The best MGS game to date, would love a remake.

KingKelloggTheWH2845d ago

I personally prefer 1, but dang I would love to play them all again in a real remake.

Movefasta19932845d ago

4 for me.3 was great, but the controls were clunky as hell.3 with phantom pain's movement/gamplay+ graphics would be perfect, but you know...

Shubhendu_Singh2845d ago

Someone should make a add-on for Chrome and Firefox, that hides all the stories related to Konami...

because it freakin breaks my heart everytime I see this sh*t.
It's like...See how amazing a remake we could have had but here's your pachinko machine instead, F** ourselves.

If Konami had a brain... they'd be rolling in it by now... but looks like they hate money.

Maybe you better read up on how much Metal Gear Solid 5 has been rumored to have costed vs. How much it actually sold because if you do a little math you'll realize it actually doesn't make sense to even continue making Metal Gear Solid and I'm a huge Metal Gear Solid fan merely pointing out their financial situation doesn't actually make sense to ever go that route any longer.

at least not at that budget.

Many users on here have no idea financially what goes into creating games they just seem to think that you make the game and then profit they don't really understand that the cost of some of that development may not be fully recouped consider they might have taken out large loans seven years ago to get the game done thus have high insurance rates just the cost of the game is actually much more than what they initially began budgeting for 7 years ago you seriously have to just do the math to figure out sometimes those type of games don't make sense for smaller publishers.

It seriously is not as simple as it may seem. Consider Metal Gear Solid 5 didn't even sell as well as some of the Assassin's Creed games, it was in development two and a half times longer than a normal Assassin's Creed game yet made less money you really don't have to be a genius to figure out that maybe a metal gear solid game doesn't make Financial sense for Konami any longer.

As a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, as a huge Kojima fan and a realist in regards to business I agree with the split.

The parties involved just all wanted different things and in the perfect world Kojima could have started remaking Metal Gear 1 preceding Metal Gear Solid 5 and then Metal Gear 2 and so forth but the reality is if the money isn't there it's probably best everyone Parts ways as it wouldn't really help the gaming industry if Konami went out of business and Kojima to be known for being one of the factors in it

MGS5 apparently cost $80million to make and made $179 million worldwide on its first day on sale, sure it was a massive gamble, but it paid off in the end, and was great business for Knomai. Now it's too late though, they didn't trust their product and pretty much burned every bridge they could due to it, I'm not going to pretend Konami are hurting or in a worse place as Pachinko is cheap to make and highly profitable, but don't pretend MGS wasn't viable anymore, it probably made more in 1 day than every Pachinko machine Konami has made combined.

How much it cost source: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/mg...
How much it made day 1 source: https://www.vg247.com/2015/...

Edit: You seem to think Assassin's Creed games weren't absolutely massive up to about Unity, AC games have outsold plenty of others, using them as some kind of measurment to show if a game did well, shows how little you actually know. As for you saying with interest it cost more, it still made all it back and then some in 1 DAY, there is literally no way you can argue it was not viable, badly budgeted sure, poorly managed sure, and even poorly marketed, but still very viable. Also a source to back up your claims would be nice.

The game cost $80 million (including the development of the Fox Engine .. this is important) the initial work started in 2010 and was mainly on the engine which took a little over two years to develop, the actual development time for the game is around 3 years which is average for many AAA games.
Last confirmed sales number estimated 5 million copies sold. So that $300 million .. but lets speak realistically .. your $60 dollar purchase is divided as:
20% for console manufacturer + 20% for retailer + 15% marketing + 15% developer + 30% publisher
So for every retail copy Konami made 45% and for every digital copy they made 65% .. if we take an average of sales between hard and soft copies to say that Konami made 50% ,, then they made a $150 million return from their investment with $70 million of that as pure profit making an estimated 190% return on their investment .. add that to the 5 year development cycle it'll mean they made a $14 million a year as PURE profit .. not counting DLCs and micro-transactions and continues sales of the game ... all that and its been nearly a year out.

I don't see this as a sign of a failing "department" of one large organization with multiple businesses under it's portfolio .. plus they have the FOX Engine which can cut the cost down when making a new game, they have the resources (human+technical) left from Kojima Production and the means to cover their overhead.

It's just simple, they don't care about this industry anymore because from a business perspective this is a very viable investment for a company that owns many IPs and "Had" their respected name in the industry with the means to continue.

@IIFloody- "MGS5 apparently cost $80million to make and made $179 million worldwide"

With interest, that $80 million is likely around 110 million.

Also factor they would be making the next MGS on LESS platforms, not more. ie 3 platforms instead of 5.

"but don't pretend MGS wasn't viable anymore" Its not, I'm a huge fan, even listed MGSV as my GOTY last year on the user awards on this site......

Its not when you factor it can't outsell an Assassins Creed game, despite being in development LONGER on MORE platforms, what happens when its on less?

Mind you, those Pachinko machines are also not costing the company 80 million, that isn't even including interest rates or marketing...

Even as a huge MGS fan, I fully understand why Konami is going this route. They can't have a HUGE AAA title on 5 platforms, in development for over 7 years, costing them well over 100 million...only result in 6 million sales.

Fallout 4 was in development for around 4 years....

Moved 12 million in 1 day, on 3 platforms.

On paper, MGSV should not be moving less units, but is. Its just reality that its not THAT wanted to warrant such meaty development.

An MGS game can still happen, but not at the huge cost that MGSV was at.

I also don't think they've burned as many bridges as you might think.

Many on N4G seemly over react to a lot of junk they read on the web that doesn't really have much real world effects....

MOST I assure won't even know of such a split, just gamers like you and I that read gaming news often. If that was the cause, Witcher 3 would have sold more then Fallout 4, Battlefront would have not sold 13 million and Battlefield would be outselling Call Of Duty every year and COD would be selling crap.

Lets seriously put away what we read on comments vs reality bud. I actually don't think such a split will effect sales of a potential MGS ..THAT much. ( i mean...no Kojima, no buy for me, but I'm not sure the other 6 million feel that way)

I felt MGSV would have been moving at least 10 million considering MGS4 on 1 platform moved 6 million.

For MGSV to move.....well 6 million too, while costing MORE MONEY and having a LONGER development......that is something that seriously needs to change in order for Konami to make money and still feel ok making a MGS.

Konami loves money, that's why Pachinko exist. It makes more money than an actual MGS game.

Why Metal Gear Solid 3 Is The Right Game To Remake First

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is getting a full-fledged remake. Admittedly, this isn’t the first Metal Gear game I’d pick to get an overhaul, but it makes the most sense for a lot of reasons. For starters, it’s an awesome game.

because not only is it the best in the series but also chronologically the start of the series!!! bring it on!!!!
