I wonder how many people who paid 60$ and above for Evolve will be pissed if that happens.

PixelGateUk2858d ago

if it does go free-to-play, i assume retail owners would have access to locked content and other perks

mister_zolos2858d ago

nah i will not be pissed, the game on pc its dead atm its a lost cause to try to get in a round to play online its a 40 euro loss other way so if free to play model revive this game im happy with that

slavish02858d ago

none of them play so i dont think they care

zeal0us2858d ago

None since majority of them have move to better games already.

Bahamut2858d ago (Edited 2858d ago )

Most of them already feel burnt from the lack of content, so this will just be icing on the cake. It's a shame too because Evolve had a lot of potential. If they would have added more monsters, game modes, maps, and skins that could be unlocked without spending real money on them, that would have been much better.

To those of you who played the game, why isn't there a monster vs. monster mode? Or a 2 vs. 2 monster arena? Why not? Or how about a game mode that pits one team 4 humans against another team of 4 humans? Why not?

Even without a story mode, they could have added soo much more content.

Fist4achin2857d ago

Valve treated it like HL3. They just didn't give a shit and scrapped it.

mhunterjr2858d ago

Why would the be pissed. The game is currently a ghost town. If they want to salvage some value out of the purchase, they should be happy to get new players into the mix.

Too little, too late. The game is already forgotten.

qwerty6762858d ago

I think the funniest thing is they were promoting it as an esports game before it even developed any sort of competitive playerbase.

ShinRon2858d ago

They did that with battleborn too, i guess it makes them feel good...

Majister-Ludi2857d ago

It definitely had potential though. Let this be a lesson to all games. When dlc fractures the community and your game dies don't wonder why.

thejigisup2858d ago

i believe f2p will breathe some life into this, the only reason i didnt pick it up was because i didnt want to spend more than $10 on it.

MilkMan2858d ago

I bought this POS, so if it goes F2P, then does that mean that my $65 bones covers all the DLC? This game was a pile of heaving crap. Ill never cold buy anything from these guys again.

Bahamut2858d ago

The game was hardly a POS, it just lacked content.

Brettman20082858d ago

The DLC is still stupidly expensive.

Bahamut2857d ago

@Brettman2008 Oh definitely.

Evolve or Die: The final days of the follow-up to Left 4 Dead

Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.

‘Evolve: Stage 2’ is back from the dead as peer-to-peer servers come back online

From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.

Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."

^^this, I have so many awesome skins on Xbox that I’d rather not lose

Germaximus645d ago

Yes so far because it's just the servers alone coming on and the console version never had the free-to-play update.

I imagine if they find people playing the PC version and enough players are enjoying it then they'd probably reconsider opening console as well but I wouldn't count on it.

The game was epic as a monster. Hunters were really boring to play as to me.

LordoftheCritics645d ago

I used to play this a bit.

Was kinda fun.

Evolve or Die

Evolve is an asymmetrical multiplayer experience born at the tail-end of the wrong era, in the multiplayer world.

Great idea but poorly executed and destined to fail from the begging. Only thing I’m grateful towards this game is that it’s the one that convinced me to never buy a game blind again.

Shadowrun for the Xbox 360/PC would of been a better example of a great online game that launched At the wrong time.

Livingthedream1113d ago

Shadow Run was fantastic! Would probably do alot better now.

DaveZero1113d ago

Is this a new evolve game??
