Is Perverted VR Worse Than Digital Violence?

The virtual boob squeezing was creepy, but is it as outrageous as shooting someone in the head in Hitman?

No. Its simply the safest sex there is. And we already know that digital violence doesn't manifest itself into real violence so this is utterly lame. If your premise about violence is unproven, you can't use it as an argument supporting contradictions to 'perverted' VR

Right. The sad thing is you have these people behaving like this stuff is worse than the real violence. All it does is devalue real world events. Then you have this ridiculous notion that people are encouraged to commit real violence, sexual, physical, or both from digital content is nothing short of heinous. This is just the outdated argument that music, comics, and movies as well as other forms media lead to actual violence in the real world. It's sad to see that no matter how much things change these ignorant attitudes remain the same.

It sad to say there are people who get off on beating people up and rapeing them or looking at child porn. Whats good about vr porn, cgi porn is that these same weirdos can get there rocks off on the fake stuff rather than go out into the real world and try it. The emmergence of this tech is good over all. The biggest sex organ is the brain so more to this wave of tech. Remember the Japanese kid and the vr doll? If that type of thing keeps the urges in check the more the better. To many weak minded people fear this for no other reason than to make themselves feel good.

"If your premise about violence is unproven, you can't use it as an argument supporting contradictions to 'perverted'

Well, it depends. IF 'perverted' is talking about anything related or leaning toward sexual harassment or violence, then they have a point. Rape in general is more distasteful and creepy than just violence - especially the idea of it. This is 100% true when talking about depictions of the same. Violence ,in most cases, means quick inconsequential deaths, unlike rape, which shows suffering and sadism. Shooting someone in the head in Hitman is hardly ever disturbing. The game doesn't focus on that aspect. Whereas a game like Manhunt is the opposite - it's very disturbing, and that of-course serves a purpose. The vast majority of games are more like Hitman than they are like Manhunt.

If a game comes out with a sexual harassment aspect, especially in VR, that immediately becomes disturbing. Take it up to sexual violence and even rape - then it's magnitudes more disturbing than the vast majority of 'violent' games out there.

Basically what I'm saying is they don't need to prove that violence in video-games causes real life violence to say that 'perverted VR' is creepy or disturbing in itself. The depiction might just be disturbing. Groping a girl character in VR, while the character constantly tells you to stop... I find that distasteful, and even a little disturbing perhaps.

I don't find killing people in Hitman disturbing (but that's not because of some double standard. It's simply because Hitman, like most games is not designed that way)

The torture scene in GTA V is one instance of sadistic violence. Other offensive examples of violence exist, like the murder of innocent people in the airport in COD, which are more extreme as well. Like anything else though, these things have a right to exist and for people to choose whether or not to support said game with a purchase.

About the sexual assault, there were people in another thread who clarified a lot about things. Most notably, I was informed that the inflection of the statements made by the girls changes the plain context of the words and their meanings. As it was explained to me the girls are being coy, which represents a flirtatious attitude towards the gamer and not a "no, don't touch me" sort of thing. It's entirely posssible that it's just a cultural misperception that simply gets lost in translation.

Honestly, I don't know much about Japanese language or culture but the theory presented to me, which I shared with you today, is certainly a plausable explanation of the game's odd behavior.

No distinction was made on the part of violence so in this case I use perverted to mean any type of adult sexual material. Just to clarify.

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
