Here are three things fans were expecting from Sony's E3 2016 press conference that just didn't happen.

add to these Crash still owned and developed by Activision and Norman reedus.(ps--->i m super hyped and excited for Kojima's Death Stranding and probably is day 1 for me ..but Kojima should have replaced Reedus ..his face isnt likable for a game and kills smthing from the potential of the game)

Movefasta19932896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

'his face isnt likable for a game' that's subjective, i don;t see anything wrong with his face for this type of game we don;t really know anything about...But Crash's character model looks terrible, something about the art style is sooo off. hopefully the remasters have abtter art style for crash.

freshslicepizza2896d ago

the remaster of crash was an easy cash in and sadly activision doesn't see a new game as being very profitable otherwise they would do it.

#2, release dates. once again they are very vague, show games that are so early in production you wonder why they bother but they love to build hype so its not going to stop.

#3. no neo news. sony cowardly didn't want to talk about it and i don't blame them since they are trying to market psvr still.

_-EDMIX-_2896d ago

@Moldy- "the remaster of crash was an easy cash in and sadly activision doesn't see a new game as being very profitable otherwise they would do it."

Why is that sad? Buddy....legit, stop adding emotional concepts to business ones. They don't see it for a great reason, they know the money it brings in better then you do. Sony is likely bank rolling those remasters, something Activision wasn't going to do and I can't really blame them and I'm a Crash fan, but I also separate how I feel personally about a game from business.

I know Crash isn't what it use to be. You would need a whole new drastic reboot and even that is a risky venture. It could be done though, with the right budget, right marketing, they could make a healthy return.

Release dates...irrelevant. Sony and MS can market their games how they feel. Sony had more in development, thus can afford to market much longer. They still want to see fan reaction and still need to market reasons to own a PS4, not just THIS FALL, but ALL YEAR! I see no wrong in a release date not being known. Irrelevant bud. Unless it never comes out, no one cares.

No Neo news I'd also say is irrelevant. You still need to like the games coming to a PS system to market it bud, this was the right move for them based on what they have. They might want a full reveal on their terms closer to when they launch it. MS not launching their platform til next fall, but they also not beating Sony soooooooo lol

Sony is right to wait and market PS4.5 when they have the time and when they can lose as few sales in the process.

18 months to basically not buy a XONE waiting for a better one lol That is also 18 months for Sony to turn them into a PS gamer lol

Well, they'll get my cash. It's not a new reboot or continuation or anything, but I've enjoyed the remasters of other classic games, so I'd imagine it's better than nothing. If they do well, maybe we can get a proper game in the series.

#2

I'll just put this here since you're concerned about release dates

http://n4g.com/comments/red...

Just because the release date wasn't at the conference doesn't mean the games don't have release dates. I did one for MS too. Only 4 games were likely to come out after 2017. The rest are either confirmed for within the next 9 months, or probably candidates for next year. Only 4 games were early in production, or it was too hard to tell where they were in production because not enough was shown. You're either greatly over stating the number of games with no dates, or just unaware of what they are. Considering you seem to be so concerned about it, I'd think you'd want to go check out google to find out when those games are releasing.

#3

Cowardly? Sony already said they weren't going to talk about it. Doubt it had anything to do with the Neo. They didn't want to talk about it because of other reasons. Companies don't chicken out at a major trade show. They're there to sell their product, not hide it in the shadows hoping people will simply buy it once it goes to retail.

KwietStorm_BLM2896d ago

His face isn't likeable for a game? LOL

Fist4achin2896d ago

@moldy bread

Maybe Activision will have to go the route of doing a new Crash if enough players bail on COD. I know I'm tired of COD after BO2. No more of my money to them unless they bring something new and fresh.

gangsta_red2896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

I wasn't impressed with a lot of what Sony showed but their new God of War floored me.

Edit:
Spider-Man was fantastic too.

Kribwalker2896d ago

I agree. People claiming it was their best E3 ever and I thought both ms and Sony were just ok. Sony revealed 5 new exclusives and ms had 3. Otherwise it was all multiplat and previously announced. Gears dead rising and Forza horizon all looked great to me, as did God of war, and that Spider-Man looked amazing. But mostly multiplat and only a few new games announced by both parties

Christopher2896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

3 to 5 new IPs is the standard, though. I'm not sure why people are surprised by how much new was shown or why they expect a lot more.

I get the not being impressed, especially if you don't care for the games shown. I just don't get that complaint when it's been standard since long after the first two or so years of the PS2 era.

gangsta_red2896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

The God of War and Spider-Man games were definitely the highlight of the Sony's presentation. I am actually thinking that E3 should be every other year, this way this will give time for Sony, MS and Nintendo to develop games and show gameplay as well as announce new projects.

Having E3 be yearly just isn't enough time as most of these shows just show off what they had from the previous year as they fill up the gaps with multiplat games.

Gears, DR4 and Horizon 3 looked great also from MS, but the rest of their show feel flat. I know a lot of people liked the Scorpio announcement but to me that was 'meh'. Show me games to get excited for Scorpio, not what's under the hood.

darthv722896d ago

there was definitely a more mature theme from sony this year. As if they just want to concentrate on open world designs and vast distances instead of bringing back some of those quirky and fun elements from their early years in gaming.

Kribwalker2896d ago

@christopher

Maybe because last year we were spoiled rotten by both companies E3 conference. This year just felt off.

rainslacker2896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

The only time you really see more exclusive announcements is during the console launches. I thought both conferences were great. I felt Sony overall had the best presentation, and I personally found more games I'd be interested in.

Definitely saw a few that make me want to keep my X1 though, and that's what I was primarily looking for.

We Happy Few (love that kind of dystopian stuff)
Scalebound(which I was kind of not into before)
Recore(which I was into)
and probably Halo Wars 2. (love strategy games)

On Sony's side
Well...probably 75% but these stood out if you consider all titles, but keeping it to exclusives(
GOW4 obviously
Horizon(get more hyped with every new showing)
TLG
X-Wing VR
Spider-man

And as a side note, even though not exclusive, I walked away actually interested in a COD game....but that's probably more Activisions doing, and that may change when more info is released.

Sony started the show with a full scale orchestra leading to the God of War reveal.

They showcased a great selection of big budget titles coming to PlayStation in 2016 and beyond.

Let's break it down shall we:

1. God of War PS4 reveal
2. Days Gone PS4 reveal
3. Horizon Zero Dawn new gameplay and a release date
4. Spiderman reveal - created by insomniac and Marvel
5. Resident Evil 7 reveal - exclusive demo and release date (PS VR compatible)
6. The Last Guardian trailer and release date (dreams do come true lol)
7. Detroit Become human - choice and outcome trailer
8. Crash Bandicoot trilogy remastered from the ground up on PS4
9. Batman Arkham VR this fall
10. Engaging Call of Duty gameplay
11. Here they Lie (PS VR horror title)
12. Fairpoint (PS VR title)

I might be missing a few things but you get the gist of it.

@gangsta_red

Nah Not really. It doesn't really matter if you liked it not. I'm just sharing the stuff that stood out to me at Sony's conference.

Edit: Juxtaposition.

gangsta_red2896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

"I might be missing a few things but you get the gist of it."

Actually I don't, was this reply meant to spark some kind of change of heart for me?

Edit:
Oh okay, it's just that you replied to me so I assumed you were speaking directly to me. I guess I'm just used to how normal conversations function

fanboysmackdown2896d ago

Spiderman and Horizon for me, God of Snore not interested. And that thing from Kojima.....probably three years away. The rest don't float my boat, maybe Res Evil.

_-EDMIX-_2896d ago

Agreed. I'm buying some of MS titles on PC and I still think Sony ran game on MS this year as they do every year.

MS didn't have bad showing like (Nintendo bad) but it also wasn't that good.

Gears 4, ReCore, Sea Of Thieves, Scalebound....oh so titles I already knew about, coming to a PC I already own?

Um...ok.

Out of those, I really only want Sea Of Thieves and Scalebound, ReCore looked soooooo bad, it looked LAST GEN BAD! Played a wait and see on that title and it just looked awful. I worry about that game based on how Mighty No 9 is shaping up.

That being said, 2 games we already know about coming to PC with just trailers isn't really that big of a deal.

EA...lets say we all feel their event wasn't that good. I'm still buying BF1 and Mass Effect, but I STILL AGREE that it was a bad event for what they showed.

No real news on Star Wars games, no real huge reveal for Mass Effect, basically most of their new stuff is just underwraps and they didn't have much to talk about.

Sony on the other hand...they began the show with a BANG with a new God Of War, then new reveal after new reveal after NEW REVEAL! From God Of War, Days Gone, Spiderman, REVII annnnnnd they've already beat MS press event lol Detroit, Horizon, The Last Guardian etc was just icing on the cake.

_-EDMIX-_2896d ago

...lol. MS did a good job letting me know to just keep my PC.

Sony sold PS4's with their event bud. You can't find those titles anywhere else that Sony publishes.
Yet..ReCore, Gears 4 and Scalebound all coming to PC! lol

MS showing was bland. I think it gave me aids it was so bad lol

gangsta_red2896d ago

You seem to be under some delusion that I actually care that Xbox games are coming to PC. I think it's cute you do but here's a news flash bud, I don't. Shocking right!?

MS sold you on keeping your PC? Lol, well bud that was exactly their plan so thanks for becoming a win 10 customer and joining the other millions on xbox live.

And who said I was going to find those titles anywhere else besides ps4? And why would i even care about those titles selling more ps4!?
I love how you make up your own craziness to laugh and argue about

Enjoy your AIDS edmix, I'm positive you were laughing out loud when you caught it.

_-EDMIX-_2896d ago

@G-Red- "You seem to be under some delusion that I actually care that Xbox games are coming to PC"

You sure cared about it when you kept making it seem as if it would never happen.

1 year later....here we are and all but Halo is coming to PC and that is very, very likely next lol

I called this legit....a year ago, was stated it wouldn't happen...here we are.

ReCore, Gears Of War 4, Forza series, Scalebound...allllllll coming to PC lol

Did I tell you or did I tell you?

'MS sold you on keeping your PC?"

Nope, MS merely sold me no NOT buying a XONE LMFAO!

I'm not buying a console for 2 or 3 games bud, not when I have a gaming PC. Mind you, who said I got Windows 10 lawfully? LMFAO! I can't be a "customer" of Win 10 when I gave MS zero money for it sooo yea.

I won't buy an XB bud, I'm just keeping my PC and PS4 combo.

"Sony sold PS4's with their event bud. You can't find those titles anywhere else that Sony publishes"

Just saying...they sold PS4s with their event.

I don't need a XONE to buy the games MS showed.

Sure happy they are doing the PC thing, never wanted a XONE for 2 or 3 games, don't need one. This is a win/win for me as I've been saying since the rumors FIRST started about MS no longer making exclusives for XB.

"Enjoy your AIDS edmix, I'm positive you were laughing out loud when you caught it."

I don't care much for most of your views G-Red, but this.....this gave me the LOLZ!

uth112896d ago (Edited 2896d ago )

The way I feel about it is all the Sony games had great trailer, but when it comes down to it, I wasn't interested in buyong most of the games they showed except Horizon and Detroit.. Last year was much better.

NapalmSanctuary2896d ago

Mafia 3 and The last Guardian are the only games that haven't disappointed me yet.

crazychris41242896d ago

Mafia 3 looks better and better with each new piece of gameplay.

NapalmSanctuary2896d ago

It looks like the control of uncharted meets the open world of GTA meets the level of player choice of MGS5. Also, I used to live on Calhoun st. I can't wait to go for a no collateral damage run through.

blackblades2896d ago

Those some lame disappointments. You don't see me saying it's disappointing cause there's no japanese games I wanted. That's why there's other event through the year.

rainslacker2896d ago

We tend to get a flood of Japanese games at TGS. Shame there weren't at least a few more at the conferences though.
