‘7 Days to Die’ Review | Analog Addiction

Jamie Briggs, Analog Addiction. "7 Days to Die is a horrible port that is so technically broken that I cannot even comprehend how it has been launched in this state. Despite having a unique and interesting premise, the console execution has been so poorly produced that it should be avoided at all costs.

If you desperately want to experience 7 Days to Die’s unique brand of zombie survival crafting that is your decision, but be mindful 7 Days to Die is borderline unplayable, broken, and frustrating. With such an interesting premise, it is unfortunate to see such an excellent idea presented in such a poor product."

Wow i don't see the logic in these reviews. We better go back and give minecraft a 2 out of 10. This game is fun as hell and lots of ppl on my friends list are playing it. Crazy this is and i don't believe for one sec these ppl are playing this game longer then and hour and its still a work in progress game. Its got some bugs that will be fixed but its not unplayable.

Hey mate, thanks for posting. The issue is the game is barely playable, there are a lot of good ideas here and as I said in the review I love the premise. But when I'm walking through the environment and the entire game vanishes for a good 30 seconds, before I fall through the map and die (dozens of times mind you) that is a fatal flaw.

Great premise or not, if they want to release a product in this form they will receive scores like this. Maybe in a few months down the line the game may be fixed in order for the experience to be more stable, but in the condition it is now I believe the score is more than justified.

As I said in the review, there is no mention of Early Access anywhere within the game (I reviewed on Xbox One where they actually have an Early Access program) and that means it is reviewed like every other release.

I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and I'm happy to hear you are still having fun with it, but in the competitive market out there, there are a lot of better products that are a lot more stable.

I hope that clears things up :)

The issue is you clearly don't know what "unplayable" means.

This playable alpha has fewer bugs than the average finished Bethesda game has, imo.

tell me jamie, can you turn on the game. does it have a blue screen right off the bat? no.

Can you start up a match or find a lobby to jump inot, yes,

can you kill zombies, build a base, and survive - yes.

That makes the game playable. if the game was as unplayabvle as you claim it to be, you wouldn't have been able to get past the loading screen. you hold its lack of handholding as an issue, and that you needed online help to firgure out teh 8 step tutorial... that isnt the games fault, thast yours. if you dont know how to gather resources in a game like this that these games arent for you.

Combat isn't broken. its not the best but it isnt broken. if it was i wouldn't have over 200 zombie kills on my solo game. and with all these issues you had, not one screen shot to support it in your review. surely if this was true you would want to warn people by showing them what it looks like....

Curious as to which platform you're playing the title on. The PC players seem to be having a more positive experience with it, whereas the majority of critics playing it on Xbox One (and to a slightly lesser degree, PS4) have been panning the game for the exact same issues identified in this review. On Metacritic, the Xbox One version has an average score 35 while the PS4 version has an average score of 43. Between those two pages, there is only one "positive" review score between all 26 critics. Even the player opinion of the game has it sitting between 5.0 and 5.8 depending on the platform. Conversely, if you look at the PC version, there are no critic reviews as it's not a full release yet, and the average player review is a far more positive 7.3.

It's also currently identified as being an Early Access game through Steam, as the reviewer has noted, but it's been given a full release for consoles without any indication of it still being a work in progress on those very platforms. Given the sheer number of issues which seem to be plaguing the console versions of this game, an unfavourable review score is more than fair.
