Those Marvel Ultimate Alliance Remasters Are... Rather Pricey

Over the years, games based on popular Marvel properties have traditionally been hit and miss. For every Spider-Man 2 there’s been an Iron Man or Incredible Hulk waiting just around the corner. One series that bucked that trend was Marvel Ultimate Alliance and today it's back.

It will be half price in no time. Which is when the vultures will swoop.

KosherNostra2847d ago

I'm guessing PS4 isn't gonna get Marvel Super Heroes anytime soon, or the price point on these games wouldn't be nearly as high.

Magic_Spatula2847d ago (Edited 2847d ago )

The Steam page is full of negative reviews citing various issues with the PC ports, and apparently Ultimate Alliance 1 doesn't have the DLC characters. I don't even think it's a remaster either. It's a straight up port from the PS3/Xbox 360 versions.

PhucSeeker2847d ago

So just like Prototype and Deadpool. Damn, color me surprised, freaking Activision.

CorndogBurglar2847d ago

That isn't true. I cant speak for the PC version but the PS4 does have slightly upgraded graphics.

Unfortunately the DLC is not there for MUA1, however, people that remember the xbox 360 days will remember that the DLC was permanently removed from Xbox Live right around the time that Disney bought Marvel. I'm not sure why that would have anything to do with them not having the DLC, but again, tue DLC was taken down from 360 permanently and you could no longer purchase it.

The fact that MUA2 includes the DLC tells me that there is some legal reason why the MUA1 DLC can no longer be included or sold. Otherwise they would have included it. This isn't Activision being pricks. There is some other reason, clearly.

Summons752847d ago

Have you LOOKED at the prices for the PS3/360 versions. $77 for UA2 ONLY and $80 for the first but you are calling 40 bucks for a remastered version plus ALL DLC pricey and a $20 discount if you buy them both together? You sir are insane if you think better versions at a much cheaper price is "rather pricey".

Mikelarry2847d ago (Edited 2847d ago )

only MUA2 comes with all DLC, MUA doesnt

P_Bomb2847d ago

This isn't a PS3/360 disc though, it's a ps4/Xbone/PC digital download port. It has no resale value, no collectors value, no case no nothing. It's digital, so it's not a limited edition, it's not numbered, it's not exclusive, it's not even a legacy title in the vein of GTA, FF, MGS, Zelda. It is what it is...and what it is, is overpriced.

Price should be more competetive ala Rockstar's recent line of spruced up ps2 to ps4 games (bully, gta3, vice city, San Andreas, manhunt, Warriors, Max Payne etc) imho. 'til then, I still have Ultimate Alliance on ps2, so I'm good to wait.

yeahright22847d ago

Doesn't that assume that the ps3 and 360 prices are perfectly acceptable?
I mean if they double the last gen price and keep the remastered price the same, it will be an even better deal. and if they raise last gen again, better still. See the problem?

CrimsonWing692847d ago

Here you have it ladies and gentlemen, I present to you this current generation of gaming! Man, so this is what we get: 1080p with minor interface changes AND framerate issues with no DLC characters. These are $40 a pop or $60 combo'd.

Who the !$&@ asked for these!? Activision is really digging deep into the doo doo dumpster with these "remasters"! I'm so glad they gave us Prototype Definitive Edition and Dead Pool a...just Dead Pool on PS4 edition. Yknow the games that we really needed for this generation at an extremely reasonable price.

Good gawwwwwd please don't let this continue on next-gen. I might as well as quit buying games now and wait for the 4K versions on next-gen...the HD squared editions all upscaled in 4K barely and with no DLC and performance issues and at full price! What a deal!

OldGuyStillGaming2847d ago

And Deadpool is still in the $40 range
I have yet to see it cheaper

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

RavenWolfx23d ago

Yeah, I loved the Legends games so much.

ZeekQuattro24d ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B24d ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff218324d ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh24d ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia24d ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

MasterChief362423d ago

I thought it looked awful, but I actually fell in love with it. To this day one of my favorites on the Switch.

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

MasterChief362423d ago

Yeah I'm kind of miffed about that headline. But the information in the article does give me a little hope. I really want to play these games on the PS5! I would assume if Activision actually is planning on relisting them on the Xbox Store, it would be relisting them on the PS Store as well?

Abnor_Mal24d ago

The first game was the best imo.
