Peter Writes: Let me start off by saying that these are not the most influential FPS games of all-time. With the new DOOM out, I thought it’d be fun to look back at the FPS games that have withstood the tests of time in my memory.
Virtuos is currently working on a multiplatform Unreal Engine 5 remake, which is rumored to be The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
I thought they’d go for Morrowind first to be honest but this is a welcoming surprise to tide us over before ES6
Unreal Engine isn't efficient for open world games, so I question the reliability of this story.
Hopefully modders can fix the aged combart in this game if this is true. Enemies leveling up with you broke and defeated the whole purpose of leveling up.

Wolfenstein - First Popular FPS
Doom- Truly popularized FPS, created deathmatch
Quake- Further developed FPS multiplayer, multiplayer map design and modes
Golden Eye 007- Popularized genre on consoles, console local mp
Half-Life- Level design and story telling, birthed many mods, notabley counterstrike
Halo CE- Control scheme, level design, combat mechanics , console mp, sequel cemented console online mp
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare- Progression System in multiplayer, modern console mp (Has been copied too much in my opinion )
First two halos were really big for me back in the day. Killzone 2 was massively influential for me too.
