping they would eventually return to zombies, which is what made Resident Evil in the first place and what I think Resident Evil really is. I was hoping Capcom would return the series to it's roots, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen anytime soon.

This also reminds me of another reinvention of the series sort of like Resident Evil 4. I bet those people are not totally human, they're mutated or possessed by something, kinda of like those Spanish villagers from Resident Evil 4, and that thing they wanted him to eat is probably what turns you into them. I don't know... it just came to mind.

Resident evil 4 is the best resident evil game because it is the best designed game in the series.

What happened is the mechanics that made the franchise what it was are extremely out dated and no longer fun in a new world. Resident Evil use to actually feel like a horror game, and turned into action. Now it's back to horror in a different way. Considering how the franchise has been since 4, anything else would be even worse. At this point, re-inventing the franchise is their best option. I'm not saying this is gonna be the most amazing Resident Evil ever. But I say wait until it comes out, play it and judge it for yourself.

Well Capcom is trying to bring every little detail to the game for us to experience. Looking at it this way, what do you think would happen in the real world if a big virus got out & infected 80% of the world? You know damn well the army will be killing them off by going in & bombing them & using all kinds of guns never before seen so that is action right there. Capcom is exploring all aspects to every out come to a virus outbreak to evolution of what a virus can do in order to progress the world of RE & there is nothing we can do because its their i.p. & they will envision a world of Zombies in their way instead of what series Walking Dead & so many in that field bring to us.

I don't agree with the reasoning though. RE: Remake did a great job of finding a middle ground between the oldschool tank controls, and a more modern feel. They had two separate control schemes. Classic Tank Controls, and a new hybrid control scheme that streamlined it.

So I don't think the controls were necessarily the problem. However, Switching to a new perspective shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. As far as I can tell, and from all the things confirmed so far, it seems to be the only major difference.

Well future Resident Evil games are no longer going back to what they were from the early years. Seeing how the T virus evolution has gone through so many private corporation take of changing human kind tells me Capcom is going to take the series in a direction where one day we fans will witness the virus give birth to a new kind of Zombies that will live with normal humans making them either good or bad that will make it harder to detect if they are dead or not. I believe that is what Capcom is trying to do because a lot of Japanese horror movies on virus tend to be like that in some way. Anyone here see the movie Parasite 1 & 2?

Now that movie is damn good & I never knew it was from the anime. If not go & watch the movie first & you will see how crazy it is & scary that will make you think twice about humans!

Where are you getting your information from?

1. Capcom confirmed there will be zombies.

2. No, there will not be Jill, Chris, Leon or those people, but this is still taking place in their world. Its a smaller, contained story.

3. Story takes place after RE6

4. No one said there wouldn't be a grenade launcher or magnum. In fact, they've actually said that there will be a variety of weapons, including flamethrowers. So that leaves the door open to pretty much anything, grenade launchers and magnums included.

5. Combat is an important part of the game. Capcom has said this multiple times.

6. Umbrella has a presence in the game.

7. Herbs are used for health.

8. Mansion setting, meaning closed, claustrophobic, creepy settings.

9. Even the name, Resident Evil 7: BIOHAZARD, leads one to believe there will some type of, I don't know, BIOHAZARD, that is leading to mutations or something just as bad.

I fail to see how all those things DON'T sound like RE. I've been playing since the original and I can tell you that those are ALL staples of the series.

Its like they changed to 1st person perspective and everyone lost their minds and ability to think rationally.

Do yourself a favor, Google search anything you want to know about this game, this way you don't sound quite so misinformed next time you make a comment.

I know it's a big departure from the core RE games, but seeing the twisted family reminds me of the Ganados--people who are zombified in a way that they are not in total control of their actions anymore, but they're not necessarily dead--which really intrigues me! Played all the classic RE games from RE1 on PC in 1997. Definitely not RE vibe. They could've created a new IP instead of using the Resident Evil Title on this one! But I'd still play.

I like how people are judging this game when they haven't even fully shown it off. We have no idea yet how Umbrella will be involved and yet we are assuming that this game is a complete departure. Aren't you guys tired of the zombie trend?

Resident evIL was originally about horror, atmosphere, discovery, combat, puzzle solving, item managing, an overbearing evil corporation and zombies (creatures).

From everything I've seen, it has all that minus zombies (more like the gonados).

The main thing I take away is that I see people complaining about the first person camera. How quickly do we forget that people b**ched and moaned about re4 over the shoulder camera when it was first shown.

I'm just saying, don't jump to such grand conclusions before we have more details.
