One of the great reasons why I'm getting PSVR. Having a large virtual screen without the need to buy a large television. Which also allows you to play when someone is using the main television.

Only negative is the lower resolution. But I have no problems with that as I still watch and play things all the way back to 480p. even 360p on a phone. But 1080p split suited me fine.

Neonridr2807d ago

I have a Rift and Virtual Desktop is a hoot to use. Playing PC games projected on a 100' screen inside the headset is something to see.

Some people will get a real kick out of this app with the PSVR.

freshslicepizza2807d ago

the larger the screen the more noticeable those lower resolutions are.

IRetrouk2807d ago

The resolutions fine though, looking to hate as always.. all u do is spread false info and negativity, must be a real fun fella.

uptownsoul2807d ago

Well then thank goodness Sony will still provide the option to play regular PS4 games on a regular screen. And for those who want to get a PSVR, they can play the regular games on the new device.

Thatguy-3102807d ago

yup on a phone you don't notice it as much since screen is smaller. Anyone remember how forza looked when MS showed it on the theater mode for rift??? I will mainly be using the theater mode for movies. Would rather enjoy the best resolution on my regular tv.

GameNameFame2806d ago (Edited 2806d ago )

@moldybread.

Except PSVR resolution stays same. Whetever is basically visualized in VR, resolution displayed on PSVR is same.

MS fanboys motto this gen is misformation it seems. Believe in false secret sauce for Xbox. Believe in false info on PS with double standard.

@Thatguy-310

Except it is much closer which makes up for it.

Angeljuice2806d ago

What is Microsofts VR resolution? Oh yeah, 0x0 pixels. Enjoy!

spicelicka2806d ago

How is it on the eyes though? Can you play for over an hour without feeling strain on your eyes?

boing12806d ago (Edited 2806d ago )

It's way easier on the eyes than other headsets. Screen matrix is almost invisible so it doesn't strain the eyes as much. On pentile screens you cannot unsee it. And screen has higher density even though it's 'just' full hd. Difference between PSVR and other headsets is negligible.

maybelovehate2806d ago

Yeah, it might be cool to try it out but the resolution is a deal breaker. No one will wan to be looking at pixels when they don't have to.

King_Lothric2808d ago

This is going to be awesome. I hope I can watch Netflix on PSVR

KiwiViper852807d ago (Edited 2807d ago )

Netflix and chill... alone?

UltraNova2807d ago

Alone time is precious...trust me. (Fortunatly my girlfriend wont read this comment...:-p)

hells_supernova2807d ago

@ultranova it is hard for make believe characters to read in real life ;)

ibrake4naps2801d ago

for sure! Pornhub has said it will support it for VR porn!

kraenk122807d ago

Sadly there is no information on how the comparably low resolution affects the impression of the games/movies.

The fact the absolute resolution per eye is just 960 by 1080 obviously results in a less defined picture compared to a normal 1080p picture.

Neonridr2807d ago

yep. Even with the Rift you can see individual pixels and that has a better overall pixel resolution. Sony has tried to combat that by utilizing a 3-subpixel setup to the Rift and Vive's 2 which will help smooth the edges out a little more, but we are still talking about a screen inches from your face. Only a 4K screen is going to really help eliminate the screen door effect. PS4 users will find out soon enough when what they see in the headset isn't exactly what they saw on their PC via trailers and screenshots. Nature of the beast when it comes to VR. That being said, it still doesn't mean it won't be fun and believe me when I say that you start to not notice about the lower resolution after a while because you get so engrossed in the game.

2806d ago
Neonridr2806d ago

@bruce755 - glad to hear. I notice it on the Rift if I am looking for it, but it quickly goes away when you are immersed in the content.

Just something for people to be aware of, that it doesn't look as good as what you see in the trailers. And that's not a knock on it, it goes the same with the Rift and Vive.

Screen Door Effect may not be pronouced, but pixels will still be noticeable.

DigitalRaptor2807d ago (Edited 2807d ago )

@ kraenk12

Even on my Samsung Gear VR, a 1080p video file looks convincing enough in theater mode. You can see the pixels on the phone's screen, but for what is pretty much entry level VR, that is impressive in itself. PSVR is already a step up from that. As much as Neonridr wants to pretend otherwise, PSVR has a lesser screen-door effect than Oculus/Vive's screen.

kraenk122806d ago

That I know, I'm just wondering about how much the lowered resolution will affect me when playing or watching.

Neonridr2806d ago

believe what you want. Still has less overall pixels which means the image will look more pixelated. Regardless if it has 3 sub-pixels. Yes the "edges" of each pixel might look smoother but you're still sticking a 1080p screen inches from your face.

You guys are in for a rude awakening.

attilayavuzer2806d ago

I remember being really apprehensive about theater mode when I got my Gear because of all the resolution hate I was reading, but once I was in it the wow factor lasted long enough for me to readjust.

akurtz2807d ago

who goes to a movie theatre asking for the resolution?

MatrixxGT2806d ago

If I can't tell the resolution between X1 and ps4 I don't think playing in cinematic mode would bother me lol.

I still will wait and see more hands on of the PSVR when it launches before I buy one. Having a headset on playing isolated from my surroundings is just something I won't have much luxury even though I wish I did.

Sony Has Added More Titles To The List of Games Leaving PS Plus In May 2024

Sony Interactive Entertainment has added a few more titles to the list of games that will be leaving PS Plus in May, 2024.

curious... if a game leaves PS+, does it make it unplayable if you have already claimed it before it leaves? I know on the XB side, games leaving Gamepass are no longer playable. You need to pay for them to be able to continue playing after you installed them from GP.

CrimsonWing698d ago

The 3 monthly “free” games you keep as long as you have PS+ subscription. The PS+ library is like Netflix. They rotate stuff out and replace them with other titles.

MrNinosan8d ago

Yes, PS+ Extra/Premium games are unplayable after the leave the service, just like GamePass and Netflix.
PS+ Essentials games are available as long as you have an active PS+ account.

Profchaos7d ago

Monthly games, special promos like the free games during COVID or PS plus bundle on ps5 are forever yours. Premium and above are time limited

If you claim a game on the premium tier (not yours to keep) and it comes out as a monthly games later e.g. fallout 76 it appears you do not retain ownership on that one.

Notsofast7d ago

The 3-4 monthly games that are free that are part of every service are yours forever I canceled my service over a year and you never lose access. I dont know what these other comments are talking about maybe they are in a different country but in the USA I could play any game I claimed of the free monthly games

MrNinosan7d ago

Then one of the accounts on your PS5 probably has a PS+ Essential subscription.
Because the 3-4 PS+ games you get every month, is not available to be played if you don't have an active sunscription.
It's the same in US, Europe, Japan and everywhere else.

Petebloodyonion7d ago

Essential stays in your library
Extra and premium become locked when titles leave the service.

It's actually one of my gripes with Extra, you can't remove the title from your own library, so basically it countss as one your title but it's locked so you own library become a cluster F... unless you filter your titles.

MrNinosan7d ago

Well you can just chose to hide them.

Wonder if Horizon ZD leaving gives credit to those remake rumours

Sigh. If true…another remake that’s not Bloodborne.

SimpleDad8d ago

Probably yes cause of a remake.

Skuletor8d ago

I still remember them giving that one away for free, regardless of if you were subscribed to Plus or not

ApocalypseShadow8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

They did. It was during the pandemic and the "play at home" initiative.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. Sony gave away a lot of games just to push gamers to stay home and not get infected by COVID.

Eonjay8d ago

I think you're right.
There is a separate Bloodborne rumor by the remake is allegedly scheduled for next gen.

Kingrizzy907d ago

Yes cause of the remake good thing I got the plat
And is bloodborn really that good? I never played it due to being Incarcerated 8½ years but I read the comics. It's pretty dark

Profchaos7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Highly likely I also bet the remaster will be over priced and under whelming.

I'd also bet most people will simply stick with the PS4 pro and ps5 60fps patch over paying to upgrade when it offers the bare minimum.

I hope Sony has learnt from the last of us 2 and stop remastering games that just came out they have nearly 30 years of content to work with but always remaster games that are like 5 years old and don't need it. I assume this was In development alongside tlou2 so fingers crossed this is the last time we get this because what's next god of war on PS4 to ps5 for 70 dollars probably anything outside of bloodborne

Glad I played sundered and the messenger, both great 2d games

gold_drake7d ago

ahh the messenger is such a good game.

u should play sea of starts. same people, its a sort of prequel to the messenger tok

Friendlygamer7d ago

Oh I will definitely play it eventually, chained echoes too

Jingsing7d ago

Can N4G adopt a policy of games leaving subscription services as not being a new story, it is just spam at this point.

Petebloodyonion7d ago

Is it me or have there been a lot of great games leaving the extra tier but barely anything in terms of wow factor joining the service in return?
When was the last time that Sony added a PlayStation studio game?
Now I don't expect Sony to have day 1 like Gamepass but I would expect to at least care to make the offering interesting especially when they raised the price by 30% last year.

MrNinosan7d ago

PS Studio Games:
May - Destiny 2: Lightfall
April - MediEvil, Jak&Daxter: The Lost Frontier,
March - CoolBoarders

What Playstation Studio games is it you're missing?

Petebloodyonion7d ago

Sight...
let me check my comment again
" Is it me or have there been a lot of great games leaving the extra tier but barely anything in terms of wow factor joining the service in return? "
Yeah pretty sure I mentioned the EXTRA tier and not the PREMIUM tier
but glad that you consider a DLC to a free-to-play game a great offering

MrNinosan7d ago

I repeat my question, what PS Studio games is it you're missing?

And regarding the first part of your comment, lots of great games leaving and nothing added?

What great games iyo has left the service?
For me, "wow-factor games added would be".
Dave the Diver, Tales of Kenzera, Raji, Miasma, The Outer Worlds, Resident Evil 3, Ace Attorney, Rainbow Six Siege, AC: Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs Legion, Both Southpark jrpgs, Fenyx Rising, Tales of Arise, Session, Lego Worlds, Vampire the Masquerade Swansong, Legends of Mana....

And many more.

Compared to what has been removed, the adds are better than the 'offs'.

Garethvk53d ago

I can finally play Half Life Alyx.

mariopasta53d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts53d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos53d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts53d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa53d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
