Digital Foundry:
An enhanced remaster of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this October. This new Special Edition is the first we've seen of this series on console to date - it's a native 1920x1080 production, and based on trailer footage so far, it's also seemingly set to run at 30fps. We're promised quite a bit more though, and indeed the game borrows features from the more modern iteration of its Creation Engine, adding the rendering techniques for volumetric god rays and water shaders seen more recently in Fallout 4.
Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.
RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.
"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!
How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera
And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
A new Partner Spotlight Sale is now live on the Switch eShop, including Skyrim, lowest price ever for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and more.
I wish they would just give us the ability to tweak the graphics how we want them. I'd rather run higher than 30 FPS with some lower graphics settings.
As someone who HATES the bloom effect, I honestly think they overdid some of the lighting effects in the remake. II prefer the crisp looking version of the original on PC. Other improvements to things like plantlife and water look good though
I wish they would have done a true remake ala R&C, and Gears X1.
Meh. i would prefer morrowind or oblivion not this cr@p
I'm sure it looks better than the old vanilla version. Unfortunately it doesn't look better than 5 year old mods.
