I wonder how many Sony can actually provide day one... that is October 13. They seem to have a real problem with keeping pre orders in stock for longer than an hour. So, will there actually be day one stock? Or is it all pre orders?

well they may be limiting the amount of pre orders available.

example if they have 1million units of PSVR available through preoders, instead of having all avialable at once, they limit lets say to 20k per batch, helping keep the hype up as well as guage how the sales are going.

If the first batch sells 20k within 2 minutes, and the second is within 3 minutes, but the third batch sells out in 20 minutes they know the hypes isnt as high, they can choose at that point to begin advertisements for it, or release another batch. but if say they were all taking 20 min to sell out and then after E3 it takes 30 seconds to sell out, they know the hype is there and they can begin producing more units.
