Guitar Hero World Tour: Online Subscription Fee for PS3 and Wii Versions?

Activision press release reveals an online charge for the PS3 and Wii versions of Guitar Hero World Tour. What could this subscription fee relate to?

Granted, the articualtion of this statement is terrible, but through simple grammatical deduction: we can see that because of the "AND" between the words "Wii" and "may", that the statement about additional subs refers to the entire sentence.

It says only the PS3 and Wii versions are going to require a fee. That means that 360 users won't have to pay for a subscription.

If in fact it is a subscription to download unlimited songs then that would mean 360 users get unlimited free (save the Live Fee, which most of them pay anyway)songs to download. I just don't see that happening.

I think it's just Activision being douche bags. They might seriously be planning on charging for online play. I said this when The Activision/Blizzard merger took place. "EA Junior is Born."

However, i don't even think EA would go this far.

It wouldn't mean that XBL receives free music downloads, it just means they would have to pay separately like we all already do with current Rock Band and GH3 games. If this subscription were true, they better hope to make the fee the same prices as songs are now ($5 a week or $20 a month). I wanted to get GH over Rock Band 2, but now I feel like getting Rock Band 2 over GH -- that's only if this rumor is indeed true as of right now all we see is a, "could happen" statement.

That says to me that the 360 version WILL NOT have additional subscription fees but the other consoles will.

My point is it can't be a subscription fee to download unlimited songs like the OP speculated.

Do you read from this that only DrPeppers and Pepsi contain insane amounts of sugar and that Coca Cola is sugar free?

If yes you should visit some more reading courses.

If not you should read the article again to see that it is written exactly that way.

My post was not directed towards you specifically but everyone in general who believes there will be free downloads for XBL music and pay downloads for PS3/Wii. My point was that it doesn't work that way.

If you pay an XBL subscription fee you will still need to buy songs exactly the same way we do now. In this article it's speculated that we may need to pay a fee to play GHWT online -- but isn't defined, nor does it even say anything about music subscription.

Basically put, learn to read.

This may just be so that you won't have to pay the micro-fees for song packs(as mentioned above), no use getting up in arms already. However, if it is just a subscription fee on top of having to pay for song packs and stuff, I too shall send a photocopy of my ass to Activision. In fact, I can almost hear the masses rushing to preorder Rock Band 2 already.

I agree it is crap. And I'm not laughing at people who aren't big buyers of DLC, when I pick up Rock Band 2 I'm going to be using it more as some fun with friends when I have them over and stuff, rather than a big investment of time, so I won't be buying much DLC at all. Plus, the lack of PSN cards in most places(I'm a PS3 only owner atm, I don't have the money to get a 360 yet) means I don't buy much extra content for anything at the moment.

I'm sure that dig was directed at Wii.. Sadly it only shows how little you know though. NO system on the market right now has poor software sales. GH3 for Wii outsold all other versions of the game with a 6 week recall.Someone that uninformed when it comes to games really shouldnt bother commenting.

The game is much more funner when u have friends over and u battle it out with them since they are on the same level as u are. So I dont give a crap about the online for guitar hero. Im happy just playing it with family and friends.

It's clearly refering to every console, and the last part "and may require an additional subscription" is definitely toward the xbox 360 which of course charges 50 dollars a year for a gold account. Still not getting it, Rock Band 2 for me, and I'm renting it from gamefly to later keep it for 40 bucks.

That article proves again that the so called gaming "journalists" fail to read sentences with more than one comma or 5 words.

The statement clearly says that GHWT will only have online play on Xbox360,PS3 and Wii, (not on the DS version) and that online play might need an additional subscription from the price of the game, clearly referring to the subscription called xboxLive Gold, as neither the PS3 nor the Wii need a subscription to play online.
