We definitely need to wait until the reveal on September because from the looks of it there is no reason for me to run out and get the Slim over my current PS4. The author even said that it won't have 4k support (playback not gaming) and or HDR.

From the article: "We can confirm though, that the PS4 Slim will not have 4K or HDR support (something the competing console does have)."

PS. Please do not reply to me with stupid comments on justifying the lack of these features with "It doesn't need them, look at the sales" when the Xbox One S has them. I am a consumer / gamer I own multiple systems (Xbox One S, PS4, PS3) so I want the most bang for my dollar. Bring out the Neo please I'm more interested in what that will offer.

You are 100% correct sir. But it would've been nice. With how insanely cheap 4K T.Vs are right now this would have made a good set up. For most people having a PS4 / Xbox One S in their living room with the capability to play 4K video would've been really nice considering how expensive some of these dedicated 4K players are today. I'm still hoping that this is not true. I have a living room and a "man cave" (both have 4K T.Vs) in my house and a PS4 with 4K / HDR would complete the setup on the living room. The man cave gets the Xbox One S with the PC.

Sorry 4k Tv's are a waste if you own one basically. There is not even remotely enough material for 4k in any format to justify a TV purchase even if it is cheap.

Funny all I see is people enjoying their 4K panels. 1080p TVs rolled out without much content as well.

I guess if your buying a PS4 slim, yeah a 4k panel would be a waste.

Im disappointed that it seems the slim wont have hdr or 4k playback.

It's not meant to make current PS4 owners want to go out and buy one, it's meant to replace the current ps4 as the baseline option. The Neo will be the upgrade option.

Well Im not sure why anyone with a working PS4 would 'run out and buy a slim' knowing a Neo is out soon, unless they need to replace theirs or dont have a ps4 yet.

its not meant for existing user base. Its for people on the fence about buying one (look up quantity demanded (in relation to price) in economics). I think the Neo will target existing user base with emphasis on upgraded hardware 4K blu-ray etc. Its good to have a lower end option at reduced price and a more expensive (feature/spec intensive offering)

They aren't sure if Sony will release a Slim, they aren't sure these pictures are real BUT they can confirm the Slim will not have 4k nor HDR support!

How on earth can one write that drivel? They can't confirm jack shit since they haven't actually used the PS4 Slim nor have they heard anything from anyone else who has. Looking at the box in the pictures or at the pictures of the console doesn't confirm anything since you wouldn't be able to tell!

There have been some elaborate hoaxes but in this case it's kind of hard to do it when it includes the box, the components inside, and they even took comparison shots between the regular PS4 and the new Slim model. Take a look at the link below. Looks pretty real to me. As surprising as it may seem, they actually managed to make the Slim smaller than the already small regular PS4. Quite a feat of engineering if you ask me.

i find it stupid how pushsqare says i don't think you can upgrade the HDD when its clear that on the back that square cutout part on the side is obvious where the HDD is.

it's like pologon said its doesn't have an optical drive buts its clear it has a power and and eject button and if you zoom in can see the disc slot.

I'm not having a go at you or anything of course, just pointing out the 2 stupid things the sites have mentioned.
the only thing i see missing is the optical out. unless its on the side in the groove or even at the front next to the USB's (which would be a weird place to put it)

i did just look even closer at the front and i would guess its at the side, i see the USB's are spaced a fair way apart, and looking at my turtle beach usb having the cable come out on the right hand side would suggest the optical port might be on the right hand side of the console near the back (speculation of course as i wouldn't see them taking it out)

At least they say "I don't think" instead of looking at the pictures and 'confirming' there's no 4k nor HDR support and still claim they aren't sure the pictures are real or that Sony is even releasing a Slim!

XB1S has a digital optical port for 5.1 surround. PS4S may or may not have one, but if it does I can't see it. This troubles me, need confirmation from the picture leaker.

i wouldn't see them taking it out. although it is missing at the back, my guess would be its at the side if anywhere, just going to have to wait and see when they show it

I have Xbox One Elite 1TB SSHD, recently got Xbox One Slim. Have also PS4 1TB HDD that I installed, so if this coming out , then I must get it!

I have Xbox and PS4. I have the Gears on pre-order but will most likely cancel as I don't think I'll have my 4K tv by then. So Im gonna hold off til next yr on a TV. Doing alot of research on the 4K tech. I can already tell you Im going 65"+ with a sit distance of 5ft. Closer to Scorpio release. I also hope we get new on HDR monitors. I do most my gaming o. Pretty dissapointed with everything that I've seen and been hearing about the PS4 Slim so far.. It's not a bad looking console but it doesn't look any better than the OG PS4's design which I think Sony hit a homerun with imo. It also doesn't come with any new functionalities or capabilities over the OG PS4 like the Xbox One S did over the OG Xbox One. Going from the OG Xbox One to the Xbox One S is definitely much more of an improvement than going from the OG PS4 to the PS4 Slim. I honestly have to give Microsoft the W this time around and give Sony the L on this one...

That new slim ugly af, looks a bit like their standalone Blu ray players. But still to think the PS4 can get even smaller and still push all that horsepower, pretty cool. The must have put the best cooling fan on that apu aswell.

That's what i call a "slim" console! The power of the PS4 in a so small black box. I don't know why xbone lovers have something to say about not bringing extra features, since always the slim versions have been smaller version of the original console.
Only MS added things. Things that you pay, since according to me a slim console can't be paid equal if not more than the old version, unless it's different or it has extras that justify the big price.
Sony releases (if it's true) a slim version of the PS4, not a PS4.2/.3/.4/.whatever. If people want an upgrade, they have to wait for the Neo.

And no, it's not something about "i have the PS4, now i get the slim too", it's "finally i can buy a PS4 because it's a lot cheaper than the original".Or at least it's how i see it.

I expected way more from sony. Not just a flat top PS4.

Even if these images are of the actual Slim (I think they are) you can't confirm anything of it since you can't see from the console looks itself that it supports 4k or HDR.
