It's going to win this year's GOTY hands down. Now it doesn't even have the competition of Mass Effect Andromeda

slate912971d ago

Mass effect has been delayed into 2017 I believe.

mikeslemonade2971d ago

Zelda wins over Uncharted. Now if this was TLoU2 it would win easily!

Deadpooled2970d ago

Lmao at the well deserved disagrees on mikelemonade.

On topic - Brace yourselves, this is going to be epic. For the players!!!!

GribbleGrunger2971d ago

Here's some details that were leaked early. Sorry for the bad translation:

thanks to the greater openness of the environment and the resulting different possibilities of approach. the landscape offers numerous strategies to face the enemy, accerchiandolo, sticking his head down or quietly, with stealth killings calibrated to the millimeter. the innovations introduced here thus refer the detection-system AI enemy and Nate's ability to act through stealth movements, favored by the natural shape of the location. the battle can be divided into two simple stages: the first consists in the approach to the target, with the possibility of mark the enemies from a distance, by pushing the buttons L2 and L3; mechanical performance rather trivial in the application because of a too wide range that allows the player to activate profusely markers on enemies are not in visual range.

The second, however, is the classic phase of engagement, already present in other earlier chapters, in which the user can decide how to proceed in the clash: the level design of Uncharted 4: End of a Thief in fact allows all types d ' action, emphasizing stealth attack in favor of a boarding without rules. Naughty Dog has provided in this chapter carto the slaughter of unsuspecting enemies of the presence of Drake and, in the vicinity of some contextual areas - such as evergreen shrubs borrowed from a long line of previous games, the body can be automatically hidden from view.

Often the latter technique is necessary to eliminate the large number of soldiers present: their projectiles causing high damage to Nathan and throw himself openly in the battle is only recommended for experienced players. This constant urge towards a silent approach has led the Californian software house to design a detection system consisting of the three states "ignorant", "alarm" and "fighter", each determined by a specific color and by a device placed over the roar opponent's head. The system is surprisingly responsive and the look of the sentries is natural and well designed, without encountering thus casus belli generated by X-rays of a friendly guard armed named Clark Kent. Last but not least it is inevitable to mention the grappling hook, already known after the introduction trailer released in the previous months; it can be used not only to solve puzzles related to the environment but also in battle, to rappel from above on unsuspecting enemies or to move quickly on the pitch.

GribbleGrunger2971d ago

A little more:

Never before in this chapter are the fatal events to lead our to make the difficult decision to leave for distant lands is not the promise of a millionaire treasure, nor the fame and glory; but a dramatic situation that can overturn the cards on the table.

The desert environments with strong colors red blood that stand before the players are in fact fully explorable and at first glance seem to propose different approaches to the mission: in fact the suspension of disbelief does not have such a long life, the locations are built so that they can recreate the feeling a huge open space despite the existence of a single junction and only need the continuation of the story.

The immense landscapes stand out on the retina of the player, featuring a broad and rich in minute details; details that only a few software companies in the world are able to carve and donate to their productions.

Uncharted 4: End of a thief managed to dispel almost all of the (very few) doubts that tormented me before the single-player test, carried out last Friday behind closed doors in that of Milan. The game seems to granite in every aspect: the story of this new chapter starts from a premise more mature than previous episodes - without neglecting the typical humor of the series - while the already solid gameplay has been touched up with some interesting additions and supported by a level design that allows a variety of different approaches. The only question appears on the narrative front: Naughty Dog will be able to reconcile the lockout and masterful storytelling of previous episodes with the new (albeit apparent) freedom of action typical of this fourth chapter? There are only a few weeks to find out, but on May 10 has never been so far away.

Aloy-Boyfriend2971d ago

Uncharted vone bigger, badde, and better

Jesus man this is gonna be awesome

GribbleGrunger2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

Someone disagreeing with a translation? LOL.

Alexious2971d ago

The stealth part is very promising. Glad they have taken this from The Last of Us, it was never that great in the first three Uncharted games.

Bathyj2971d ago

@Alexious
Actually you could already see an improvement in the stealth in UC3 and when TLoU was announced I wasnt even surprised in the direction as it seemed like a continuation of that.

I'm very excited that you can tackle a section the way you want to do it. Thats how it should be. I'll be going stealth whenever I can. This game looks better than ever.

jb2272971d ago

Thanks Grib!

The marking enemies thing is the craziest part. I trust that ND would streamline the systems to keep the pace up considering the devs have been saying exactly that in the dev diaries, but the emphasis on stealth sounds like a more methodical approach. Really pumped to see how it all plays out, game is getting deeper & deeper w/ systems...first new traversal mechanics like the rope & piton, then dialogue options, now a deep stealth system...they still haven't showed off the treasure hunting threads though, I'm most pumped about that and the Lemur.

The Lemur is the new Giraffe.

starchild2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

The improved stealth mechanics really sound great. I'm a big stealth fan--from Tenchu to Thief to Splinter Cell--I just love those kinds of games. And I love that more action games are starting to give us the options to handle things in that manner.

I'm looking forward to the embargo being over in order to find out more about the game and to hopefully see more footage/screenshots. Uncharted 4 is the PS4 game I've been most looking forward to and I'm excited it's almost here.

rainslacker2971d ago

I think I'll enjoy stealth more than trying to glitch through walls.:)

Kryptix2971d ago

The stealth mechanics should make Crushing and higher difficulties (Brutal?) very interesting and tactical, like an always changing puzzle. I'm really glad they added so many new elements to the gameplay and atmosphere, man. Last of Us did so amazing with the survival, stealth aspect that Uncharted 4's evolution of the formula will attract every sort of gamer, but it's Naughty Dog...you never should miss out on a Naughty Dog game.

Imalwaysright2971d ago

Stealth is my thing. That'll make me enjoy this Uncharted much more than previous installments.

If The Legend of Zelda doesn't come out this year, Uncharted 4 has a great chance getting GOTY.

CrazedFiend2971d ago

IF The Legend of Zelda doesn't come out this year?!?

Seriously though I'm curious to see which sites are going to try to hate for hits in their reviews.

showtimefolks2971d ago

kaiserfranz

honestly the only other game i could maybe see winning is Horizon zero down(if it actually does come out in 2016)

uncharted 4 will win any and all awards i think

butchertroll2971d ago

Best graphics to date on consoles, that's for sure.

MasterCornholio2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

Please don't overhype the game. I would hate to see the reaction if it got anything less than stellar reviews.

That's why I'm predicting a minimum metacritic of 7.

Bathyj2971d ago

A 7 on metacritic would be an abomination of games journalism. While I am wary of overhyping too, mainly because it will unearth a slew of websites marking the game down to prove how impervious they are to hype, everything we've seen in this game screams absolute top shelf. The gameplay, the graphics, the strategic options, the emotion, pacing. Everything.

The only way this game can possible fail is if the story is unfulfilling or the ending sucks. Or if the multiplayer isn't what everyone wants, which lets face it, everyone ALWAYS complains about ALL multiplayer games. You never make everyone happy but that's irrelevant to me.I can't see this game having any faults so bad to drown out all the things it does so peerlessly.

And this is Naughty Dog after all, the most proven dev of the last decade. This game won't average less than 8.

KwietStorm_BLM2970d ago

That would be a pretty low point for a series of such acclamation to go out on.

slasaru012971d ago

I see it has very good lightning. All the rest comes straight from PS3 - low poly environments, bad skin (i'm not talking about movies where). Still, I have no doubts the gameplay will be king and awesome.

But the game itself does not look better than other games and I don't see open world here unless you mean panoramic screenshots made from bird's view, the game itself still running through a narrow wooden scaffolds

G20WLY2971d ago

There are multiple routes through levels, how is that 'running through a narrow wooden scaffolds'? In fact, I'm not even sure that makes sense lol

It's not open world, we've known that since launch - no, since the first Uncharted actually. This is definitely the least 'linear' of the series.

What adventure games don't set you a goal to get from point A to point B? How wide does it have to be before you'd consider it not narrow?

For the record, I also disagree with you when you say the graphics outside of lighting is on par with PS3. That's absurd. Go and watch ANY tech breakdown video and they're all praising the heck out of the tech and saying it's a step up overall even than The Order: 1886.

Not that any of the above points (whether your view or mine) is going to stop everyone from enjoying this game (and it's MP) something mental when it releases! :^)

kevnb2971d ago

Win goty from who? We all know uncharted will probably win goty from at least some places, but what does that comment mean?

gillri2971d ago

Now Mass Effect Andromeda has been delayed I agree, it eould have been a good fight between those 2 otherwise

Saijahn2971d ago

there's still GOTY hype-worthy games coming down the line, mainly Deus Ex.

KwietStorm_BLM2970d ago

Nothing is goty hands down this year. The calendar is packed. And who cares? Uncharted 4 will be a great game with many more great games. I'll never understand how a game winning some award validates someone's enjoyment with it.

Looks incredible. Everything they've showed is outstanding. Just need to drag myself away from DSIII to play it.

LavaLampGoo2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

(When they come out of course)

Alexious2971d ago

Well, you have about a month to play DS3 to your heart's content!

uth112971d ago

Bloodborrne was much more fun than anything in the Nathan Drake collection, so I doubt UC4 could drag me way from DSIII

CrazedFiend2971d ago

U forgot to add IMO to your comment.

Majin-vegeta2971d ago

Gawwd cant wait.

Guys be careful with leaks You know we will be having trolls just commenting spoilers Like someone did to me hopefully its not true.

Alexious2971d ago

You mean someone told you about the plot of Uncharted 4? Unless it was someone with friends/family at Naughty Dog, I doubt there was any truth to it. You can rest easy, mate.

Chris_Wray2971d ago

Well, it looks pretty. But it will, it's Uncharted. Will it be yet another game that's just a bit too shallow though? more than likely. Uncharted, to me, is just a simple popcorn game. One you go into, turn your brain off and watch the shiny lights!

Overload2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

Naughty Dog's last game didn't win so many awards for being pretty but shallow.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/...

You might be confusing Uncharted and Naughty Dog with something else.

DarXyde2971d ago

I looked through that list and noticed The Last of Us was nominated once by Polygon and ended up not winning. In fact, that year, it tied with Bioshock Infinite and lost to Towerfall, A Link Between Worlds, and Gone Home...really?

Moving past that, these screenshots look great. What's more, the environments are shockingly colorful. Usually when a game looks to be really pushing hardware, the colors get a little...monochromatic. To me, it says the best has yet to come.

Chris_Wray2970d ago

Yes, but The Last of Us isn't Uncharted. Uncharted follows the story of Nathan Drake and unless this outing dramatically varies from the previous three (not including the non-Naughty Dog spinoffs) then it's still going to be a shallow game where the large-action set pieces are decided before the script. Something ND have openly admitted they do in the past.

OB1Biker2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

Ha I dont know that Uncharted games are...what you said?
I wish more games were like that... cant wait ;)

Eonjay2971d ago

Taking a look at the story trailers for Uncharted 4 reveals a plot that is anything but shallow.

Aloy-Boyfriend2971d ago

Shallow because it doesn't have RPG mechanics or what? Uncharted does it's job well and need nothing else other than go bigger and improve further.

But yeah let's believe this series are just graphics... Not the first time I've heard the same unoriginal comment

jb2272971d ago

Open environments, drivable vehicles, multiple pathways, marking enemies, deep treasure hunting system, full stealth scenarios, dialogue options.....

This ain't your daddy's Uncharted....all of the fun of a popcorn summer blockbuster w/ all of the substance of deeper games.

Either way even if all of those new mechanics don't amount to much, there aren't any devs in the industry that do "pretty lights" as well as ND, and none I trust to weave all of these elements into a cohesive gameplay experience while still keeping up the pace that you expect from a pulse pounding thrill ride.

Bugs me when people try to under sell the complexity of a game like Uncharted. Takes a lot of talent to make these systems feel so effortless.

Germany72971d ago

Shallow just because of the great action sequences, cutscenes and a lot of shooting? I guess every action game is "shallow" then.

Chris_Wray2970d ago

Shallow because they've openly admitted that they decide on the large-action set pieces first, and worry about what holds them together after that.

rainslacker2971d ago (Edited 2971d ago )

Yeah, I see your point. Naughty Dog games have a habit of being all flash but no substance. /s

I think your issue with UC may be due to the fact that you were eating popcorn, thus not likely playing it the way it was intended.

WelkinCole2971d ago

The voice acting, script and animation in Uncharted is better than all other games with the only exception being TLOU.

Bruneblomst2971d ago

Har du inhaleret en prut lugte Finn;)

Deadpooled2970d ago
