"Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Take Two Interactive were no where to be seen" pretty much sums it up.

Depressing. Hopefully they can show that their next platform is worth supporting.

They need better hardware.

It must be easy for development or we might be seeing the last Nintendo console announced at E3. They very much need to have those things addressed if the wish to even be relevant in gaming. I don't even think that puzzle game would have made the highlight reel at a MS or Sony press event, yet they were making it sound as if they had the second coming. Something to worry about, but I'll wait til NX is announced before feeling da glooms.

gamingden2934d ago

I totally agree with you: the showcase reel is normally a part of the Nintendo Direct (and usually the most boring part) by putting it in a video alone, it was just depressing. Like honestly, why bother advertising "Super Meat Boy", as if the 2010 game based on a 2008 flash game would really drive console sales?

_-EDMIX-_2934d ago

Not only that, but it makes it worrying that this is even news to them or even a big deal to them. Is this what they consider news worthy?

I hope they get their act together soon or they might need to start considering going 3rd party and just giving the whole console thing a rest. I would love to see them go handheld only and give that full support too. If they wish to sell lots of software, they must have a huge install base and I just don't see them doing that if they don't get their hardware in check along with its development infrastructure. I don't see major publishers even showing up for NX's launch if those issues are not resolved.

leahcim2933d ago

Maybe not a console seller game, but you have to considere that a great number of nintendo fan have no love for other consoles then Super Meat Boy is an entire new game for them (and is a really good an addictive game). Nevertheless I agree the video was almost pathetic, sad for nintendo.

NX needs to be more powerfull than ps4 and Xbone!

This article and comment section is embarrasing

TheRealKingAvery2933d ago

This is in fact true and really sad to see. Its very underwhelming and usually 3rd parties and indies would have seperate reels but the fact that support is so low that they have to group them together and still came up with at the most a modest list of games to show is well.............. just plain sad. Hopefully they have learned their lesson from these past 2 generations and will have strong 3rd part support for the NX although to be honest have heard much in regards to third party support for the upcoming console.

gamerb62933d ago

This article is embarrassing, the Nintendo haters are running out of time so they are trying to squeeze every last drop of hate out on the wii U before the NX comes out and dominates, leaving the salty haters to eat their words.
It's been rumoured by numerous sources that the NX is being made so that its easy for third parties to make games and port games on it.

The author doesn't know what he's talking about..
The clock is ticking, roll on e3, Nintendo trolls be prepared to get back under your bridges.

Agreed.
So what if Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Take Two Interactive weren't present?
Being surprised that they weren't on it at this point, is just asinine and stupid, given how their "best efforts" amounted to one or two small new titles drowned by a whole bunch of old/content-parity-deficient ports that nobody asked for.
None of them have done SH*T to help Nintendo get ahead in sales, and haven't been a key factor in ANY sort of console sales success for Nintendo since the Gamecube era, if not earlier.
Expecting those three to suddenly turn around and do something right for Nintendo, by making compelling games for the Wii U or 3DS this late into their life cycles, is a hopeless pursuit, and it makes harping on their lack of presence at this late stage utterly pointless.

The games being shown in that video were, on the whole, a bunch of really fun and unique games that Wii U and 3DS owners will most certainly enjoy.

This article is hate bait and hypocritically embarrassing in the extreme.
A truly low-brow opinion.

Which is ironic, given that it's coming from a site called "low brow gamer".

Nintendo Is A Bad Company, But We Can't Help Loving Them Anyway

TG: “Most of us also grew up with Nintendo, likely forming a nostalgic connection with games that have long been crowned as our personal favourites. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was an experience that shaped my view on open world fantasy, and Super Mario 64 changed my life like it did for millions of others. These titles have earned their place in history, and remain loved to this day for so many worthwhile reasons. We replay them and beg for remasters all while delving into their worlds time and time again because they mean that much to us. It’s a shame then that the company behind them often kicks its own sweet darlings to the curb.”

I never got the love for Nintendo games personally. The annoying vocalizations and ugly character designs do nothing for me.

Another very weird article.

Nintendo is a great company by almost all possible normal measures. The biggest one being: their own staff is happy, and they seem to be very happy, well compensated and retain rate is solid. They are also financially very stable, profitable, and cash rich, so shareholders love them.

Overall it is an extremely creative group of people, and their mission statement is fantastic as well "to put smiles on the faces of everyone we touch. We do so by creating new surprises for people across the world to enjoy together." The social impact is also massive, not to speak culturally. Additionally, they have a really strong core business, high customer retention rate and loyalty. Nintendo's reputation is extremely good, I think in the US alone they are 9th most reputable company, their customer service is better than the average company. Plus, the press gives them a pass, because they are Nintendo. But there's a reason why they do that, it's not "because they are Nintendo", there are more layers to the argument.

Then, then there's the random negative gamers online...and their "reputation" which is inside their heads. And their western ideas of how a Japanese company should behave or what they should do. But they have no right to ask a company to do anything for them, because they can vote with their wallets.

There's a small vocal community online who dislikes Nintendo for what they are, but then again, there's always a small vocal community that dislikes something.

Nintendo also disagrees with the Western world about IP, but most people call Westerners "hidoi!" when they emulate Tears of the Kingdom and do not experience it the way Nintendo wanted them (even if it is not the best visual way), because it is a matter of principle to them (Japanese are very much against anything close to plagiarism, and there are laws that are tight about creative works copying etc.)

The Western Braveheart "freedoom!" shouters need to understand that it is not an American company, nor they need to behave like one. They can have their own fights based on their principles (against emulation). And they very well may lose the battle with that and change, or find a new audience.

In the end, it is so very simple. Don't buy the products if you don't like a company, but there's no need to paint a picture that is unrealistic about Nintendo either.

MadLad337d ago

I hate virtually everything about their business practices, actually. Suing everybody for virtually anything, shooting down fan projects, games they never let devalue, their online infrastructure and how they handle BC.

They're lucky they make great games, because that's the only thing I feel they do right.

gold_drake337d ago

my issue with them, is the complete refusal to have decent tech for us.

and their odd censorship and lawsuits for modders.
