Ghost Recon follows the trend of many game franchises and goes open world with the newest installment Wildlands. But is that a good thing?
From GameWatcher: "Ubisoft is working on a multiplayer PvP game named BattleCat that brings together The Division, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon characters, according to a recent leak.
BattleCat is very likely an internal codename used for the project that includes members of Splinter Cell's Echelon, Ghost Recon's Wolves, alongside The Division's Cleaners and Outcasts as playable characters."
Why does Ubi shake Splinter Cell in fans' faces only to put it in sh*t we never wanted?
Title Update 2.0 also includes community requested features.
Nelia writes “Ghost Recon has released a number of games for people to enjoy and play. Here's a list of the top ten we think are some of the best.”
Ubisoft has a formula that they stick to in their open world games. It’s not a bad formula; it fills their world with things to do. There are side activities, collectibles, distractions in abundance. But the formula has been used in countless other open world games.
Am I the only one that got some little SOCOM feelings from this game? :O
What really struck me about this game was the sheer scale of the open world. I've never seen one that actually has landscape so massive like that. Most games compress things down a lot more, even if the overall map is large. I honestly love that they have a world that is not just big, but seems to have an amazing sense of scale.
If you put a tactical, deep game into a world like that, it's bliss for people who like realism and immersion and fancy graphics. I was disappointed then, when the gameplay videos showed something more akin to a more typical third person action game.
Then again, I may just be asking too much. "Give us more depth, more detail, more tactical combat" is easy to say, a lot harder to implement in a game like this, while still maintaining a high quality bar. This also relates to what the article talks about. It's probably really difficult to have an open world with tons of freedom but still maintain highly detailed and complex and rewarding gameplay.
Go ahead and get all excited and hyped about it and then it will be just like the division....all show and no substance....
Not sure what else could be expected. All games run out of things to do and become boring. That's when you hit New game and do it again but take a different approach.
