It does run games better actually. And it has true 4k upscaling which makes a huge difference in picture quality.

Just relying on the tv to upscale takes the same image and is limited.

Proper 4k upscale from the console itself is a new image output with a bigger aspect ratio and higher quality. So yeah it does outperform ps4 og on a 4k tv.

And xb1 upscales all games to 4k so yeah it does support 4k gaming.

I see a few similarities here. PS4Pro supports 4K and HDR and has improved cpu / gpu and 1tb hdd for $399.

Then you have the XB1S that supports 4K and HDR as well as has an improved cpu / gpu and 1tb hdd for $349.

Gaming on both is more than likely upscaled considering that both are touting 4K and HDR and probably wont have native 4K games (XB1S wont obviously) unless they are really low in fidelity and just wanting to have really high resolution (think 8bit / 16bit type indie games).

Now I am hearing that the PS4Pro doesn't support 4K bluray... is that even possible? the XB1S does so I would think the Pro should as well.

That 720p game looks amazing. Better than a lot of 900p and 1080p games and is very clear to look at with really high res textures and amazing lighting and particle effects.

It gets upscaled to 1080p or 4k but either way if all games could look as good as battlefront and bf1 but had to be native 720p upscaled im fine with that because it looks amazing and runs a very smooth 60fps.

XBO S supports HDR, they supported by putting a stronger GPU that's only 7% stronger than the XBO... to have HDR support you need a GPU that can support it, the original XBO doesn't have the capability and would require more performance power from the gpu, that's why the One S was created and outfitted with a slightly more powerful GPU that can handle it... since the PS4 standard is already more powerful than both XBO and One S, it had the flu overhead to support HDR. So it was simply just a matter of coding and allocating some guy resources to allow for it. Now we get a firmware update next week and once again Sony has this industry on lock

TBH, I don't think a 4K BluRay player is that big of a deal. There are definitely diminishing returns on playable media, and also on distance viewing. Most 4K media will look exactly the same as 1080p. Now, 4K gaming, because it's the equivalent to AA, and can get more detail, will be great. But Xbox Scorpio's 4K games won't have enough power to make a good difference. At this time 1080p60 is miles better. Perhaps with the next-gen. Just my take.

MS should focus on making 1080p60 games that show Scorpio has more power than PS4Pro. And they also need to focus on simple things like better VA. Scalebound and Gears 4 could put MS on the map again if they didn't skip something so simple as a good VA. Just my take. As someone that played 360 exclusively last-gen the only AAA/S game I have any hope for with Xbox is Halo 6, which just isn't going to be worth $499 for me to play.

I've followed Sony since the PS1 because of games.. that's why I'm here, I like playing videogames, have ever since I was young. Never once regretted any one of my purchases all through their run, the PS3 had a rocky start and it was expensive when it first came out, but dude, the games. Considering anyone w/ a decent internet connection can stream or d/l the same 4k content from Sony or third parties, what difference does a 4k bd player truly make? We aren't ready to go fully digital w/ games yet but in terms of film & tv content, who really buys physical movies aside from the most ardent film buffs? PS4 Pro is pushing hard for 4K, and I'm not a massive fan of the priority over frame rate, there are so many choices available for developers to choose what they want to do, so I'm confident there will be a fine balance. HDR has me excited based on what I understand about it. And PSVR improvements are also key in making me want this.

Horizon: Zero Dawn looks amazing and beyond any open-world game I've ever seen.

Final Fantasy XV patch when it comes out in late November....? HELL YES!

And Sony also has their Asia event tomorrow where games should be announced/shown. What does Xbox have to show other than games they're delaying into 2017 for the Scorpio's launch 12-15 months away? All they can do is lie and mislead consumers and gamers on social media (to further support the disgusting liars of their community), in the meantime whilst they have their ass handed to them furthermore by a $249 slim that significantly undercuts their XB1S and a $399 Pro that is an amazing price for much improved hardware.

They can throw around the rest, but this entire idea of MS straight up tooting their own horn in the face of a fair amount of critically underwhelming titles vs the much higher rated (and more frequent) Sony exclusives is just off base & petty. We shall see how much people care for a $299 4K Blu-ray player this holiday over a $299 console that plays games better and has more games to offer to a wider range of gamers. No 4K Blu-Ray player? Big mistake. Not a good way for movie fans to take advantage of their new $1500-$2000 UHD TV.

Also, the 4K gaming ain't happening either. Not natively, anyway. Upscaled, sure. But, the standard PS4 will have upscaling on a 4K TV as well. The only real gaming advantage is FPS increase and textures. I'm thinking the Blu-Ray decision may cost them.

The Scorpio has negative implications for Sony. Where does the ps4 go after pro ? It will have to be 8-10 tf, and this pisses Sony off. They wanted to take smaller steps, to profit more, but MS went in with big chips. I think in the long term the xbox will be the more future proof brand. Windows 10 and powerful consoles are the future. Sony can't do anything about it for another 3-4 years.

It would be foolish for Microsoft NOT to point out how great their product is right now. Sony just underwhelmed big time, and now the gaming media is in panic mode trying to figure out how they are going to put lipstick on this Sony pig. The phony HDR is the best thing out of this entire story, but its not even as good as what XBOS will be offering with games like Gears 4 and future titles with HDR baked in. By all rational thinking it should, you can get a XBOS for 299, with native HDR baked into the console AND games, a 4k bluray player, optical audio out, and HDMI in. PS Pro has phony HDR, no native 4k, and no 4kBluray, is ugly AF, and cost 100 more dollars. There is literally no reason to drop ANOTHER $400 in the same gen for this thing.

BUT Playstaion has the media, and they will STILL claim playstaion is somehow on par or a better buy. Just watch and see.

The mood during the whole presentation seemed wholeheartedly indifferent, were the journalists there mostly asleep or was there only room for 20 people max. As presentations go based on audience reaction then and there it was not good, a smattering of sporadic applause, isn't very encouraging. I'm not expecting them to howl and whoop with delight, but it seemed as if most of the people there just didn't really give a shit. I'm pretty sure this is also the first time I've heard Mark Cerny speak and whilst I don't fault his technical abilities in hardware design, his delivery of his segment was horribly dry and unenthusiastic, maybe that is just the way he is, but shouldn't you try to inject some excitement into proceedings ? Even the grand unveiling of the Slim and Pro was met with horribly stony silence. Maybe I was mistaken but I was expecting a show with fireworks instead we got a sparkler.
