Work on Driveclub Developers’ New Multiplatform Game Will Start at The End of The Month

If you’re eager to hear what the team that created Driveclub is working on, after moving under Codemasters’ umbrella following Evolution Studios’ closure by Sony Interactive Entertainment, you’re going to have to wait a while, as mentioned on Twitter by Paul Rustchynsky.

Would be cool to see a spiritual successor to Motorstorm. Codemasters makes enough realistic racing games like Dirt, Grid and F1. Arcade game would give the publisher some diversity in the racing genre.

Aeery2948d ago

I'm very happy they are already at work.
Their games are absolutely amazing.

Good luck!

DARKKENT2947d ago (Edited 2947d ago )

The most stupidest move from sony

Always one step forward two steps back with sony

Zipper and evolution these decisions baffle my head

If sony doesn't own the motor storm ip evolution should make a multiplatform motor storm or if they do make an extremely similar game just to piss of sony

Any sony fanboy who agrees with sony letting evolution go needs their head checked

Knushwood Butt2947d ago (Edited 2947d ago )

@ darkkent

At face value, I agree, but

We don't know what Evolution had pitched for the future, and we know a new Gran Turismo is in the works, so maybe there was a clash. Sony don't need two first party studios tied up doing similar projects.

DARKKENT2947d ago

@knushwood

Evolution are primarily arcade specialists

Grain turismo is and will always be realistic

So both development parties bring something different to the table

freshslicepizza2947d ago

these people are still employed and best of all more people will have easier access to play their games. that is what gamers should care most of, the health of the industry. not having a company buy ip's that sit and do nothing and keep games hostage by forcing people to buy specific hardware.

As a ps3 owner last gen but now on xb1, I'd really like a motostorm style game too, it was a lot of fun, I think lots of xb1 owners would be happy with that.

MagicBeanz2947d ago

Sounds like you made a bad choice this gen.

holysmokesbatman2947d ago

@MagicBeanz THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN DUDE BUT i'M QUITE HAPPY.

TwoForce2947d ago (Edited 2947d ago )

@DARKKENT I agree on that one. But it kinda weird is that Evo didn't feel piss off sbout it. They just seem happy about it, don't you think ?

DARKKENT2947d ago (Edited 2947d ago )

How do you know they aren't pissed off?

Them starting work on a new game soo soon shows me that they are biting at the bit to show sony what a mistake they have made and that just throwing them away like discarded rubbish will only push evolution studios to not only keep going but to put the best content out.

I've never seen a developer continue to improve a game soo long after release like they have done with driveclub.

Sony are a bunch of idiots

TwoForce2947d ago

@DARKKENT Of course, we pissed about it. But here the thing, Evo knew this was coming.

LordMaim2947d ago

@Darkkent: What do you mean by "so soon"? What else would they be doing as a developer other than working on a game?

Gol3m2947d ago

@darkkent it's not going to matter as anything they make will perform better on Sonys console in a multiplatform situation. Sorry truth hurts

I'm happy the team is wasting no time/getting back to doing what they enjoy which is creating racers.

TwoForce2947d ago

It's good to hear is that EVO still keep making racing game. DriveClub is still my favorite game, In my heart, Evo is still with us, my friend.

Gazondaily2947d ago

That was quick. Hopefully they take their time with the next racer.

Which one of Codemasters IPs do you see them working on?

Liqu1d2947d ago

GRID. It seems like the best fit for them.

To Sony, and so many other companies in this industry, the short-term satisfaction and happiness of their shareholders means so much more to them than their employees, their products, and their customers.

Yi-Long76d ago

Apologies, don't know how the above comment ended up here while it clearly should have gone to other article about the Sony lay-offs. Please delete.
