I think it will definitely lead to demand for some of their older games to be remastered- a tough feat considering the age of some.

thekhurg2854d ago

Why? They all use the same engine dating back to Morrowind so porting them over to Fallout 4's version of the engine is just more modding work. That's their specialty anyway so it won't be difficult for them to do.

Pixelart2854d ago

No Skyrim doesn't use the same engine dating back to Morrowind.

thekhurg2854d ago (Edited 2854d ago )

@pixelart

You are incorrect. It's the same engine. Gamebyro is the foundation of their "creation engine". They just did enough modification to change the name by adding little features not supported by the core engine at the time.

There are still gamebryo strings in the skyrim and fallout 4 executables.

_-EDMIX-_2854d ago (Edited 2854d ago )

@thekhurg- No and no and man........no.

I really wish you'd just research before you post.

thekhurg2854d ago

@edmix

Or you could do research. It's the same core engine fanboy all you want but there are gamebryo strings still in the skyrim and fallout 4 executables. Good luck in your crusade of being wrong though.

BongSmack2851d ago

Isn't saying they're the same engine a little bit like saying a father and son are the same person?

They should remaster fallout 3 game of the year edition.

_-EDMIX-_2854d ago

Would buy...

i'd like to see Fallout 3 and NW in Fallout 4's engine, all DLC.

If Skyrim does well, I'd like to see the same team they have remastering Skyrim, do Fallout next.

hirobrotagonist2854d ago

Are people not going to buy the next Elder Scrolls if they don't cave in to demand from fans to make other remakes? The answer is no and this article is pointless.

_-EDMIX-_2854d ago

Agreed. It just makes zero sense.

Reibooi2854d ago

I just finished a play through of Morrowind and it still is a great game to me. That said a remaster aside from just making it easier to play the game on current hardware would be kinda pointless. Morrowind needs a total remake which would scare me as I think they may take alot of what made it special out because of the market today.

Currently I am playing Oblivion again and honestly it would not take much to do a nice remaster of the game. If they wanted to really do something special they could fix the character models and lighting and basically keep everything else the same and I think it would work. The game is a deeper game then Skyrim but one who came from playing Skyrim first would not be lost in my opinion. Who knows what they would do but I would love to see something if we really are gonna have to wait as long as we do for Elder Scrolls IV

gunnerforlife2853d ago

I wish they'd fix up the buggy games first before trying to rip us off with ports. Their games are so buggy and messy it is ridiculous.

LOL what a sensationalist title.

No, Bethesda won't die with just 1 game flopping although I doubt the Skyrim HD will flop anyway. But with the PC version given for free and a ridiculous $60 for consoles, it won't spark any sales chart on fire for sure.

fiveby92854d ago

I agree it won't set any console records but I'll bet it sells reasonably well even at $60. But if not perhaps the price will drop quickly.

Pongwater2854d ago

Yeah I saw the title, laughed at it, and won't be reading the article. It's too stupid to even qualify as click bait.

ArchangelMike2854d ago

Well, when it comes to Elder Scrolls VI, they better have updated their game engine... and how about polishing the facial animation, and the animation in general. Other devs these days are now into performance capture and it shows in the games. One thing that set The Witcher 3 apart and why it broke records with its GOTY awards, was it's general level of polish in every aspect of the game.

thekhurg2854d ago

Bethesda are largely modders hired from the elderscrolls modding community. You're asking them to do more development style work which is not their strong suit.

kassler2854d ago

Bethesda is doing better than ever.

I Think It's About Time We Realize Fallout 4 Wasn't That Bad

Ahmed from eXputer: "2015's Fallout 4 received harsh criticism upon launching, but I think it was unwarranted and the game deserves more praise than it got."

helicoptergirl4d ago

It was totally that bad. I couldn't finish the campaign it was so bland and boring as I recall. Got so sick of it. 1000 stimpaks on hard. It is very rare that I play half a game and then just quit. I usually always finish it. But i was so bored with this game I just stopped and never went back and never regretted it. Just thinking about that game makes me shudder

Furesis4d ago

That's exactly what happened to me too lmao
Fallout 4 is not a fallout game period it's a bethesda game

Vits4d ago

The comparison with Skyrim is mind-boggling. Yes, Skyrim has streamlined many of the systems that Morrowind introduced. However, it did not tamper with the core of the Elder Scrolls franchise; it did not diminish the freedom and sense of exploration that made Bethesda RPGs famous. Fallout 4, on the other hand, did exactly that to the Fallout series. It eliminated what made Fallout such a beloved series to play. There are no consequences for your choices, no reason to explore, and barely any interesting set pieces in the game.

It's not terrible, but it's a painfully mediocre game in a franchise that typically doesn't produce such mediocrity. So that is why people see it as bad, the bar is just much higher.

anast4d ago

They both feel the same because they are, it's just that one has swords and magic and the other has swords and guns.

anast4d ago

I'm replaying it now. It sucks. I'm about 30 hours in and thinking about quitting again. I am so tired of the dialogue I just spam a random button because it doesn't matter. The upgrade just feels like a graphical mod, everything else is not good.

Good-Smurf4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

I couldn't play the game as-is it was insanely boring and grindy and the grind itself are not fun at all.
Mods helped me stomach the game a bit better but after a while I just stopped playing and uninstalled it because the game did nothing after the first few hours to give me any motivation to keep playing it, it just became a mindless looter shooter with obsession in settlement building and defending.
Compared to F3 and FNV, F4 was barely a mediocre game it wasn't bad but it's also very forgettable entry.

MrDead4d ago

It's not that bad after 300+ mods that fix it's issues and make the game fun... but lets not talk about mods right now as they are f****d.

They really need to get rid of weapon mods and bring back more unique weapons that are hard to get / find

anast6d ago

They won't improve it other than a slight graphical upgrade. They have always been better at live action than making games.

MocBistro6d ago

Only way it could improve is taking it away from Bethesda and regroup Classic Fallout (1&2) devs with decent budget and time to make it.
