Impressive Fan-Made Pokemon RPG Released After 9 Years [Update: Removed]

"The creators of Pokemon Uranium have removed all download links for the game. In a statement posted on the game's website, developers said they have not been personally contacted by Nintendo's lawyers, but are taking the game down out of respect for the rights-holders.

Pokemon Uranium reached more than 1.5 million downloads." - Gamespot

It's to be expected..but after that many downloads, someone else is going to upload it. You can be sure of that.

ApolloTheBoss2850d ago

Yeah this is the internet. You're going to find it available somewhere. Guaranteed.

zeal0us2850d ago (Edited 2849d ago )

Matter of fact I should just upload it to mega, mediafire , dropbox or google drive

You work on something for 9 years, NINE, and just take it down simply out of respect!?!

If that was me, I'd still be fighting even after the lawers contacted me. 9 years is a very long time to work on a project only to have it removed less than a week later.

Spurg2849d ago

How about put some time and effort into another name for example.

CorndogBurglar2849d ago (Edited 2849d ago )

You would be fighting a losing battle.....

And spending money fighting a battle that you should have seen coming.

You can't just use another property owned by other people or companies. Its the whole reason copyrights exist.

So you would basically be spending boat loads of money fighting for something that you zero chance of winning, with no income from this free game you just made.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

Also, they didn't take it down out of respect. If that were the case they wouldn't have released it to begin with.

They took it down because lawyers started contacting other sites that were having it up for download, so they took it down because it was only a matter of time before Nintendo's lawyers contacted them too.

Thats not respect.

I understand what I'm saying isn't the popular opinion, but unfortunately its the way it is.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2849d ago

So if you created this game. You would still keep it up against Nintendo who is releasing and marketing Pokemon Sun & Moon.

That something a fan shouldn't do.

Had it been released last year at the time no main Pokemon game was announced. Then it wouldn't happen. But the fact that it released 3 months before the Newest Generation Pokemon games isn't respectful.

The Status of Every PlayStation Franchise

Sony owns a fair few iconic franchises - many dating right back to the original PlayStation. But while we’re pretty familiar with the likes of ongoing series such as God of War, Horizon, and Gran Turismo, there are plenty of PlayStation franchises that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time. So in this video, we’re going to be taking a look at the status of PlayStation’s many IPs, and checking in on when we last heard from them.

Status in one word:

Underutilized.

The end.

anast18h ago

Which ones should they utilize more?

BehindTheRows17h ago

Indeed. We hear this “underutilized” talk as if every old franchise should have a comeback or reboot.

When new IPs start looking like Concord, you can't blame people for wanting another Resistance or Killzone instead.

anast16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

J&D and Resistance are good ones. As much as I love these, though, I'm not sure they would payoff without an enormous marketing push. Younger gamers today do not have taste and the older gamers that would appreciate these might not be enough. But yeah, I would day 1 Resistance.

Well that’s just the consequence of consistently producing new IPs isn’t it. Not all studios can be or want to be like polyphony digital who made gran turismo all the time.

Here lies The Infamous Series; once a shining beacon of free flying, lighting bolt sniping, and wire riding amazing gameplay, it has been laid to rest and be forgotten for what seems like forever despite being loved by millions. Plot next to Wipeout across from NBA Jam.

Lightning7713h ago

Still baffling they cancelled Twisted Metal, Factions 2 and Spider-Man Multiverse LS game but thought Concord looked good enough.

Chocoburger12h ago

Ape Escape, Parappa / Lammy, Gravity Rush, good times. Always hoping for them to make a return, or at least similar type games, such as the newly-announced Astro Bot, but one game isn't enough. Bring back the joyfulness of the 90's era of gaming.
