If this end up being true, then Nintendo going to have a rough time. As Playstation fan, I respect them as my honor competitor. And I don't like seeing them go like this.

Edit : if Nintendo want to do this, then I hope they will success.

EddieNX 2828d ago

Or could end up being the best move they ever made, streamlining their efficiency and tapping into the mobile market, portable and home console market all with one device. Just sayin...

As someone who owns a 3DS and WiiU it would DEFINITELY be better if the two were combined.

[Or could end up being the best move they ever made, streamlining their efficiency and tapping into the mobile market, portable and home console market all with one device. Just sayin...

As someone who owns a 3DS and WiiU it would DEFINITELY be better if the two were combined.]

This cycle by the said companies in the game console market , are looking to expand their console brands Eco system.

Microsoft: is expanding the Xbox brand services and software into unified with their PC OS system.

Sony is : expanding the PlayStation Eco system to now include not just making just another living room game console, but now actively taking the TV itself which is becoming in its own right a general usage compute platform for Entertainment itself along with the Streaming box's and Smartphones and Tablets powered by iOS and AndroidOS to now be additional PlayStation Supported [ Nodes ] that have DNLA not only connectivity, but actual inclusion into the PlayStation Eco system.

Thus that takes us to Nintendo's recent Move: if you notice Like Sony Nintendo See the Expansion of their Nintendo game console Eco system is now adding in support for Mobile chipset lke Sony..but here is where Nintendo and Sony both overlap and branch off.

In Nintendo's case , if indeed this NX is powered by this Nvidia Tegra chipset. It would allow Nintendo to unify their mobile and Living Room Console platform to become in a real sense one and the same platform.

Porting would not be an issue when the idea would be from their game handheld to this Hybrid would migrate the very same game to each platform as if it's one and the same system.

With Nintendo's new patents the New designed game console handheld from Nintendo could be designed to be a compute satalite to something like the NX going forward.

Reibooi2828d ago

To me I think the success or lack thereof of the NX will depend on how people take to it. I mean the idea is awesome in my opinion. It would be awesome for Nintendo to not have to split games between a handheld and console. The idea of having a new Fire Emblem game that I can bring with me but also play on a TV is exciting to me.

This could in theory help with the 3rd party support as well. In recent years the 3ds has had a little less support but there was a time when it had tons of support and if Nintendo can do that again every game will be both a sit down at home experience and a on the go experience.

I'm optimistic about the whole thing but I am trying to not let myself get to hyped until we hear what Nintendo has to say about it all.

pinkcrocodile752827d ago (Edited 2827d ago )

Here we go, the news the Tegra is being used is not news. Though all the cretins out there in gaming journalism didn't even bother to check out the facts. Ok so the Tegra is being used, but do you honestly think they will use the Tegra 1 which has been out for over a year or would they use a modified Tegra 2016 model which is due out shortly.

If they used their brains, logic dictates probably a modified Tegra 2016.

As for the detachable controllers, the same rumour was used for the wiiu do again NOT NEWS.

Lets all take a deep breath, call the author a moron and wait until the reveal.

freshslicepizza2828d ago

if means the following

1. nintendo doesn't care what the others are doing or what the media/professional review sites thinks
2. that they do not care if 3rd party publishers come or not, nintendo thinks they have the best games and will always build hardware around their games, not what third party developers are doing or want.
3. that once again nintendo doesn't care about technical specs. and thinks they need to be different from everyone else to compete and quite frankly they are right. look at microsoft, how do you suppose they top sony who has no real wrinkles in their haardware/relations with developers or any real weak points now that psn is decent? this is why even microsoft is now going into a new direction and supporting the pc because even if microsoft does invest in more studios they just don't have the brand sony does around the globe and you can't really do any better other than making super powerful hardware and taking huge losses to make sure the price is still competitive.

gamerswin242828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

They dont care what others are doing? Yet they copied remote play like gaming with Wiiu lol have said they will looking into true vr after Sony has done it right and if rumors are to be believed have created a a portable with a tv dock and tv out like hmmmmmm psp go did years ago yeah you got it lol hahaha.

No it means they go their route to ensure low hardware cost and premium profit return at the cost of consumers. Cheap hardware with a twist. They throw a lil curveball in their just to attract consumers. But they screw all third party support and rely on their cartoon art style first party games but it costs everyone.

We are not fooled just like millions werent fooled by wiiu. However continue the fight my friend you are indeed a five star general in Nintendo

Fyi last time i checked Sony...
Offers great sequels
But still offers the most innovative new ips while Nintendo relies on regurgitation and has put out only like one semi innovative ip in splatoon lol
Sony hasnt followed anyones lead as they have literally created the most innovative Hardware this generation in psvr which nintendo is looking into and microsoft is copying :)

pcz2828d ago

is there consumer demand for what nintendo are offering? i dont think so.

people do like mobile gaming, but via smartphones. go to your local game store and there will be smartphones and tablets in the window- not handheld consoles. people are not going to adopt a second device. they will keep their phones and nothing else. nintendo can not compete.

and by putting such an emphasis on portability, it has come at the expense of the power as a console. why would anyone want weak console. again, nintendo can not compete.

nintendo have shot themselves in the foot by trying to appeal to everyone and ending up appealing to nobody.

i certainly dont want a big and bulky handheld (its inevitable,) neither do i want an under-powered console with a stupid controller (its inevitable) ... i think i will skip nx and buy a wiiu...

when you are willing to buy a wiiu, you know things have seriously screwed up.

Moonman2828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

Nintendo sold 60 million 3DS's whether n4g bought one or not. They know how to build a quality portable. I do enjoy Nintendo portables but wish to play some of those games on a larger screen....like a TV. A super high quality portable with excellent picture quality on a TV would be welcomed. I honestly think if they announced a PS4 clone they would get a few high fives and still sell third place once people realize FIFA or GTA is the same on their PS4 or Xbox One's. Nintendo must be different to sell 100 million of anything again. At least innovative.

Geekman2827d ago (Edited 2827d ago )

Alright, I gotta be an asshole

Nintendo is not YOUR competitor. They are SONY'S competitor. YOU are just a guy who bought a Playstation console, and thinks he is somehow important to Sony by any means other than the 400 dollars you or your parents gave them. It's like when sports fans say "WE won" when their teams wins, when they didn't do shit but buy overpriced sports packages and yell at the TV.

I know one thing. If the rumors are true that would mean that Nintendo has to support only one hardware in the long run and not two.

That could mean less dry times for the hardware..even if Nintendo itself is more or less the only game developer.

EcoSos32828d ago

This is true we're getting lots of handheld games imagine all of those and all of Nintendo first party games. I think it will be way too many games.

wonderfulmonkeyman2828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

Not sure.
Given that most of the rumors about its form factor are very vague/basic and the specs rumors are all over the place, (some saying Tegra 1, others saying Pescal IE Tegra 2, and many other rumors) it really depends on which rumors you buy into and how much you trust the sources.

One thing's for sure though; with the amount of people buying into the most negative rumors, it's quite clear that many around here absolutely dread the thought of Nintendo making a system that beats the competition in the sales races again.

iplay1up22828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

You know I love Nintendo, but if the specs on this thing are truwe, it could be on par with Wii U,for a handheld that's great, but I want a home console with decent specs, so my gameplay will be more immersive.

The Wii U has a ton of great looking games, but imagine X, with a NES more powerful than PS4!

Like I said before, Nintendo has a ton of handhelds, and to me this is just another.

Don't get me wrong, I hope this is better then I think it will be, but my expectations are much lower now. All of the rumors about it having industry leading chips may have been true, but mobile.

Big_Game_Hunters2828d ago

Regardless of whether its the x2 or x1 it won't be the same power as Wiiu.

LOL_WUT2828d ago

@GotHD You're improving by asking for things you want and that should be expected in a system. Keep it up ;)

gamerswin242828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

No they dread another Nintendo with weak cheap hardware and having to stomach just playing the same regurgitated ips with few new innovative ones. They dread no third party support and every game looking like a cartoon on cartoon network lol

lol you fans are just sick in the head with your twisting.

The "Many around here" you claim are actually Nintendo fans just not blinded by "its meeeee Mariooooo" bs over and over.

wonderfulmonkeyman2828d ago

What do you care? You're the type of hater that lies about loving their IP's and wanting them on other consoles as a third party anyways.
If anyone's twisting things, it's doom&gloomers like you, who wouldn't purchase an NX even if it beat the Scorpio in power.

gamerswin242828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

Wonderful....

Nahhhhh just not a blind all loving fanboy like some on here hint hint. I criticized wiiu to death and regretfully bought one i rarely use. I just hate fanboys whose company of choice have committed so many wrongs but they still top them off lol. And sorry dude chk my history ive never said i would want Nintendo ips to go third party lol to the contrary im tired of most of their regurgitated ips i can do without them.

Two things.....

Your the type of lying fanboy tht even if they dont like a game or a move they are so in love with a company (yeah thts weird) tht youll still say its awesome lol Nintendo can wrap a piece of doo doo in a cape with mario logo and youll say its innovative and great (yes i know your kind well)

Secondly if you follow half of my nx post youll see ive been following it and although hardware console wise it seems as a negative to me, im still looking forward to the portable aspect and gave heard it will be priced super consumer friendly like 200 and tht will sell me in it and ill buy one.

Dont get mad bcus someone calls you ut on some bs you said protecting a company you infatuately adore lol No broooooo truth hurts but facts are Nintendo themselves lost millions of consumers due to lack of games, third party support and weak hardware those are facts numbers back up :)

Wonderful...

Ive been here for a while and i already know your bs narrative and agenda. Yeah i buy the same regurgitated bs lol like Bloodborne, Drive Club, Until Dawn, soon No Mans Sky, Horizon, etc... Again fanboy the problem isnt companies making sequels and consumers buying them bcus uncharted and Dark Souls 3 are better than most games out there in any platform, the problem is the company you are in love with only relies and regurgitates. Sony not only outputs killer sequels but gives us a steady supply of brand New ips and innovative games :) but you already heard me say that and chose to ignore that part of my argument because you had no argument.

Smh fight tht good fight fanboy lol

wonderfulmonkeyman2828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

"tht youll still say its awesome lol Nintendo can wrap a piece of doo doo in a cape with mario logo and youll say its innovative and great (yes i know your kind well)"

This coming from the guy that probably buys the regurgitated third party titles year after year, which is only further supported by the graphics whore typical disdain for non-realistic graphics. Check your glass house before throwing stones, fanboy.

Moonman2828d ago (Edited 2828d ago )

Maybe this was how they get back in the game sort of mid generation.. and then when PS5 is announced, they might have something else or upgrade this model somehow....

LOL_WUT2828d ago

Oh yeah lets just totally ignore the PSK and new X1... ;)

Well , Nintendo stop doing this ! you are completely deluded in your "innovative" thoughts , which aren't making anyone who buy your console stop regretting down the line .

Fast forward a year and nintendo is going to be touching undertown if this goes on , forget the specs and everything .
Handheld devices cannot keep up anyday with normal consoles due to usability issues , i will never be comfortable playing any shooter/racing game on an 8 inch tabstick .

Ok you say nintendo is not for shooters/racing people then yeah that's kind of sad that nintendo has failed so hard that it is just characterized by its marios and pokemon games that do not intrigue 10+ year olds. (be honest to youself)

Nintendo - failure confirmed to launch unless the speculations are bullshit .

Although after nintendo's previous failure i expect them to foreshadow their ultimate console till the official announcement , which will be the ideal kill to its competition since , sony and microsoft barely recognize nintendo's existence atm.
This would not only make them the single ultimate console producer for a while but also render sony and microsoft in a state of commotion to release their consoles and end screwing up with it.

As for if the rumors are true, people at nintendo must be suffering from compulsive failure disorder (double or nothing).

MasterCornholio2828d ago

Nintendo should just do their own thing. Hopefully it turns out well for them.

81BX2828d ago

Seriously. Nin hasnt followed the masses and are still here. I just think they would sell more if they priced the systems better. The wii u cost way too much if you ask me.

Nintendo Is A Bad Company, But We Can't Help Loving Them Anyway

TG: “Most of us also grew up with Nintendo, likely forming a nostalgic connection with games that have long been crowned as our personal favourites. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was an experience that shaped my view on open world fantasy, and Super Mario 64 changed my life like it did for millions of others. These titles have earned their place in history, and remain loved to this day for so many worthwhile reasons. We replay them and beg for remasters all while delving into their worlds time and time again because they mean that much to us. It’s a shame then that the company behind them often kicks its own sweet darlings to the curb.”

I never got the love for Nintendo games personally. The annoying vocalizations and ugly character designs do nothing for me.

Another very weird article.

Nintendo is a great company by almost all possible normal measures. The biggest one being: their own staff is happy, and they seem to be very happy, well compensated and retain rate is solid. They are also financially very stable, profitable, and cash rich, so shareholders love them.

Overall it is an extremely creative group of people, and their mission statement is fantastic as well "to put smiles on the faces of everyone we touch. We do so by creating new surprises for people across the world to enjoy together." The social impact is also massive, not to speak culturally. Additionally, they have a really strong core business, high customer retention rate and loyalty. Nintendo's reputation is extremely good, I think in the US alone they are 9th most reputable company, their customer service is better than the average company. Plus, the press gives them a pass, because they are Nintendo. But there's a reason why they do that, it's not "because they are Nintendo", there are more layers to the argument.

Then, then there's the random negative gamers online...and their "reputation" which is inside their heads. And their western ideas of how a Japanese company should behave or what they should do. But they have no right to ask a company to do anything for them, because they can vote with their wallets.

There's a small vocal community online who dislikes Nintendo for what they are, but then again, there's always a small vocal community that dislikes something.

Nintendo also disagrees with the Western world about IP, but most people call Westerners "hidoi!" when they emulate Tears of the Kingdom and do not experience it the way Nintendo wanted them (even if it is not the best visual way), because it is a matter of principle to them (Japanese are very much against anything close to plagiarism, and there are laws that are tight about creative works copying etc.)

The Western Braveheart "freedoom!" shouters need to understand that it is not an American company, nor they need to behave like one. They can have their own fights based on their principles (against emulation). And they very well may lose the battle with that and change, or find a new audience.

In the end, it is so very simple. Don't buy the products if you don't like a company, but there's no need to paint a picture that is unrealistic about Nintendo either.

MadLad332d ago

I hate virtually everything about their business practices, actually. Suing everybody for virtually anything, shooting down fan projects, games they never let devalue, their online infrastructure and how they handle BC.

They're lucky they make great games, because that's the only thing I feel they do right.

gold_drake332d ago

my issue with them, is the complete refusal to have decent tech for us.

and their odd censorship and lawsuits for modders.
