Now that is another Chuck Norris Approved Move by Sony.

"Sic Parvis Magna" or "Greatness From Small Beginnings".

The shooter masterpiece Astebreed was made just by two people.
Just like how Naughty Dog started with Rubin and Gavin.

RAM0N 2975d ago

I dont see nothing wrong with that, bring it on

Team_Litt2975d ago

Thinking ahead for ps+ 2017 and beyond. Very prudent of them.

FlexLuger2975d ago

I was thinking the same thing. more "great and innovative" innovative 2D platformer indies that nobody is gonna be buying, but luckily sony will save peeps tthe hassle of forking up money and give em away for free. this one is #4ThePlayers.

Aenea2975d ago

*shakes head*

Why would you say these things in a Sony article when everyone knows you and Litt are Xbox fans?

What's the point? What do you hope to achieve?

Majin-vegeta2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

@Aenea this is tbe result of when youve barely had one exclusive releases so far this year and will be starving for another few months till another decent exclusive game comes out.... So much free time to troll.

FlexLuger2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

@Aenea

"What's the point?"

A bit rich considering how many PS fanboys spam Xbox threads with their trash....Im hardly in PS articles so, what of it, bud?..pretty sure you are one of them...dont like it when the shoe is on the other foot, eh?

"What do you hope to achieve?"

LOL...I dont associate "Achieve" with gaming forums. Im just saying my piece like everybody else...

Majin-vegeta

"@Aenea this is tbe result of when youve barely had one exclusive releases so far"

I dont put as much stock in these things as you guys so your comment fails.Also..I also have a Ps4, so the joke is you AGAIN.

"this year and will be starving for another few months till another decent exclusive game comes out.... So much free time to troll."

well...Im in jamaica as of next month and begin my bout of island hopping for the summer. I wont have time to play video games..Not sure why you would brag about staying indoors all summer, playing your "exclusives" like you have it better than the guy who is gonna be jet skiing and partying hard at carribean carnivals...

Grow up dude. Your post was cringe!

Liqu1d2975d ago

You're trying too hard.

Aenea2975d ago

Crap, you're making me jealous with your vacation plans! Have fun there!

Anyways, yes, I frequent Xbox articles too, I'm a gamer, I'm interested in all games on all platforms. And yes, I post in them too, tho I don't think I've been saying negative stuff for the heck of it. I tend to reply to fanboys of either side when they are saying nonsensical or false things, heck I believe some people even called me an Xbox fanboy a couple of times because I told PS fanboys they were wrong. Sigh...

And if I do say something negative, am sure that I did somewhere once or twice it's usually purely in jest with adding smileys and *ducks* and stuff.

It's just the whole fanboy stuff that I hate, on either side and if you say something that doesn't agree with many of them than you're trolling for the other side, it's silly at times.

Your comment is off-topic, you are trying to say something negative about Sony and the amount of Indie games on the PS4 and about the quality of the PS+ offerings. You know how it will come across and yet you still do it, that is what I don't get. Sure you can think "who cares, don't like those games anyways", you could even post that, but what you did post drips of anti-PlayStation sentiment...

Now thats pretty good.

DragonDDark2975d ago

Good for indie developers. And people wonder why Sony has so many developers joining them.

This is precisely why discless consoles are a terrible idea. I made my money back on my disc based ps5 within the first two months when comparing the cost on the PS Store to what I paid for my physical disc versions. The last game I bought was Armoured Core 6 for £43.85 on ShopTo, still costs £59.99 on PS Store. Those savings soon add up.

Sony States We Will Know More About the "Long-Term Vision" of PlayStation Later This Month

Sony has confirmed that there is something happening later this month and it involves SIE which is the division that operates PlayStation.

Skuletor13d ago

My guess, is they were waiting for the new CEO position to be finalized before their next showcase and now that's out of the way.

neutralgamer199213d ago

Yes I think you are right. They wanted the leadership in place hopefully now they can give a strong showing of what’s to come

S2Killinit13d ago

Its not confirmed that this will involve game announcements.

Cacabunga13d ago

Tbh this claim doesn’t reassure me at all..

Eonjay12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

@S2Killinit

If this is about games that worries me because I thought they were walking away from announcing titles far in advance. For them to say 'Long Term Vision' sounds like we are getting announcements years in advance. I don't want that. Lets hope the long term vision part refers to their goal for the company and that they also give us info on projects reaching fruition in the short term.

Also, this is gonna be where we find out that they are going full PC day and date (or greatly reduced if they don't have the capacity at their studios). Its gonna happen. Why? Because all you have to do is look at Helldivers... fastest selling PlayStation game ever. And they make good games. They will sell.
Now we can fight over whether this will hurt the console space. I don't think so as long as they provide an option that will allow people to come close to maxing out their graphics... ergo the PRO.

StormSnooper12d ago

@Eonjoy
I think MS already made that decision for ALL consoles when they went full PC. There is no way other consoles can stay away from PC when their competitor decides to treat PC and Xbox the same. If eventually Sony and possibly even Ninty don’t go PC, they would be handing an advantage to MS. Unfortunately

Sounds good, PS5 Pro preorders. Let’s do this!

Crows9013d ago

I don't get it....we barely got any ps5 exclusives and people already want a refresh??

crazyCoconuts13d ago

When they show GTA6 on the Pro I think you'll get it

VersusDMC13d ago

Pretty sure we got 5 console exclusives this year so far and 3rd party games took advantage of the PS4pro last gen so it will happen with the PS5pro as well.

romulus2313d ago

I don't get it either but people get new iphones the second they come out even though they just bought the previous one which works just fine. Some people just want the latest and greatest no matter what and have the income to do it. If the improvement to games is significant enough I may get one but probably not at launch.

-Foxtrot13d ago

Exactly

I will always be behind the idea that one of the reasons why this gen doesn't feel as much of a leap is because we kind of got spoilt with the PS4 Pro last gen. It was like a teaser to this gen.

Looking back on a technological leap after 7 years is way more impressive than if it was 3 or so.

Crows9012d ago

@versus

You're making this out to be something it isn't. I think it's stupid that sony themselves have barely put out any exclusives that can only run on the ps5 and we already have calls for a "pro" version...that is mindblowingly dumb in my opinion

Einhander197212d ago (Edited 12d ago )

People come up with the silliest reasons to claim the console isn't needed, exclusives made by Sony don't matter, third party games are like 500 to 1 even in the best year.

And since PS1 PlayStation has relied on third party publishing deals, the vast vast majority of games that people see as PlayStation games were made by third party developers published by Sony, Insomniac only recently became a PlayStation studio all their games made before that were as a third party.

PS5 Pro is the same as a graphics card upgrade that no one ever complains about like this, and it's way cheaper performance per dollar than a CPU.

Doubt you're getting a pro annoucement in a business update

InUrFoxHole12d ago

Hard pass. They haven't even made the most out of the base ps5

anast13d ago

Big things right around the corner.

purple10113d ago

Almost optimistic to say, but those leaks of the 6 cancelled games (games that were not even announced)

yeh, maybe some didn't actually get cancelled after all

notachance13d ago

as a long time ps fans I hope they still put great single player games front and center, make your live service games if you have to but don’t force your 1st party studios to make something they don’t want to.. redfall is an unfortunate example of a good studio forced to basically destroy themselves.

Eonjay12d ago

Good points. How would you feel if Sony decided to put their single player games on PC day and date? This would allow their studios making single player games to recoup more money to keep the games coming. If it works with GaaS why not single player?

notachance12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

If they do that, it’s just a matter of time before someone make a console using PC as a platform, then that console would automatically have the full PC games (which means combined PS, PC, and Xbox games) as a library.

In fact, who’s to say steam aren’t working at it right now lol, just imagine it, something with the ease of use of console that can play both ps and xbox games day 1.. combined with the marketbase of steam, there’s the new king of console.

Or better yet, Nintendo would do it and there will finally be one console that can play it all..

Ps: on the topic of games releasing day and date, you could argue that by delaying PC release date there will be a few people who double dipped on buying games, just like what good ol rockstar loved doing with their games..

fr0sty12d ago

PC PS5 ports lack certain features, like the 3D audio and controller haptic support...so there will always be reasons to play PS5 games on a PS5.

Hopefully lesser focus on live service games

KyRo55d ago

Hopefully just more of a focus on games in general. 4 years in I'm still waiting for something to wow me like Ratchet and Clank and Returnal.

Cacabunga55d ago

PlayStation will make or kill itself with gaas games.. we need the PlayStation from previous gens. It’s ok with gaas once in a while, just not change your whole vision and turn back to fans who made this brand what it is today..

bloop55d ago

More games would be great. This gen has been really disappointing so far. Great games have been too few and far between. And time to drop cross gen development for good.

Crows9055d ago

Wow...returnal...what a fantastic game. Demons souls was huge for me as I never got around to beating it the first time around.

-Foxtrot55d ago

Yeah hopefully

They have Helldivers for that, just focus on supporting that game as much as they can. Why oversaturate a market even more when you've just caught lightning in a bottle with a game already.

No point making more than one as it will just divide attention and player bases.

LucasRuinedChildhood55d ago (Edited 55d ago )

In the short term, I suppose we won't see any change.

I think they need to invest heavily in 2nd party games - we're seeing that a bit this year.

They can take more risks on those games (more unique) because they're not $200m+ and they can more quickly get out a variety of exclusives.

Helldivers shows how well that can pay off and probably Stellar Blade will as well. Returnal did too (Sony didn't own them).

Insomniac was in the top 3 best "PlayStation" studios decades before Sony ever owned them.

And if you think back on a year like 2015, none of the big exclusives were from first party studios (Until Dawn, Bloodborne, The Order 1886). Nobody saw that as a problem back then. We were happy.

People (even PS fans themselves) started acting like second party games are not "real" exclusives ever since Microsoft started buying up publishers and studios. People need to get over that. Buying up everything so people can chant "First party" and have list wars is not necessary or good for the industry. It's part of the reason Xbox have been forced to go multiplatform by Microsoft so that approach backfired.

If Sony's huge games are all going to take 5+ years to make, I think they need as many if not more second party games as they used to have.

Einhander197255d ago

Helldivers 2 most successful live service launch of the year....

PlayStation doesn't make bad games, whatever they make live service or single player will be made to the highest standards.

_Decadent_Descent55d ago

Live service I agree with, but I would hope that doesn't mean less focus on MP games in general.

Lightning7755d ago (Edited 55d ago )

I dunno about about that. I think he's sticking to that regime and seeing it all the way through. The same way Ryan stuck with Shawn Laydens plans and regime. Backtracking now would cause tremendous stress on developers and developmental pipelines.

Skuletor51d ago

With the focus on live service games, I'm surprised The Last of Us II: Grounded or whatever and that Multiplayer Spider-Man got cancelled. I've read what Naughty Dog's excuse was but if Sony were truly focused on live service games, they could have hired more people, so ND could work on more than just the MP game

A bit worried.

As long as it's truly short term... Maybe it's fine...? But a CFO taking the reins is likely how creative passion goes to die.

Chocoburger55d ago

He needs to bring back Japan Studios and re-hire all that incredible talent that they lost. PlayStation needs to focus more on what made them incredible from PS1 to PS3 eras.

Einhander197255d ago

This is misinformation Asobi was a team at Japan Studio, all that really happened is a name change of the studi.

Before the change even happened a few people (I think it was only 3-5 people) said they wanted to leave the studio to form an indie development studio "Bokeh Game Studio" which they did, and Bokeh is still making games for PlayStation just independently.

So at that time Sony changed the name from Japan Studio to Asobi, everyone from the staff except for a few people who left to form Bokeh stayed on under Asobi. Sony themselves called it a reorganization, which is accurate.

Chocoburger55d ago

Hmm, I guess its not as bad as it sounded, then? I'll read that wikipedia article to get all the details.

Aphrodia55d ago

I wonder if Playstation will ever be like it was from ps1-ps3 ever again. Explorative. Ps4 is when they became more iterative than innovative. PS5 continues the iterative trend. Unless they have something hiding away then the Ps5 generation will remain iterative. With GTA 6 coming relatively soon the whole world is waiting to see what comes of that than anything else. Unfortunately it seems like we'll have to wait for ps6 just to see if sony will do anything new, innovative, and daring. So far the PS5 remains the only Playstation console I've never owned.

Chocoburger54d ago

As dev time increases, budgets ballooning out of control, and advertising costs trying to get the general public to know your game exists in an over crowded market, publishers don't want to take risks anymore.

I understand why companies have changed, but due to their changes in priorities, my focus has been on older generations these days.

Travesty55d ago

Okie dokie Hiroki Totoki. Get someone in there that loves the brand and listens to gamers. I kind of miss that reaction in the past.
