That is exactly the case for the subject of review here, The Banner Saga 2, from developer Stoic Studio. The first game in this proposed trilogy, The Banner Saga, received rave reviews when it released on consoles earlier this year.

Ultimately, you’ll be captivated by the characters and the over-arching story. You’ll feel compelled to succeed in combat to protect those under your stewardship and, of course, study the picturesque landscapes through which your caravan travels. Before you know it you’ll have whittled away what seemed like minutes but was in actuality a couple of hours. Now that’s a saga as it should be.
