5 reasons to buy 7 Days to Die

IM PLAYIN:

"7 Days to Die has been getting a lot of heat recently. For a game that’s been out for almost three years, it’s had most of its negative press in the last three days. But that’s what you get for taking a game that’s not quite finished on PC, and porting it to console."

Why has this game had a lot of negative press in the last 3 days? The article brings it up and then never extrapolates upon it. I've been playing around in this game with my friend since alpha 8 or 9 (for about a year or two), and it's really doing nothing but improving.

I think its because of it releasing as a finished product while still being in an alpha state. That and the graphics and framerate on the current-gen consoles is pretty bad as well as the poor controller menu functionality.

The game is fun to be sure but it really should've been a game preview type thing.

I love this game but the devs and publisher asked for all the negative reviews by releasing a playable alpha that wasn't labelled as such.

@Capricious - The PC version isn't exactly a looker either. The console frame rate chugs when the game autosaves, which happens a lot. Last night's patch helped that a little, I think. It fixed some things anyway, and hopefully future patches will do the same. The menus are awkward but I was surprised at how fast I got used to them. Using the various shortcuts helps a lot, but the game leaves it up to the player to find those shortcuts for themselves. Future patches could change the interface a lot.

Bottom line, like you said, they released an alpha as a finished game and put a relatively high price on it.

Ah, I wasn't aware that they released this game on PS4 in the last few days. It's improved a lot since the dark days of alpha 13, I think was the one where I found the game almost unplayable, but it's still not what I would call a finished product, lol. From what I've played of it, there's no way this should have been a retail release- at least not yet. I've put something like 200 hours into the game, coming back every so often to try what's changed and sometimes being quite satisfied with the results, but I could very easily imagine being pissed off if I picked this game up for PS4 and was expecting something less buggy and not an alpha.

Hopefully the patch updates keep coming for both PC and PS4- I love the game a lot, put about 200~ hours or so into it, but I at least knew it was early access going in. Now I feel bad for those people who picked this up, unaware of what they were actually getting.
