J. Allen Brack, executive producer and Vice President for World of Warcraft, has finally given a statement in relation to the petition that recently passed 200,000 signatures.
According to Brack, Blizzard have been discussing the possibility of adding classic servers for years. The lengthy post includes: answers as to why Nostralrius couldn’t continue with their private server; the reason why Blizzard can’t just create a classic server; and the idea of a ‘pristine realm’, a realm where all the new features that World of Warcraft has gained over the years would be turned off.
A job listing published by the UK studio reveals that its next project will be another entirely new IP.
Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.
Outriders developer People Can Fly's next game has been canceled after its publishing agreement with Take-Two Interactive fell through.
"the capital group of PCF Group S.A."
If you're getting funding from a group that needs two different ways of Acronyming itself, things will not go the way you want them to.
Outriders was crap. They slapped that game together and threw in a loot system to get players' attention. This game was absolutely jank and the always online nonsense made it stutter like crazy. People Can't Optimize.
I liked Outriders but I could see where the artistic vision was compromised. The way the industry is now, it wouldn't surprise me that upper management would scrap something that didn't pull in money via gaas, mts, or other means.
The new Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition has the community in an outrage after promising exclusive access to the new PvE mode for $250 USD.
$250? Do they not know all the other games that already exist or will be made in the future that can do similar?
This is for the hardcore people that have 2500 h in the game. They basically play that one game the whole year.
Oh and those same people are mad as hell at this... what a way to reward fans of your game and annihilate newcomers.
Read a comment earlier calling it a "special monetization operation." I had to chuckle at that.
Finally. It was about time they said something. Blizzard needs to stop acting a fool and just back the nostalrius guys—as in just slapping on a blizzard approved label on them. They've been here for so long, and have a true love for the game. And obviously they were providing a service that blizzard was not, so, in a perfect world, blizzard would have just incorporated the servers into their ecosystem as the first classic server from which all others could bud around from. A wasted opportunity for blizzard, and they hurt a lot of people in the process.
The idea of a "pristine server" sounds pointless. You either implement Vanilla servers or you dont.
Personally i would like to see a proper TBC server. I always thought the barebones Vanilla experience was pretty horrible. The game only truly started to come into its own around TBC and hit its peak with WOTLK.
Why not do this. Wotlk was the peak. So why not roll the mechanics back to wotlk days. Or even BC. Take away the leveling assistance and the early mounts and the dungeon queues and all that stuff that was implemented to make it easier. Bring back old school talent trees that enabled players to have a certain character in their play style. and the grinding and the pvp tense environment. Make professions useful again and change the crappy daily reliance/ monotony of doing dailies . And if they want just add the story of Cata onwards minus the changes they made. Itll take some work yea. but its for the better.
