Does anyone know how much the Rift Touch controller will cost?

Vhampir2975d ago

No info about Oculus Touch price yet. I'm betting it will bring the price very close to Vive's.
PSVR is $499 and Vive is $799, so I think $199 for the Oculus Touch will be reasonable considering it has finger sensors and all the other bells and whistles.

I think I'll go with Vive myself, but I'm waiting till after rift and vive have launched.

Tsunade2975d ago

You have incomplete information there. Don't know your reasons for omitting oficial and well known information

PSVR core bundle is $399 and PSVR worlds bundle is $499.

Eonjay2975d ago

@Tsunade

He makes a good point though because the complete kit for PS4 retails for $499 and the complete Vive kit is $799. What will a complete Rift kit cost with the Touch controllers included? The Rift may actually wind up costing more than the Vive.

ShadowKnight2975d ago

Most PS4 fans has the camera already. So more likely they will buy the core bundle.

UltraNova2975d ago

@Shodow

I don't own a camera or Move. I think not even half of ps4 owners(maybe 1/3)have the camera and even less have the Move. That's why Sony offered the HMD only first and then announced a complete bundle. It wouldn't be fair to force a more expensive bundle to those who already have those accessories.

bouzebbal2975d ago

People are right to be excited.
I am excited for the cinematic mode, but at the same time i remember what everyone was saying about the Vita before it came out as being the handheld winner blablabla....
Let's see what happens with PSVR, i hope it gets more support over the coming years, not only 6 months post release and then shift the message as PSVR being interactive TV for PS4 only.

freshslicepizza2975d ago

the wii also won the motion control war too but i'm not sure most would agree that's a good thing or not.

psvr will be the most mainstream which means it will likely catch on more than the others this generation.

Vhampir2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

@Moldy

Hey, don't forget kinect's success either. Must be the best accessory ever, right?
http://www.guinnessworldrec...

@Tsunade
Why do I need to list "oficial and well known information"? Especially when I was obviously referring to complete packages. I didn't mention Oculus Rift's "core" is $599 either, but you didn't take issue with that though.

kws10652975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

499 includes 2 MOVEs. But as you know, DS4 is a tracking device, everyone already has. Plus, SONY decides not to require MOVE for every single VR games. Therefore you should not include 2MOVEs for the PSVR set, but just a camera (450?).

Incomplete set for a VR environment without MOVE? Maybe. But I dont feel like swinging MOVEs more than an hour. I would be very exhausted. I am good enough with PSVR and DS4.

Goldby2975d ago

@KWS

Just because people already own a camera or because every game can use the DS4 doesnt mean the shouldnt sell the Launch bundle. Afterall Playstation is the best place to play on console, they want to give us the OPPORTUNITY to play PSVR thr best way possible. They will release packages for the core HMD only. If you dont like the price of the Launch Bundle. Wait for the core. But to bitch about sony releasing a bundle to make sure if you dont have the controllers and camera you can still enjoy psvr is insane.

I'm guessing between 60 and 100 bucks.

Wallstreet372975d ago

Sammarshall...

Did you really just compare console only games to VR specific games and ask why ppl want it? Have you not been reading anything about VR or the previews? You cannot even quantify the level of immersion one feels when a game is VR simulated. The graphics arent the big pitch but the level of immersion. You know like, feeling like your actually in the game, as opposed to playing a game you feel disconnected from.

I could have done a beta on the Google Glass thing. I did not for two reasons. One, they wanted me to pay for the things. I mean, almost $2000 if I remember right. Noway would I pay to beta something. Then, I read about how it will be bad for yours eyes. Something about, it does not give your eyes enough distance for them to focus. That, OR, having a display in one eye while the other is free, is bad. So, it has me wondering how well the VR will work? I had a brain injury in 03 and was left with 8% of my vision. This, after first waking up, after a 6 week coma blind. So, I don't know, I really do not want something that will damage my eyes. Though, I did randomly start welding in June. haha I guess I will wait and see what people say. Though, I am a nut, I know the date and time a site will start the pre orders. My dumb ass will probably pre order. Even though, I do not need the camera or the move controllers.

remixx1162975d ago

I enjoyed your story homie.

rainslacker2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

Light is light regardless of it's distance to your eye. Whether it originates 2" or 2 million miles away, when it hits your eye, it is simply a wave of light, and your eye will use it in the same way. Artificial light will not damage your eyes unless it emits certain kinds of radiation, which LED screens do not. Your eyes shouldn't be something to be concerned about.

As far as the brain, it can interpret the images coming into each eye individually, and knows when to interpret them separately, and VR, or Google glass is unlikely to cause brain damage to a healthy brain.

Your issues may come from only having 8% of your vision though, as VR is pretty pointless for those that can't focus on the actual image, and people that don't have corrected vision for instances of one bad eye(I'm partially blind in one eye) will have to train their brain to interpret the images into seeing a 3D environment. It'll be harder for me due to my good eye compensating for the degraded image in the other, however VR works on the same principals as normal depth perception and both images are essentailly the same, just from slightly different angles.

For the aforementioned people, they learn to do it with 2D images, so unless they're completely blind in one eye, there is really no nothing involved which will cause any kind of physical impairment. Most of the physical side effects are simply psychological, as the brain works by expecting things to happen to the body in relation to it's experience with similar phenomenon in the past, or through hard coded deep seeded instincts to protect the body from harm which is why nausea can happen for some.

The human brain is quite remarkable in how much it can adapt to new things.

nosferatuzodd2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

Dude coma brain injury 8% eye vision dam you're my hero real talk fam just hearing about your trouble and you beat something like that inspired me and give me strength

Bathyj2975d ago

We dont need broad sweeping statements like this one. I think PSVR is going to sell more than the other two by virtue of its value and position but proclaiming its "won the war" already is just being deliberately provocative, and not everyone whose a fan or will support it thinks like this.

Just my two cents, dont spend it all in one place.

FlexLuger2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

I was gonna go with the rift for PC...but maybe sony will win the VR war. They have the better support and momentum. Im only going to by one VR headset if even do consider it. Its a case of superior tech on PC vs the unrivalled support for sony in the VR space which may lead to some big exclusives. Ill be watching how both do in the wild before I put any money down on one. I want to see how people raect to them. There are still side effects of VR that I dont think has been discussed enough. But we will see how it all looks in a year time.

That battlezone VR game though...love the tron style visuals...That alone could sell me on PSVR along with GT...but on the PC side of things I could be playing eve at better than PS4 settings and NMS. It will be the exclusives that sell me on VR just as much as performance. price is not so much of an issue for me.

ONESHOTV22975d ago

it's true that sony has good dev support but the question now is will sony use them look at what they did with the vita i can see the same thing played over again.

FlexLuger2975d ago

I dont think it will end up like the vita. Sony seem all hands on deck with this and they will probably have all their AAA teams working on VR games.

And more importantly they seem to have beaten occulus and vive on price...but the real question is; Do console gamers spend that kind of money on a peripheral? historically no...not at that price. But we will see.

For me it will be the games that decide. But Im taking a wait and see approach with VR. I still have a few unsanwered questions about it. wont find those answers until I try it.

Wallstreet372975d ago

Its all about sales and potential, if they see PSVR selling out or at a fast pace or above projectios bet your life it will get tons of support. Not only that if it does good ps5 will be made around it. I don't see not backing a horse tht looks to be coming out the gate hard and fast.

crazychris41242975d ago

My gut feeling is when Sony was losing a ton of money years ago they had to decide between supporting the Vita or the PSVR. More 1st party games would have given the Vita a boost but the future isn't exactly bright for dedicated handheld gaming devices. VR is a little more risky but has the potential to be the next big thing especially when they have the only VR device for consoles.

Kaneki-Ken2974d ago

The difference is that PlayStation treating the VR as a console compare to PsVita in which was treated worst than Psp. Plus Playstation can't give up on VR since they might lose a lot of money, because they finally started to make profit again for many years and not so long ago they were in the red.

Kaneki-Ken2975d ago

NaughtyDog did mention that they are not doing VR. But if Playstation want a VR version and their is a great demand from the fans, they could hired Bluepoint or another developers to Remastered it for VR.

ONESHOTV22975d ago

what would that solve 1 game will not give PSVR a long life as i said same thing with the vita

Ravenor2975d ago

Not without a lot of corners cut.

DefenderOfDoom22975d ago

I also enjoyed watching the Battlezone VR game . I remember playing Atari Battlezone in the Arcade, back in the early 80's .

garrettbobbyferguson2975d ago

"Win the VR war"

There is no winning any "war" for a device that is closed off to a single system.

Sony Patents To Prevent You From In-Game Harassment By Reading Your Emotions

A new patent recently published by Sony wants to gather biometric data of gamers to track whether one is being harassed using AI tools.

Profchaos18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

I hope this is one of those patents that never comes to fruition.

I already dislike the fact you can pay a significant amount for a online service buy associated games and content on said service and get banned from that service over potentially a misunderstanding the bans are already handed out for flimsy reasons

I'd rather see money invested in a ban that simply removes the offensive players ability to communicate with unknown players allow them to continue party chats with friends but not with Joe blow on cod.

exputers18d ago

Agreed. Blizzard recently banned a college Overwatch 2 player who's dependent for saying "shit." Pretty harsh.

Profchaos17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

How rediculas really. You can't say a word that's allowed in most PG films and prime time TV but the game is based around killing the enemy team using guns, explosives etc.

It's just backwards.

just_looken17d ago

What your talking about is called block list

In 2006 a spaceship dropped of the playstation 3/xbox 360 i say that that generation was the last great gen with game functions/tech that has yet to comeback

Anyhow the playstation 3 if you block listed a id they could not talk to you in chatroom with either text or voice. But that was pre mind fucked 2018 when people were more human than sheep.

But hey gta 6 is coming out billion dollar budget without a single player custom character creator and without singeplayer coop off/online something saints row 1-3 had on the xbox 360.

Take my social security and bank account numbers too! Here’s a picture of my wife and our address.

phoenixwing18d ago

Cmon where's the pictures of your children. Don't hold out on them.

H918d ago

At this rate I feel Sony will eventually sell a room to play games in it where they can monitor your every breath

jambola18d ago

I genuinely get a bit worried sometimes when a friend says something that could be offensive In a party
Because I have no trouble believing some bans would happen when in a private party for saying something wrong

SegaSaturn66918d ago

I want them to censor erotic content by measuring my groin temperature so i dont get too distracted while playing black ops 2.

Popsicle18d ago

Terrible idea. Not only do I not consent to providing my biometric data, the potential for mishandling biometric data is almost a certainty. Positive stress and negative stress can produce similar changes in biometrics. Interpreting the precise emotion a person is feeling is not only invasive but could be easily misconstrued. I hope this never comes to fruition.

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg18d ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Profchaos18d ago

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder

PassNextquestion18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

I think if used correctly it could work well

jambola18d ago

cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me
