Tyler from WGTC writes "To celebrate one of Nintendo’s greatest franchises, join us as we take a look back on all of the games in the Metroid series and rank them from best to worst."
The "Metroid" series has been challenging players with exploring alien caverns and stealing their weapons since the first game blasted onto the NES in 1986. Since then, lead protagonist Samus Aran has managed to survive over a dozen encounters with the life-draining Metroids and the Space Pirates who seek to control them. The job hasn't always been easy — in fact, Samus has done some pretty terrible things over the years in the line of duty — but gamers have always been more than happy to help her save the galaxy.
The Metroid series has heavily influenced gaming as a whole, but it often goes overlooked in comparison to other Nintendo franchises.
I greatly admire the Metroid Prime Trilogy. However, I don’t think Metroid is a big enough seller to be considered part of the “Nintendo Trinity”. Mario, Pokémon and Zelda sell way more and are more consistently released than Metroid.
Samus' journey to becoming the ultimate warrior has been fraught with peril. Join us as we examine her story from the very beginning.
Yes, love this. Metroid is classic. One of gaming's best series ever. Bang on with the rankings too.
Super Metroid is still my favourite. I can appreciate Metroid Prime but I've never really understood the buzz around it.. well designed game but doesnt feel like the Metroid of old.
Super Metroid all the way
Can't believe it's already been 30 years. Sort of a shame that Nintendo hasn't gone all-out like they do for Mario and Zelda, but hopefully Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a worthwhile way to celebrate.
Still remember pouring countless hours into Zero Mission and Fusion
