The MMORPG genre is dead, and we killed it

A new "World of Warcraft" expansion won't save it. We now expect multimillion-dollar projects for free, and that formula just doesn’t add up for publishers.

MOBAs and team-based shooters are all the craze now. They're pickup-and-play, and doesn't require much commitment that is needed in MMOs. Seems that's all MMOs have been. Rushing through PvE just to play PvP pretty much forever or earlier. Not to mention having a monthly subscription to pay, at least, typically.

They're doing pretty much what they did with the Vita. It didn't sell right out of the gate so they pulled almost all support.

I feel like the astrobot decision was made before psvr2 even went on sale. Apparently psvr2 was outselling psvr1 by a decent amount too.
