Video Game Analyst Confidently Predicts Neo Releasing This Year, Possible November Release

We are so close to the PlayStation meeting now that it's not long now until Sony take the stage and put all the rumours to rest and give us some official details on the PS4 Neo. In the meantime, here's the latest round of news on the Neo.

Noone has confirmed 2016. It's more likely to launch around Scorpio. PS slim and psvr have holiday season covered. You shouldn't do too much or your Canablizing your own potential sales.

More info about PSVR? They could've done that in Tokyo or Paris since they've already announced that one.

The Slim? Would be the first time they find a Slim so darn important to have a special event for it.

Thus it's about the Neo? Indeed, I think so too, but you believe they will announce the Neo before the holiday season starts, show how much better it is than a regular PS4 and then release it after the holidays? Doesn't make sense to me.

They have E3 every year. Launch new consoles typically a year after they have them announced around the next holiday season.

True. No denying that. Thats why I am holding off on the Neo. I mean, I'm really satisfied with the performance so far and my PS4 already does VR. So PSVR is the focus for me. Neo has to be priced very well and give enough of a boost for me to care. And right now I don't... so I can wait to be honest.

yep, that's a fair assessment. I will wait to see the price and release date. If they keep touting that the standard PS4 will run VR fine then maybe I can hold off until next year. Not only all of that, but this dude Charlie Oakley is a blatant MS shill. Why they made him the head writer is beyond me, but it guarantees one thing...splashy fanboy head lines that would make Gaming Bolt blush.

For instance, this 'analyst' that TGG is giving so much credit too also just said this on Twitter:

...yeah, obviously a trustworthy 'analyst' to spin an article around. This Charlie kid should be ashamed of himself for being so blatant w/ this click baiting. I'm all for fair & biased commentary wherever it may fall, but why is it that this is worthy of an article is so many other positive things weren't?

Sites like these are the literal bane of gaming "journalism"....I use that term loosely because this site ain't that.

Maybe Neo releases this year, maybe it doesn't, but bottom line is 'insiders' & 'analysts' reported through 'gaming sites' like these aren't the place to find them.

November makes total sense. We all know the slim is coming probably this month so they will give it a buffer and they have to launch PSVR too. Thats alot. It also gives the Slim and OG to silence the VR skeptics. When PSVR launches on PS4 in October it will be the best VR experience anywhere. And then, it will get even better with the Neo.

Higher price doesn't mean better quality. Yes, Rift and Vive have a higher resolution, but they also use displays with 2 sub-pixels and PSVR uses 3 sub-pixels making the pixels less noticeable. PSVR also does 120hz instead of just 90 like the Rift and Vive. All the other things you could say about Rift/Vive are more because of the PC driving it. And then PSVR is more comfortable, cheaper, easier to use, more exclusives, etc., etc.

So it's a tough call to say which one is better, either have their positives and negatives

The faster it releases the more the PSVR will sell most likely. People want good VR for less than building a capable PC and VR. So if they announce it and release it soon after VR it will surely turn a lot more people onto the VR.

Why would they release both the Slim and NEO this year?

They should of done what MS is doing. Because you know people who bought the Xone S, alot of them will buy the Scorpio too.

Because the Slim is just a cheaper PS4. It is easier to produce. They plan to run the PS4 and the Neo in parallel. As a consumer I appreciate have two choices and not spending money now just to upgrade in just one year. Plus the Neo will probably be at the higher end of the price spectrum. I hope that people make a responsible decision with their money.

It's pretty obvious it's coming this year, well to me at least.

1) The Slim doesn't need a special press conference, they never treated Slim versions of their console like that
2) PSVR didn't need an extra special event either, plenty of time at TGS or PGW to show anything else they want to show us before release
3) So it has to be about the Neo, and why would they have this special event before the holidays and not have it in shops? Wouldn't make sense

So yeah, conclusion: it releases this year, end of October or in November.
