Quake Champions will be PC-only to avoid 'limitations'

Destructoid writes:

'No excuses', Quake. When Quake Champions was announced at E3, it ruffled some feathers. In one moment, it made the PC crowd jump for joy when id Software noted that it would be 120Hz. In another, they crashed a lot of old school arena shooter fan's hopes ...

Thank God I've built myself a PC xD

Null19802876d ago

Makes sense. Even though I mostly game on console these days, I was huge into the original Unreal Tournament and Quake III Arena on PC during that era. They're so twitch based, it just doesn't work well on console. I'll be upgrading my PC around the holidays for sure.

BigBosss2876d ago

I was wondering though, what about the PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio, won't it run very well on those consoles?

Null19802876d ago

performance -wise yes. My issue is that super fast twitch based shooters need mouse and keyboard support. Maybe they'll add it. They've done it before.

theIndianNoob2875d ago

I dont think its performance based. I think its more about how the game's pace suits Mouse and keyboard more.

Sie2875d ago

In a completely selfish way im more than happy that its PC only, not so much because of performance but proper Quake multiplayer games are just not meant to be played with a control pad.

Im just planning an upgrade for later in the year ready for Quake I just hope we get a release date at Quakecon. I also started online gaming on unreal tourament but quicky found Quake 3 arena that took over my life, really hope they do the new one justice.

I started out with quake2 pc, got it again on n64 with 4player splitscreen, fun times :) I feel like other consoles should experience quake, why just doom? Well its loosing out on a great title. Maybe unreal will come to console.

Rimeskeem2876d ago

Well, they will certainly be limiting sells...

BlacKJesu52875d ago

7 Game Series in Need of a Reboot

Rebooting seems to be all the rage these days, so here's Chit Hot's picks for seven game series that need a reboot.

RavenWolfx349d ago

Dino Crisis and Legacy of Cain I can get behind. The others, meh. I would also love to see a Remake of Resident Evil: Outbreak, Legend of Dragoon, and Jade Empire.

SpacedDuck349d ago

I absolutely love Banjo Kazooie but holy crap is a Dino Crisis remaster such a massive opportunity for Capcom.

The engine they have used for the RE Remakes is perfect and it would be so cool to see the first two games remade.

isarai349d ago

Mercenaries, True Crime, Dead to Rights, Max Payne, Manhunt, Duke Nukem, Prince of Persia, Burnout, Matrix, Outrun, Jet Set Radio, Otogi, Kenka Banco, Syphon Filter, Power stone, San Francisco Rush, and despite not being a series, BLACK

The Saints Row reboot needs a reboot. Saints Row 2 holds up quite well, but the original needs a remake at least. Keep everything exactly the same, just with better graphics.
