I could careless about Disney infinity, but I do love Lego dimensions. What makes them different is ANYONE can enter the world as long you have that figure for the dimension. Lego hit it out of the park with their idea in my opinion. Disney was dumb and would only let you bring certain characters into their world or chill in the toy box area. Me personally that's a huge difference.

TheCommentator2916d ago

It's funny to me that "toys to life" is even a thing, but Legos are the closest thing to real toys. Everything in our world is becoming increasingly digital. For example: people don't buy real books, don't buy CD's, don't buy DVD's, don't buy physical games like they used to. Why would it be a good thing for the consumer to have to buy every figure as a toy instead of earning them in game like it all used to be anyways? Hell, if you think about it they're not even toys in most cases but statues permanently affixed to a base you can't even really play with.

So instead of spending $60 on a game and earning all the characters, I now pay for the game, a portal, and every character I want to own at $10 to 15 a pop. Can you imagine if all you got was 3 characters in Street Fighter and all the additional characters were $15 a piece as dlc in a figure? The idea is just stupid but, sadly, most consumers are just mindless sheep these days.

Arrow22832915d ago

But to you it is just stupid and to me I don't feel that way, which I respect your opinion. I don't feel cheeped out with Lego as I did with Infinity at the time. They're not holding me back like infinity. Your 100% wrong about people not still buying DVD's, CD's or Books. Mass consumers still enjoy going to the store and buying physical items. Just because someone buys things they ENJOY doesn't say they are sheep. The thing is they are toys because when you are done, you can display them or play with them as Lego's. Not so much with infinity as they look like statues. The portal, game, and figures are bundled and if you ever played Lego, if you need a certain character for some things, you can use in game currency from what you collect to borrow that figure for 30 seconds which is plenty of time.

TheCommentator2915d ago

You misunderstand, no need to get upset! I said Legos were the closest thing to real toys because I know they come off their bases and could actually be used with Lego playsets. I also said that physical media was becoming increasingly digital, and while I still buy physical formats of everything personally, my kids don't. What irks me about the whole pretense of "toys to life" is that what should (and used to) be inclusive of a $60 game is all locked behind a DLC paywall made up of toys that cost a bunch of money. Could you imagine if Pokemon did this with it's 600 plus characters? It's a shady tactic to get parents to spend lots of money on their kids habit.

Arrow22832915d ago

I apologize, it's kinda hard to sense the tone just through text. lol Sorry about that.

MasterD9192916d ago

Score one for the parents who had to run out and find that one damn figure their kids were begging them for.

WickedLester2916d ago

When did the word "No" escape parent's vocabulary?

Since the 21st century.

Is Disney Infinity Coming To The PS5 & Xbox Series X?

There is a huge gap in the market at the moment. There aren’t many (if any) toys-to-life games available for the two consoles yet. A reboot or remake of the game would work so well, especially with Disney’s current roster of characters, films and TV shows.

Did Disney sell the rights to Activision? I never knew they had the rights to Disney Infinity.

They DO have the rights to Skylanders though.

Plus there's a financial reason every publisher gave up on the "toys to life" thing. So I doubt they'll revive any of them.

BrainSyphoned816d ago (Edited 816d ago )

It wasnt Skylanders fault Activision squeezed the cow too hard.

"During its earning calls, Activision confirmed that Skylanders: Swap Force had made them more money than Call of Duty: Ghosts. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed the numbers, putting Skylanders at a whopping $2 billion in revenue after it sold 175 million toys.May 7, 2014"

"Skylanders Reached the Milestone of 250 million figures sold in 2015 and passed $3 billion made"

Is it possible Disney Infinity or other toys to games could return, but I'll be honest I really hope they don't come back.

These kinds of games are just another way for the game studios to nickle and dime you for every cent you have.

BLAKHOODe816d ago

Disney Infinity was a fun game I could play with my kid back in the day. I still have it and the 100+ toys and yes, it works on PS5. But my kid is a teenager now and we've both moved on to more serious games.

Fluke_Skywalker816d ago

Exact same thing here, we played Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions. Both were great but are now just two big boxes full of stuff that never gets used.

BLAKHOODe816d ago

We played Lego Dimensions, too.. and I still have all those toys. It also works on PS5.
