Capcom Removes Dead Rising Boob Physics from Jessie? (Video)

It looks like Capcom are playing it safe (or it’s a bug) once more with the just released version of their zombie classic on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 by removing some rather tame Dead Rising boob physics at the start of the game for no apparent reason.

Yet another completely senseless and downright offensive chapter of unnecessary self-censorship by Capcom...

Was considering getting this as I missed it last gen. I won't, because of this crap.

The vast majority of the time, unless the girl in the scene is jogging or something, any "boob physics" in games is extremely unrealistically exaggerated (tits jiggling with every step, sometimes multiple times per step, for instance). How would you feel if all the male characters had unrealistically large boners the entire time? I'd probably get a laugh out of it for a short while, but before long it would get old and seem cheap.

Maybe Capcom realizes that not all gamers are horny 14 year old virgins, and so they're starting to make their games to where they can appeal to a broader audience. It isn't censorship if you choose to do it to your own creation. Only when others choose it for you.

I don't think boobs jiggling is the same as having a boner tbh(I think we know what the equivalent would be), also I don't think the broader audience cares either way.
I think people just get annoyed that companies give into pressure groups who are a very small % of people, which makes it a dictatorship of ideology.
Perhaps a realistic boob jiggle is the middle ground ;) Perhaps she has augmented boobs?

Yet if they decided to add boob physics instead of removing them you'd probably be up in arms even if it was something they chose to do to their own creation..

It just seems like a waste of time, it doesn't actually affect the game at all. I could care less either way, all of this is just silly. Their original artistic expression chose to include it, but now everybody's so sensitive about this kind of stuff that it just seems they're doing it for people who feign offense at the human body. It's like putting a loincloth on the Statue of David.

It's not about the terrible looking jiggly boobs: it's about the fact that Capcom goes out of their way to self-censor their creative visions to please a small minority of complainers who don't even play games.

It's something I very much object to. Not just boobs and such btw, but also self-censorship when it comes to violence or religion or whatever.

It only starts with boobs. We should make a big deal. Next thing we know, all of our heroes are effeminate males of an indiscriminate race.

I think that it is important not to be ashamed of our human nature and embrace reality. Painting the world with a SJW's brush just ends up with a lot of characters people either can't relate to or don't like, and although a lot of characters are larger than life, they fit into what most people admire which is what makes good games.

Yeah, my first thought wasn't censorship. My first thought was that someone over at Capcom realized how dumb the jello-like physics look and removed it for that reason.

Granted, boobs generally don't sit completely still in a bra. But they don't roll around like a buoy in water either.

Sometimes boob physics can be odd and distracting. I sometimes turn them off for DAO5LR.

This at Yi-Long and fr0sty. Two extremist views when this whole thing doesn't deserve either.

The breast physics are minor and pointless, making a big deal out of them the way some are is just... sad. I get the whole principal behind it, though. But to call this 'crap' compared to other major problems? Exaggeration.

In saying that, complaining about them is completely valid and having principals is also a good thing. Deriding people for not liking this in almost any way because you don't care seems pointless. If you don't care, then why even comment? But, at least recognize some principals for what they are, just as you realize your own principals of what you think should or shouldn't be in a game. People are different, opinions vary, most are not more valuable than others.

Let's put down the pitchforks while at the same time putting away the derision towards those with don't like the change.

Why do companies keep doing this? Isn't pretty much proven that these keyboard social warriors never buy the stuff they complain about anyway?
Marvel went all in for the tumblr/SJW crowd and guess what? Comic sales keep on dropping, in fact DC is kicking their ass now.
Companies need to ignore these vocal no buyers, in hopes that they're get a magical increase in sales for it.

Sure, it's possible, but it's a weird decision no matter which way you look at it. It took effort that wasn't even slightly necessary. Why not take the time to make the survivor NPCs less blisteringly stupid?

They have time to remove boob physics but no time to improve the survivor AI. Today while trying to rescue 2 survivors at once. One of them just stood there anytime a zombie came in touching distance and kept shouting frank and dropping his weapon. I just gave up on him and left him to die.

Well, technically, removing those physics is really really easy. You already have the base model, you just don't animate the shirt/breast area at all, which means you just remove some code calls to whatever physics engine they're using.

Survivor AI means actually going into the AI code and fixing it there, much more work in that and much harder.

Dead rising 1 was one of my favorite games back in the day. I never got into the others like I did DR1. DR2 was ok but 3 and 4 were kinda lame.

Absolutely agree with you 100%. 1 was A MASTERPIECE even though it had several things that were not that good. But still a very solid title. And the ending was EPIC.

I agree. I’ll never forget grinding the zombies in the parking tunnels to get the mega buster weapon. Its uniqueness will always stand out to me and is high up on my all-times.

When I got over the rather bland art direction of Dead Rising 3, I actually fell in love with that one. Dead Rising 4 on the other hand.... :(

It's a real shame the Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + Alpha DLC isn't available on PC. It was one of the best DLCs I've ever played, it was so fun! But alas... I no longer have my Xbox One :(

I should give it another try on the newer Xbox controllers. I remember jumping over to the Xbox controller was a big peeve for me. I loved the 360 controller and dead rising was one of my very first games on it. The Xbox one controller felt cheaply and loose and it bugged me. I don’t feel that way with the series x one.

Never played 3 or 4 but I read they weren't the same. As for 1 I guess the character played the "path of the hero" so well, no other title could keep it up with. 2 had to have another instance with Frank. And that's what I loved about the first: Frank was a good for nothing and still was the hero. He was not funny, he was not the hero everybody wanted. He was just there "for a good story". And the psychos..... my goodness!! Adam, the snipers, the three prisoners on the garden, the cult! MY GOODNESS!

Good Riddance. Capcom Vancouver's entries are a big stain on what was a great, charming game series.

The ideas shown here are the pinnacle of their ineptness. Yeah, let's remove items on the ground, a core mechanic to the franchise, and one that people would show they still love in BOTW 2 years later.

I definitely agree.

What I always found amazing in DR1 was how it was a survival game first and a sandbox game second, and not the other way around...

Your weapons were resources for specific situations, and you always had to juggle your resources and plan your runs... "I'm gonna get two X weapons on this store for hordes and then I'll get to that other store and get Y weapon for Z boss".

Although the trend of combining weapons that started in DR2 and so on was fun, it removed that layer of strategy and streamlined the series too much by catering to the "it's too hardddd :((" crowd, since you only had to focus on crafting the same 2-3 kinds of strong weapons and you're good for the rest of the game...

This was one of the games I got an Xbox 360 for back when. Dead rising. Lost odyssey. Blue dragon. Alan wake. Anyway the last 3 didn't disappoint. I thought dead rising was kinda eh. I didn't like the setup or how it played out. It's been years but if I remember right it was some kind of timer during the missions or whatever you wanna call them. Straight turned me off. I never even tried the sequels.
