With it being on sale, I'd agree that it's a good time to buy the game but it still has a few issues that need addressing like rage quitting. That being said, the story mode addition is actually pretty good for a fighting game and almost on par with MK's latest entry. It does a great job showcasing the cast and for some people, introducing people to some of the lesser known elements of the SF story.

freshslicepizza2869d ago

the season pass is almost the same price, lol

Majin-vegeta2869d ago

@Affro have fun waiting forever

AwesomeKiddo2869d ago

There is no point in buying the season pass.

NarooN2869d ago

@afro

Capcom said there won't be any "New Editions" of SF5.

Silly gameAr2868d ago

@affrohop

HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL!

The lack of single player modes was always a weak argument against the series, and rage quitting is a problem in most Fighting games, heck, most online games, so it isn't fair to single out Capcom.

Hoffmann2868d ago (Edited 2868d ago )

"The lack of single player modes was always a weak argument against the series"

Probably because the older SF games did not lack single player modes.

"Lol no. Street FIghter's core fighting mechanics blow the hell out of sloppy ass GG. Their games are a frantic mess of unbalanced chaos."

Wow.

SatanicEyeJesus2869d ago

I agree. SFV gameplay is awesome and if Capcom didn't have screwed with the lack of content, IMO, it would be one of the GOTY. Unfortunately is not the case anymore, but SFV is the BEST fighting game of the year, now with this content is another reason to buy.

Hoffmann2869d ago (Edited 2869d ago )

It is dumb to call it the best fighting game of the year just when July started and games like KOF XIV and BlazBlue Central Fiction are on the horizon.

gamerswin242869d ago

Yeah i have high hopes for them especially kofxiv

SatanicEyeJesus2869d ago

Sorry pal, Its just my opinion. Maybe playing the franchise since the 90s make me fell real closer to them and i really enjoyed the gameplay more than the other fighting games I've played this year, and i love fighting games. Maybe KOFIV convince me otherwise.

Silly gameAr2868d ago (Edited 2868d ago )

But, you're M. freaking Bison. You're in this game. No love for SFV? Bet you just love the movie, huh?

KentBenMei2868d ago

"Probably because the older SF games did not lack single player modes."

They're inconsequential, only casuals care about them and real SF fans don't care about casuals. SF should have two scores, one for derps who want to see Cammy's "backstory" and set a high score busting barrels and another for competitive fans.

As a barrel busting story game SFV is a 2/10 but as an EVO material Fighting game it is a solid 9/10.

How is 8-frame lag and whiffing awesome?

dedicatedtogamers2869d ago

*ahem* Guilty Gear -Revelator-?

Please. SF5 has very solid core gameplay. Heck, I'm not even going to complain about the 'lack of content' because I knew that ahead of time and I waited to buy until about a month ago.

But GG has so many more modes -- both online and offline -- it's not even funny, not to mention the core fighting system is miles beyond anything you can do in a Street Fighter game.

SatanicEyeJesus2869d ago

Guilty Gear is really awesome, I'm really enjoying this new one, the storymode is huge, looks like a RPG, hehehe!! But i stick with SFV. As I said to Hoffman, maybe is just my long relationship with SF talking, actually, there is no best, only different tastes, right?

KentBenMei2868d ago

Lol no. Street FIghter's core fighting mechanics blow the hell out of sloppy ass GG. Their games are a frantic mess of unbalanced chaos. No thanks, I prefer the perfect pacing of SF. It isn't balanced either but it's as close as the genre gets, sadly.

PurpHerbison2869d ago

Best fighter goes to Guilty Gear Revelator.

ShadowKnight2869d ago (Edited 2869d ago )

The gameplay is awesome but I still think Mortal Kombat is the best fighting game currently. But SFV is definitely up there.

SatanicEyeJesus2869d ago

Mortal Kombat is really nice indeed!

Bought it day one dont regret it.

Just a heads up peeps the new update is a 2 part. You will get your automatic update that fixes gameplay and stuff.

2.to get the stoey mode you will have to get it from the PSN store.
Add ons>New>should pop up

Flewid6382869d ago

No more 8-frame lag input and whiffs????

PurpHerbison2869d ago

You must of got a decent price for it on day 1 then. I feel bad for anyone who bought it full price.

Hoffmann2869d ago (Edited 2869d ago )

Must -buy my arse.

The game still stinks in comparison with the competition. The Story mode is only half as long as the one in MKX or MK9.

RosweeSon2869d ago

Gameplay craps all over MKX Tho.

Hoffmann2869d ago

That's just your opinion, man. When it comes to gameplay, both games are excellent.

The missing content, the bad netcode and online problems and Capcom's attitude shrinked the fun of SFV.

Flewid6382869d ago

While you are correct, the gameplay is still terrible. lol.

Majin-vegeta2869d ago

@Hoff what bad netcode??The netcode has been stable for over awhile already.Ive been playing all nigbt since the update yesterday and have only ran into like 5 bad online matches. All rest were buttery smooth.

PurpHerbison2869d ago

From a casual standpoint, yes.

Majin-vegeta2869d ago

Lol tell me that when it doesnt take MKX a whole freaking year to get gud online netcode.

NotEvenMyFinalForm2869d ago

Or when they stop treating PC gamers like second class citizens. Those scumbags stopped supporting the game on PC and gave the middle finger to everyone.

Street Fighter 5: Analysing a Tarnished Legacy

Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.

Terry_B131d ago

Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.

SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.

SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.

kevco33130d ago

I've had every Street Fighter on launch since SFII on the SNES. SFV is definitely my least played of them all.

SF6 is very good. You should give it a second look.

Terry_B130d ago

Maybe in 2-3 years when there is a version that has characters I care for.

So far there is not one of the new characters I like..and my favourite 4 are not a part of it either. (Bison, Balrog, Sagat and Vega) + the whole hip hop style and the crappy music turned me totally off.

Looking forward a lot to Tekken 8.

Sano24130d ago

SF4 vanilla was loved by most and and not considered a misstep. It wasn't until they went revision crazy that people started turning on Capcom.

Terry_B130d ago

Don't remember the criticques it got for the big hands and feet, the sometimes weird looking faces, the lame boss (Seth) and that so many characters were shotos and yup..the many new versions. Just every SF got its haters no matter how good it was.

Nerdmaster129d ago

It was criticized for the first trailers having an interesting art style with those ink splashes, but the real game had none of that and people felt cheated. And Capcom decided to add some of those effects in the game later because of the backlash. But I don't remember any other big complaints about it.

EvertonFC130d ago

I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.

CrimsonWing69130d ago

I dunno, I like Street Fighter 5 quite a bit. 🤷‍♂️

Shiro173129d ago

Sf6 is the best sf since sf4ae lol
