Telltale Batman Reveals New Screens

Telltale Games, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment, today unveiled the first look at BATMAN – The Telltale Series ahead of its worldwide debut this summer.

PixelGateUk2893d ago

looks slightly sharper, hopefully there's less tech issues in this one

Garethvk2893d ago

That would be great. Telltale is usually good about that.

NukaCola2893d ago

Does look polished. I am going to complain but not really complain, I was hoping this was going to be more black adn white like a Sin City graphic novel. I don't know why I thought that the whole time, probably the logo.

jb2272893d ago

Well they are claiming that they've got a new engine for this one going forward so I guess we will see. At this point I've gotten so used to the trademark TellTale glitches & hiccups the games may not feel the same if they actually run smoothly...

I'm kinda surprised by the more modern art direction they've taken though. The prerelease stuff looked like they were going for that more minimalist Year One vibe. Have they announced what time frame this story takes place in? Seems more modern really. Either way the game will be cool, but it ain't quite new Arkham levels of excitement from me. The TellTale method is starting to show its age as of the Michonne series. Nice way to kill some time but nothing to write home about.

KentBenMei2893d ago

Arkham series was trash. I don't want some generic open world action game, I want a good story like the comics and animated series gave us.

jb2272893d ago

@kent

Wow really, you thought the entire Arkham series was trash? I mean it lost the plot from time to time but I'm a huge fan of the comics & animated series, I grew up on them...the first 2 Arkham games written by Paul Dini were phenomenal stories & extremely fun games for me. They mixed so many disparate elements very well.

I honestly don't see how TellTale's writers will be capable of telling a better Batman story than the man who created the Batman TAS & helped to create Harley Quinn herself. As far as I know, it's not like someone like Geoff Johns or Scott Snyder is writing this game, so I just can't hang my hat on some idea that TellTale staffers are going to knock this one entirely out of the park w/ so little information to go on.

-Foxtrot2893d ago

Looks like any other TT game

Why do people go on about the same old boring FPS games and yet praise to the high heavens TT point and click games which use popular franchises to gain more interest.

Garethvk2893d ago

I dod not mind Borderlands but the pre sequel was more fun to me.

Majister-Ludi2893d ago

Because they at least know how to tell an interesting story that takes place in a universe I'm a fan of. Those boring fps games you mentioned are just that boring. TT gameplay leaves something to be desired but story fills that hole.

-Foxtrot2893d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

I'm sorry but

1) Their stories are not all that amazing, better then FPS stories sure but don't make them out to be the holy grail when they are not. Take the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Borderlands names away from the games and people wouldn't give a shit, they'd be average.

2) Just because you have an alright story shouldn't hide the fact that their games still look the same, feel the same and play the god damn same. That's highly unfair.

It's double standards...at the end of the day if a FPS game can look/feel the same after all these years why can't TT get the same backlash.

Kreisen2893d ago

I feel TT really have to sit back and rethink their whole approach to game design. Stick to point and click but do something about the way you engage the player

Timesplitter142893d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

because telltales games are fun and the visual style is fun

-Foxtrot2893d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

I don't get how with like over 10 games they've done which all play and feel the same they can be still fun

They've done nothing to change things up or evolve the genre.

If they did their own game from scratch it would probably not be that good as they don't have brand name behind it to boost it's popularity from the get go

Another double standard is how when Heavy Rain came out it was criticised on some of the things the Walking Dead was praised for, thus winning GOTY.

KentBenMei2893d ago

Their stories are not always amazing, agreed, but TWD was outstanding. And nobody cares if the games look and play the same, it is about story. FPS rely on gameplay to draw people in so they cannot look and feel the same like TT can. It isn't double standards because they are different genres. If TT was making shooters I would agree.

-Foxtrot2893d ago

It can't just be about one thing and then ignore everything else

What if CODs stories were amazing, doesn't change the fact how generic they are now or how boring they have gotten does it.

vanethe2893d ago

I hear you , I only played TWD and TWAU just for the story . they are games where I kick and relax and enjoy them slowly.

KentBenMei2893d ago

"It can't just be about one thing and then ignore everything else

What if CODs stories were amazing, doesn't change the fact how generic they are now or how boring they have gotten does it."

But it can be about just one thing and ignore everything else. It's called "redeeming value." If I make you the best tasting dinner you've ever had but it looks like trash and doesn't smell particularly good I can bet you'd still come to me every night.

You're also forgetting that FPS as a genre is out to do things that TellTale's games aren't. You're comparing apples and oranges. Aside from both being technically considered "video games" there's no comparison between them and so obviously different standards will apply. You remind me of people who complain about Visual Novels. It is illogical to go into a Visual Novel expecting Grand Theft Auto, it doesn't work that way. We rate games based on what they are, what they are trying to be, and how well they do it.

camel_toad2892d ago

Leave it to TT to make the most generic looking Batmobile possible. It looks like a "rad" car from a generic 80's movie that would only be cool in the 80's. (ie. The Wraith, loved it as an 80's kid, horrible in every way now)

Troy Baker voices Batman.

Dude is in everything.

goldwyncq2893d ago

Troy Baker and Laura Bailey again, why do those two have to be together in every project?

Sunny_D2893d ago

I love the walking dead games so here's hoping this can blow me away.

Microsoft's Absurd Antics Have Me Scared For Dishonored And Arkane Lyon's Future

With Arkane Austin no more and Lyon living for who knows how long, the superb Dishonored is in serious danger; Microsoft cannot be trusted.

Relientk7723h ago

I love the Dishonored series so much and really want Dishonored 3. Microsoft better not screw this up.

JEECE20h ago

I mean, I think the fans will probably kill Arkane Lyon by cooking up reasons to hate whatever they do next without playing it. I've never seen a game so artificially disliked as Deathloop.

thesoftware73019h ago

Lol, why don't we just say, we are worried about all studios owned by MS now. They will keep closing studios until they have none left ...🙄

Skuletor17h ago

Just merge them all into a single studio, have it churn out a single Call of Duty every year and call it a day, lol.

Barlos16h ago

Don't be scared, you'll be fine.

Skuletor16h ago

It's exputer, fine is one word I would not associate with them.

Profchaos16h ago

I think it's becoming clear based on matt bootys comments there's no future for any IP that can't sell above 10 million within the launch window. But is also a small game that gives them prestige

/S it's beyond a joke right now

Bogus!
Why would Sony do that and how would this benefit them?
1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event.
2) Risk of not having great coverage or proper coverage from the various source
3) It could give the impression that they are not confident in their own stuff.
4) They would miss the chance to hype the event losing viewers and losing free marketing time.

Again I'm calling it bogus unless it's a small showcase before the big one or because they want to announce that Hellbalde 2 is also coming on PS5.

SlothLordPootus21h ago

As far as I can remember, they typically give a week heads up for these sorts of things.

Lightning7721h ago

I was about to say Sony always gives a week in advance for their show.

VersusDMC20h ago(Edited 20h ago)

Last year it was a weeks notice.

https://blog.playstation.co...

May 17th announcement for may 24th show.

VersusDMC20h ago

Nintendo always tweets that a direct is happening tomorrow but no one cares.

Sony gives a week or days of notice and we get anti sony type fake outrage like this.

But good luck trying trying to get some Sony hate going...

Petebloodyonion20h ago

You just mention it!
Sony gives a week in advance NOT just a couple of days.
So I fail to see what Sony's hate movement I'm trying to start when it's a basic business strategy to not piss off your partners (ask Sega).
And I doubt it's hate to ask how it would benefit Sony in doing so.

thesoftware73019h ago(Edited 19h ago)

@Versus
Huh? What?

Bro you really should relax, if what you read was some kinda negative against Sony.... seriously, is that what you got from the comments?

Bro, he was debunking the rumor, and gave perfectly good reasons why it would be unlikely, and your Nintendo Direct comparison is different, as this is supposed to be a BIG Sony showcase, not a surprise 20 min direct, and Sony 's pattern has been one week.

Slow down warmonger.

VersusDMC19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

@thesoftware730

"1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event."

That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind?

And it's not like they need that many resources to cover the stream. They just need 3 people to react to the stream live and make some easy articles made up mostly of summaries of Sony provided press releases. They would have enough time to "prepare" if it was announced with one days notice.

Petebloodyonion17h ago

@Versus
" That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind"

No, it simply implies that some media all over the world might (keyword MIGHT) not properly cover the event like having proper articles for each game announced, or having a proper preshow. maybe some popular YouTubers won't have time to prepare or simply your local newspaper doing an article on tech and game.

So why would Sony take a chance?
What benefit would that give them?

Petebloodyonion20h ago

Before I get tons of replies for Sony given a week in advance, my initial comments are related to the notion that the Show could happen this week as the title mentions.
Now to be fair the complete article mentions that Jeff said the Show could happen later in May giving time for Sony to give the normal 7-day notice.

Again not trying to start a negative thing here just thinking that it's bogus that Sony will have a show this week

notachance19h ago

Yeah as much as I’d like to hear what sony’s 1st parties have cooked, it’s not their style to shadow drop a showcase.

Still waiting for ghost of tsushima 2, I’m ready whenever man..

KwietStorm_BLM15h ago

You're assuming media outlets don't know about it.

gold_drake11h ago

i can tell you that no one cares if ign is pissed or not.

watching a livestream and writing stuff aint the world. many habe done that before your god ign.

fr0sty7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

As a former gaming journalist that covered Sony & Nintendo's E3 conferences 3 separate times and was flown out to multiple press events for THQ, Square, and EA, let me inform you of this thing called an "embargo" that journalists are put under... it's very possible that details of this event have been given to the gaming press, but they are not yet allowed to discuss it. In fact, that may be where our leaker got their info...

Petebloodyonion5h ago

Tks for sharing this info :) but let's be honest I doubt that Jeff Grubb would left in the dark due to his notoriety while the rest of Gamespot ppl are in the knowing.

Going in with no expectations but likely will see something that resonates with me.

I hope there's something impressive in there.

DeadlyFire14h ago

Nah they will announce it probably, but it won't happen right away soon though yes.
