IncGamers Diablo network site, Diii.net explored the Battle.net history and potential for the future in a feature article a few weeks ago, and are now releasing the second part, with all the juicy details of exactly what features have been definitively been confirmed. The gaming network for WarCraft, StarCraft and Diablo is getting a serious revamp.
The preview article looks at a large number of Blizzard quotes that have been puzzled together to show us a grander whole. Even though Blizzard have said that they are "not talking about it right now", it seems they might have said more about Battle.net 2.0 to different reporters than they think...
Diablo 4 is going to be more visually appealing on PC, with ray tracing arriving on March 26.
The game is saved we have better lighting in a game that has a top down view hazahh
Who says a dud game can't have a video game comeback?
Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.
A return of the classics Return to the mid-'90s, where two storied universes from Blizzard Entertainment began, as three legacy titles launch today on Battle.net for the first time! This year is the Warcraft universe’s 30th anniversary–the perfect time to revisit the first tales of Azeroth–and hot off the heels of the release.
it's fun to speculate. i don't think bliz is innovative enough to include a bunch off social networking type features, but they might surprise us yet.
I'm just wondering if this will include StarCraft, WarCraft II and Diablo II.
Battle.net 2.0? Sounds dangerously close to 'Web 2.0' and we all know how naff that was...
Lets just hope Blizzard doesn't go overboard and actually keeps the things which are good about Bnet now. Really don't want something like Steam making the installs very difficult (I don't want to buy a DVD in store and then have to download over two gig of rubbish just to install it like the Half Life episodes, that's what the DVD is for)
The article is very tight, and very accurate. I just returned from PAX, where we interviewed 3 different Blizz reps about the 3 big games. They mentioned the Battle.net upgrades specifically, and how they think they are going to contribute massively to the online gaming experience with Blizz games. They are working HARD to make Battle.Net a positive, very easy to use bit of software.

Heh, the author messed up Diablo and StarCraft in the Achievement paragraph.
Besides that, though, it was an interesting article to read indeed, having an AMM system for StarCraft 2 will certainly make the game even more appealing to me.
