You mean nit picks...basically because it wasn't just like FF7 and not a direct sequel. Most of the so called "complaints" are exgerated. Take the Draw system, you don't have to draw anything in battle you can find draw points, refine items, use magic items and refine cards.

basically i cant place anything above the true artistic first 3 pre-rendered Playstation Final Fantasy games ..so the list should have been like this -top 3- are 1st FF7 (no matter which is you favorite system , no matter if it is cliched to love FF7 or rank it as the best, it truly deserves it as is a true diamond from any aspect you look at it) , 2nd -FFVIII and very close to second FFIX ...these 3 game are literally pieces of art and all the rest no matter the high quality content (FF12-FF6-FFX) are far below these 3...4 th place clearly belongs to FF12 imo one of the most underrated games on PS2 and one with probably the most developer work on it.... then you can continue with the rest of them ..with all the FF13 abnormalities being at least at last spots (if it was my list i would never include FF13s , i would prefer to include Vagrant Story or Chrono Trigger as they are more true and better "Final Fantasy" games )

I share you opinion on FFVIII, and personally would rank it higher. Plus triple tiad was just so fucking addicting. Got loads of cards to mod into magic and parts. Plus idk what the big deal about draw was. Nobody is forcing you to draw piles and piles of fire xD Idk i always got my magic from card mod. Getting crap ton of abysll worm cards->Windmills->Tornad o magic then junctioning to ATK just rekts, till you get triples

Magic is a nuisance in FF8. You basically could never use your most powerful ones because chances were they were junctioned to some stat... Other than that and the somewhat cheap "they-all-have-amnesia&qu ot; plot the gam eis one of my favorites.

nah FFVIII had some flaws that made it not as as good as FFVII.

Like the non-sensical main story, characters with no story or motivation (Zell, Selphie, Quitis, that cowboy guy, pretty much everyone in the party except Squall and Rinoa), poor equipment, magic and GF system (compared to 7 that is), okay music but largely forgettable (again compared to 7).

Laguna's flashback parts were pretty good though.

FFIX... Ouch. FFIX had by far the most likeable cast of characters in the entire franchise. The visuals were also the best of any PS1 FF game. Realism is not all that matters in visuals. The artistic style of FFIX was far better than VII or VIII.

i agree and disagree with you ....FFIX indeed had the best visuals in the series and generally as a game on PS1 console ..also the artistic direction of the world (backgrounds ,etc) was also very good , maybe the best BUT the artistic direction of characters , enemies and generally of anything alive was very bad (for an FF game) ..the ultra childish designed cast which were also far apart to be characterized anime, was its worst point (i couldnt literally stand the idiotic and simplistic design of Steiner, no matter his well written humorous character)..thats why imo had the most forgettable cast

The cast didn't look childishly designed to me, they looked like creatures from another world. It personified the "Fantasy" in Final Fantasy very well.

FF9 was the best one on PS0. Graphics, gameplay, music, story and character design not so much.

Playing FFIX is like playing a dream. My only gripes with it are that it could have had a better method of acquiring skills for the characters and the skills, themselves, could have been more unique to each individual character. The stealing game ran a bit long, as well. The best one overall, IMO.

FF 6 is overrated ...all gaming sites just bash FF7 to 2nd place (which imo is the best of all hands down) just because the want to appear a bit cult with extensive knowledge in gaming (it s a long running lame trend to rank FF6 as the best though imo no 2D FF should have ranked higher than 5 place ...FF7 is the best and undeniable king FF8-FF9 are close seconds ...all others follow miles behind

People love to worship FF6, but the whole "find every decent character after the world is ruined" mechanic is bullcrap.

So tired of people just ignoring that HUGE downfall as if its just a minor inconvenience. The gameplay isn't especially fun and the random encounter count is high. FF6 doesn't deserve to be the "best" Final Fantasy.

Why is there never any love for Final fantasy V? I wouldn't put it at #1 but the graphics were great, the story was fun, every character is likable & there's like 30 different classes to choose from. The main character even has a pet Chocobo.

Final Fantasy V is unfairly lumped in with I & II but it's much better than those

Im sorry but the bottom should be consisting of Final fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning returns. And final fantasy X-2. All motomu toriyama games. And FFVIII should be higher and FF X.

6 is soooooo overrated. Its get's so much hype and for the life of me I don't know why. I think it mostly comes down to the timing it was released and the scarcity of good JRPGs available on the SNES at the time. 7 followed closely by 10 are the quintessential Final Fantasy experiences.

FF 13-2 not being in the top 5 is a crime, its great and the reason is kind of bs, there was almost no focus on lighting in the sequel, in fact her onscreen time is less than an hour.

Hating on XII's story and saying it had the best gameplay? That is a bit backward. Story would have been good if not for the 2 unnecessary children added last minute to the game. Also, gambits destroyed gameplay. Get half way through the game and now gambits will play the game for you. XII definitely earns a lower spot on the list.

Also, IX had a nice aesthetic that is a lot more rare, and a lot more pleasing than these dime a dozen realistic aesthetics. Vivi, Steiner, and Quina are the best designed characters in the franchise to me. We need more games with IX's and Chrono Cross's style. A rose (realistic design) isn't so beautiful anymore if it is the only flower you ever see.

I seem to have missed the plot in ff3 that was remarkable at all. ff13 has the worst gameplay of the series and belongs in the bottom slot. "Mash X button to end fights as quickly as possible--no strategy needed."

ff9's camera panning around the battle field for 30 seconds before the fight starts for every fight made me use a gameshark code to remove all random battles from the game. It was quite good after that.
