Germany´s minister of interior blames violent video games for the Munich attack?

It´s time to play the "Let´s blame everything on the video games" game again, because the Munich attack appears to have been blamed on violent video games by Germany´s minister of interior. So this would be my (Robin Ek, TGG) take on the matter.

Prove it with actual proof not hearsay .

TGG_overlord2851d ago

They won´t do that, because they got a hidden agenda which they want to follow through with.

ULTp0ltergeist2851d ago

Yeah, like not blame it on the new labor force?

shadowfax332850d ago

they can easily fabricate any evidence if they want..they have done it multiple times with those so called (terrorist attacks)..and the sheeps always believe whatever they are told, even if it was obviously a made up story..

Christopher2850d ago

What a horrible hidden agenda. Ruin one of the most profitable industries to sell political views!

Gardenia2850d ago

Yes because depression wasn't the reason. Treatment in a psychiatric hospital wasn't the reason. No, it was playing shooters

I get so fed up with those people blaming music and games for something that goes much deeper than simply a hobby. This world is a fucked up place, and some people just can't handle it. They are going to do stupid shit because the government is failing in actually helping those people

Cost way too much money to help all people in need

SaveFerris2851d ago

Governments can try to censor and/or ban all movies, videos, music etc. that they deem unacceptable, but it still would not stop violent acts like the events in Nice or Munich from being carried out. If someone is determined enough, no law is going to stop them.

TGG_overlord2851d ago

Exactly, you´re 100% spot on. And I hardly believe that the 1972 Munich massacre had anything to do with games...

uth112851d ago

That was the year pong released though...

Silly Mammo2851d ago

@uth - Coincidence? I think not!

TheCommentator2851d ago

What was to blame for most of the atrocities committed towards man before video games? Religion. Or insanity. I mean, we've had several milennia of violent acts that occured before the advent of video games, gyrating pelvises', and Reefer Madness.

It was once said to me that a good manager looks outwards when things go right, praising those around them for their successes, When thing go poorly, a good manager looks inwards to see how they could have done better with managing their team. It's time for this douché to look at the real problems and not some scapegoat to wash his hands clean with.

SirBradders2850d ago

Intact these incidents would become more common because most of the population would have no form of entertainment.

Gwynbleidd2850d ago

Yeah, unfortunately the conservative wing in Germany always tries to spin, that people that execute such tragic gun rampages like in Munich have been heavyly influenced by violent games. As if that was the cause and not the assassins phsychological problems....
I hate those kind of arguments! I could easily counterargue with some other stupid stuff like: 50% of all gun rampage assassins play videogames but 100% of them eat bread! Stop serving bread!

Anything to get the eyes off crack pot Merkel

Ristul2851d ago

Merkel should be deported to the middle east pronto.

Null19802851d ago (Edited 2851d ago )

How about the Holocaust? Was that due to video games too? -__-

edit- it was not my intent to make them feel bad about it. The point was that evil has always existed, regardless of video games.

And regardless of what kalebninja says above, it is important to post this article. If the politicians have their way, they'll censor games even more. It's good for everyone to be aware so we can voice our opposition back.

TGG_overlord2851d ago

No, but as you might remember. The original "Wolfenstein 3D" was banned in Germany because of the Natzi-related content. And if I´m not wrong now, the other Wolf titles has been banned as well.

Null19802851d ago (Edited 2851d ago )

Yea, my point wasn't to make Germany feel bad about it. Lots of great people from there. I was only pointing out that it's silly to blame video games, bc evil always exists regardless.

And on your point, it's silly to cover things up. Acknowledging will help the world to not make the same mistakes. Assassin's Creed hasn't shyed away from acknowledging slavery, or the corruption of the Roman Catholic Church.

SegaGamer2850d ago

Their argument is so stupid that you could counter it with a few words that would leave them totally speechless.

All you need to say to them is "What came first, violence or video games?"

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6921d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos21d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius20d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8521d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius20d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
