Great trailer, looks like the starters final evolution leak was real. Staying Litten all the way.

illgrillchill2836d ago

What do you mean about the final evolution leaks? Nothing seem to have been revealed in the trailer about that

Kalebninja2836d ago

This leak a while ago. http://pokejungle.net/wp-co...
One of the characters from the trailer is in the artwork.

KimikoGaming2836d ago

I don't see any of the characters from the trailer in the artwork.

jakewhritenour2836d ago

Mallow's outline matches the hair and flower of the character shown in Litten's evolution.

Nolando2836d ago

I like the owl, although i think the bow and arrow is kinda weak sauce design, i prefer more animal/monster designs than Pokemon resembling humans or human traits such as a bow and arrow (not all but just a preference, Machamp and Marowak are still awesome imo). I hate the fire type starter look, and the water type looks... just silly. so i guess im going grass! lol

"Alola Form" and the new games gimmick "Z-Form"

Oh come on...

Just make new evolutions or concentrate on the designs of the core Pokemon.

illgrillchill2836d ago

I agree - the new forms are essentially entirely different pokemon....missed opportunity for sure

-Foxtrot2836d ago

I know right

Like Vulpix...you could still say they are related but just a different Pokemon. Part of the same family of Pokemon.

They've literally coloured them a different colour and added a new type...that's it.

My problem is when they add a new gimmick, Mega Evolutions, Primal Evolutions, Aloa Forms etc they do it for a selection of Pokemon and that's it. By the next game they've moved on and came up with another new gimmick.

We need a reboot or something. Maybe like a new world where things are different. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire showed us that there are different worlds like one where mega evolutions happened and another where they didn't so they should either go back to the first games world and focus more on the designs/story.

I would argue that these alola forms are pretty neat actually.

Like maybe the original sandshrew was brought to these islands millions of years ago, and it had to evolve certain characteristics to better survive. granted, unless there's an ice island it wouldn't make much sense, but it lines up with real world science like the theory of natural selection and adaptation which is pretty neat, especially since pokemon predate humans in the lore from my understanding.

Nitrowolf22836d ago (Edited 2836d ago )

I don't know I'm really digging that region specific look, to me it only makes sense that pokemon of the same family would look different in different regions. I think that's a great move on the designers part tbh.

Then again, though could have expanded and made element stones more common used.

Not liking the z moves.

Otherwise, pretty hyped for this pokemon game. I see a lot of great stuff in that trailer

-Foxtrot2836d ago

Wouldn't they just look different in their normal form though? By that I mean if you found a Pokemon in a new region where the location has altered them then they wouldn't need to turn into them, the form they do turn into should be their normal form...if you catch my drift.

Like I was saying above you could still have them as part of them same family but where they come from has altered them a little. Vulpix (Standard type), Vulblitz (Ice regions), Vulleaf (Wooded/Forest regions).

Just seems like a missed opportunity...I don't see why they need to all change forms when really they could just be new Pokemon altogether you could find in that form. Like in the future you could have it so Eevees many evolutions can be found in specific regions relating to the evolutions type.

Nitrowolf22836d ago (Edited 2836d ago )

I see what you're saying now

I was under the impression that it was like that aside from exeggcute.

The Japanese trailer is a little bit different but that's shows vulpix does evolve into the snow version of nine tails. That's what gave me the impression that you can just capture those Pokemon in those forms

-Foxtrot2836d ago

Yeah that would have been better, it shows you can get different types and designs of a Pokemon opening up a lot of possibilities. You could have games featuring older Pokemon but different versions of them...I mean I find it strange you can get older Pokemon in newer regions where they are exactly the same BUUUUT you can't find the newer Pokemon in the older regions

Nolando2836d ago

So here is my question... If we catch a Aloha Vulpix/ninetails, does it always stay in that form? or if i transfer it to lets say another region, will it turn back into a fire type?

if they are forever that form and i now have to catch mutiple types of single pokemon, why not just... as you said... make it NEW pokemon in the same family as that pokemon. would make a bunch more sense. i do like the look of the aloha sandshrew and nine tails though... thexy...

I am still excited for the game just weird how they decide to label and design a few things.

-Foxtrot2836d ago (Edited 2836d ago )

Well going off the trailers my impression is they transform into that type like the Alola forms

So basically it's a normal Vulpix which transforms into one

If I'm wrong...then great because I'd prefer it that way but why would an Ice Vulpix species be located into such a hot looking, sunny place. If it was like an Arctic setting I'd understand like how we have Polar Bears, Snow Wolf's, Snow Foxes etc but it doesn't seem like that. It's like for us having a Polar Bear being found in the woods around Florida.

Nolando2836d ago

@foxtrot

Each Island has a different climate is what im guessing. or maybe there are mountain/snowy regions. im sure they will explain it some how. im interested in seeing how many pokemon they give new forms. because if its most of the 151 originals they can come up with some cool alt designs.

I believe from the trailer it looks like that this is a species of Vulpix, so if you catch an ice Vulpix, it will always be a ice vulpix... and if you catch a fire vulpix there is no way to transform it to a ice vulpix. so essentially you have to catch mutiple forms of vulpix to fill out your pokedex now...

Pookandpie2836d ago

The Ice Vulpix/Ninetales lines are members of that species that moved into the snowy mountains to avoid conflicts with the habitats of other Pokemon; a basic evolutionary adaptation, going by the type change. Therefore, if you catch a Vulpix in ice form, it should always evolve into an ice/fairy Ninetales.

The information on the Pokemon website talks about this type of Vulpix apparently changing over generations of time, so there's no reason to think that it'll suddenly switch back to pure fire type for some reason (this also most likely means that these Vulpixes will probably not be tradeable to XY/ORAS, as with any other Pokemon before with a special form).

Nolando2836d ago (Edited 2836d ago )

@pookandpie

I am actually excited for a new take on old designs. I just think its weird they wouldnt just create a vulpix family of pokemon and have their names more representative of what they really are as Foxtrot said.

Sandshrew that is ice doesnt make a lot of sense to keep that name.

other than that im impressed with some of these designs. im excited for the game.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2835d ago

The Alola Vulpix are permantely Ice type. Meaning the one you catch in that region. Now if you have a Vulpix and transfer it to Alola it may end up evolving into the Alolan Ninetails.

I actually believe the Alola forms of Vulpix, Sandshrew to be pretty awesome. In a game that tongue-in-cheek uses evolution constantly, they've actually introduced some *real* evolutionary adaptations into the game and it's a pure flavor win.

The Ice Vulpix line doesn't exist in a hot place; it actually moved habitats to the snowy environment of the mountains in order to avoid other Pokemon. The game shoves evolution into every orifice and they've actually included something inspired by real adaptation. I see absolutely no reason to complain. I also like that Ninetales seems to be modeled after that tale of a snow fox that guided travelers out of snowy mountain areas.

Man, really looking forward to these!

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2836d ago

No more Gyms.

It Trials.
Face the Island Trials Captains.
Find the Totem and beat the Pokemon Boss.
Then Challenge the Island Leader.

Four Island.
So I am guessing Each Island will have 4 Type Captains.
Then Pokemon Totem Boss then the Leader.

16 Types covered.

illgrillchill2836d ago

Interesting idea, but they showed 4... so I'm confused where you're getting the other 12 captains

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2836d ago

There are four islands. The four in this trailer are definitely on this first island.
You complete those four trials - totem boss Pokemon - Battle the Island leader
then you move on the next island.

So it safe to assume there will be four on each island, with possibly four totem boss Pokemon and one leader.

Meaning 16 type could potentially be covered.

There also and place in the middle of the four which I am guessing is where the trainers who completed all four islands will gather for a Tournament so this probably the first time the main Pokemon game will have a Pokemon League.

LuckyChamCham2836d ago

Looks great! But alas, the genwunners are on the rampage :(

Pookandpie2836d ago

You kidding? I think the ice typed Vulpix and Ninetales look majestic as all hell, and I started with the games back in 1998.
