ThisGenGaming weighs up the biggest gaming controversies of 2016 so far in the industry.
Microsoft & Xbox have shut down Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks to lay off more workers, insinuating that they're not in the game anymore.
They're headless for a long time because closing tango isn't exactly a good move
Everyone's acting now that game companies care about games and Xbox is committing the Ultimate betrayal, they are all like this and you have just been quiet about it for far too long
I wonder if Microsoft do pull out of the console market that it might open the door for valve to relaunch the Steambox. Competition is good for the industry but Microsoft don't even seem to be trying anymore.
“Your game has won some pretty significant awards and is a show piece for where we want to go in the future.”
1 hour later.
“We’re gonna have to let you go. You can’t cover our 100 billion dollar acquisition. Oh and take your awards too 👍🏾”
Sega has released its financial statement for the 2023-24 fiscal year, and profits may be up, but it's mostly not down to video games.
The Xbox brand is expanding, as an Xbox mobile game store is opening this coming July where Microsoft will brings its "first-party portfolio."
“Bond adds that they will start on the web”
This will go nowhere.
Nice knowing you Xbox. This is what happens when the house never gets cleaned.
The only this MS is expanding is the amount of feculence it sprays on everyone who just want to enjoy gaming and make games.
The best thing MS can do for the gaming industry is leave and never return.
Honestly, "controversy" like the term "epic" has been overused on many events not worthy of it's meaning. The Uncharted 4 review for example didn't need any limelight due to the fact that anyone who plays games regularly isn't going to read the Washington Post for gaming advice or shouldn't take it seriously. It's like getting angry of a bad car review in a cook book.
Next, the Overwatch issue about Tracer is a thing that puzzles me to this day.
-puts on tinfoil hat-
I still think the user who complained about the pose was either a plant or played like one to win even more attention to Overwatch before launch. I think it's strange that Blizzard took so much effort to change the pose after ONE person had an issue with it yet they didn't even respond to Zed's complaints of Symettra's Devi skin after launch. Maybe I am looking too hard into it and maybe Blizzard realized after launch that the game isn't going to please everybody regardless of what they do.
-takes tin foil hat off-
The Polygon vs Doom issue however was completely worth it because it further shows that most of the biggest names in gaming reviews have little to no gaming knowledge and have no interest to learn. Gaming has managed to be the leading forms of entertainment money-wise which summoned tons of parasites to feed of it's success. The main reason is because it takes little to no effort to make crazy money unless you are a developer or publisher, (Anita still being a prime example of this.) and more light need to be shed to oust these people who are suddenly riding on gaming's coattails.
I am very surprised that No Man's Sky hasn't earned a spot in this lineup and please ease up on the "memes" next time, just showing fact supporting your claims will suffice.
