Hyper Light Drifter Wii U/Vita Versions Canceled, Despite Reaching Stretch Goal

Even though fans of Hyper Light Drifter were able to fund the game enough via Kickstarter to reach a stretch goal that would allow the game to come to Wii U, the version, along with the Vita port, have both been canceled by the developer.

This upsets me. I was waiting to get this on Vita.

sucks for those who were opting for those versions. Devs really played with Wii U gamers wallets on kickstarter. I have seen numerous ones promise Wii U only to take it away afterwards regardless if they met their funding or not.

Thankfully I chose PC and PS4 for this title and not the Wii U.

It's disappointing, and it really affected whether or not I'll be able to trust their word on future projects.

you should not trust them at all- If they did not already know what it would take to deliver the Wii u and Vita version they should have - as it is they asked for the extra money, got it, did not follw thru but are keeping the money

Learning that the developer's health was worsening was pretty heartbreaking. Hopefully he can recover.

The developer of the game is ill my friend. It's the only reason why the game isn't being made for the Wii U and Vita.

what does his illness have to do with fulfilling contractual obligations? these are business matters...it should remain professional for both sides.

You really are heartless aren't you? Why don't you go open up a games studio and become a lead developer for a game. Then get a serious disease that you can die from and go through some pain and suffering. Once you do that come back here and tell me that you would fulfill your "contractual obligations" rather than focus on your own health you POS.

Funny that every time this happens it's always wii u (and vita this time) that get's shafted.
Defend the developer all you want but fact is that wii u owners payed for the kickstarter and again end up with nothing

that is not what the article said- it said it would be too much work to develop the Wii u and Vita version- If illness is the reason then why don t they refubd the money they raised on the premise of delivering wii u and vita versions?

He is offering refunds if you supported for these particular platforms and do not want it on another platform. This is OK. People stop hating so much. Reason seems legit and Ok by me. I don't believe we had any option for a refund for Project Cars or any other similar situations. Give this guy a break.

But if you back the project to help get it to a particular stretch goal, to find the stretch goal is then cancelled, surely you can demand your money back?

I'm sick of seeing these kind of articles popping up telling the various horrors of kickstarter. They should be contractually obligated to follow through on their promises.

If i'd backed the project to pick it up on WiiU/Vita and then had the option taken away from me, i'd be infuriated.
