GameCrate: "I don't know how to describe Super Mutant Alien Assault other than fun. It's not a spectacle in game design or a contender for any awards, but it's fun — like, a lot of fun. It's also pretty hard to dislike on account of how much fun it is. And I know I just used the word “fun” a bunch of times, but I really couldn't help myself. The game combines a little Super Crate Box with some Rogue Legacy, but has enough unique charm to stand well on its own and create a good arcade shooter-fest."
