when i played this game on my buddys 360 i couldnt beleive the limited amount of maps and game modes...Each map played a certain game mode if i remember correctly

Porting to the Xbox 360 is EASY from a PC game. Porting to the PS3 is not. That's why they had EA do it. Why would they support a port that failed and had little sales? Why would they waste time developing for a platform that will have little to no sales? The orange box sold just a couple hundred thousand copies for the PS3 and over a million for the 360.

I already traded in my PS3 version of the Orange Box. I only really cared for Portal. I'll be getting that Portal game on the XBL Marketplace when it comes out along with Left 4 Dead, but that's all I really care for out of Valve. They're really too big on themselves nowadays. I wish all devs supported their titles more, but they truly only seem to care about the money (minus a few exceptions such as Bungie).

Regardless of who did the PS3 version, TF2 is still an IP associated with Valve and as such this poor support for the product only reflects bad on them.
I really couldn't care less what Valve does as I have never supported them or their products, but this behavior on their part really doesn't bode well for my consumption of anything they release in the future. I guess when the fat man Newell or whatever his name is spoke he was expressing the feelings of Valve as a whole toward the PS3 and Sony, truly sad to see this sort of thing in the video game industry today.

agreed. i'm a PS360 owner too, and opted for Orange Box on the 360 mainly because the previews had already deemed that version to be best. i traded it in after a few weeks of play. i just found Half Life 2 be be overrated; not bad, but overrated. it took about two weeks for me to try Portal, which imo is the best game Valve has made to date. but a two-to-three hour puzzler wasn't enough for me to keep the game. never tried TF, nor really had the desire to.

in any event this is a serious disservice to PS3 owners. part of me doesn't care because a) i'm no big fan of Valve's, and b) even if i were i still have the 360 which they support. however, a huge part of me is pissed. you kinda expect console makers and publishers to screw gamers, but not developers.

You also seem forget that the ps2's problems were not as widespread as 360 problems, and were fixed asap. I had a nearly launch ps2 that worked perfectly for 3 years until it stopped reading ps1 games, it would still read ps2 games though. And my 2cd ps2(also a fat model) worked for 5 years with no problem.

Not sure, but I do know the fail rate of launch 360's surpasses 33%.

The content wont cost anything. Valve has stated that they strongly believe in FREE DLC. The game is practically dead on XBL anyway. Took over 20 minuted to get a party of only 6 ppl. All with out mics i might add. Its fun, but very limited as of now, this update will be a very welcomed change.

Microsoft is a software company, thus will provide the most best and easy tools to develop for their system. Even if the hardware itself is more evolved.

Sony on the other hand is known not to deliver the best support with their hardware. That was the problem on the PS2, that is the problem on the PS3, that will be the problem on the PS4.

So you can expect the same the next round of new consoles. Why should 360 owners ignore a great game that TF2 is with great support from Valve? If Valve gets love from the installed base on the 360, they will certainly support the next gen XBOX.

i'm a console gamer at heart, but i've always respected PC gaming for constantly pushing technology forward.

i remember staring in absolute AWE when my friend showed me videos of Valve demonstrating their physics and graphics engine for Half Life 2.

i remember upgrading my video card so i could play HL2 on my PC and rushing out and buying the game asap. and i respected Valve for being one of the best PC developers in the industry.

but their behavior in the console circuit has me disgusted, and they have lost all respect from me.

i understand if you have your development preferences, but if that was the case, pull an Itagaki and ONLY develop for the 360 and PC, instead of shoveling PS3 versions of your games at Playstation owners and leaving them with a subpar game because your heart wasn't into it.

i refused to buy Orange Box, and i won't buy Left 4 Dead either (i own a 360 as well). i refuse to support Valve with my money.

Valve is supposed to be a BUSINESS. what they are doing now is not good for business, or their reputation. it's a shame that most Playstation 3 owners don't peruse gaming sites and learn of how they are being shafted with an inferior product because Valve just doesn't give a f*ck about them.

whatever, there are plenty of developers that are actually putting in the effort to bring some AMAZING stuff to the PS3, so it's really no loss on Playstation fan's parts, truth told.

14 million PS3 users isn't exactly a tiny user base.

especially when that user base is EVENLY DISTRIBUTED worldwide, which is conducive to a better worldwide business.

the 360 is floundering in Japan, and in the UK it's being surpassed by the PS3.

the US is it's only stomping ground, and what were to happen to Valve's profit if the 360 is suddenly outsold in it's home territory by the PS3? need i remind you that the PS3 OUTSOLD the 360 for 2007 by roughly 1 million units, and so far, it's outsold the 360 for 5 out of 7 months WORLDWIDE, INCLUDING it's home territory?

they days of the tried and true "but teh, teh, teh userbase is BIGGERERRRR on the 360! WAH WAH" is done.

the PS3 is just as profitable an endeavor as the 360 is, and that will only IMPROVE, while the 360's sales and lead over the competition plateaus.

which console is constantly announcing new software and services? which console has 30 first and second party developers working on exclusive titles that cater to a broad range of gamers, not just the multi-player shooter fanatics? which console has a fanbase of practically 100million + users just WAITING for a reason to upgrade?

reasons like the SOCOM series. the Gran Turismo Series. the Sly Cooper series. the Jak and Daxter series. the God of War series. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus fans. Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy fans. the Wipeout fans. the Twisted Metal fans.

those series HAVE YET to make their "next gen" debut, and when they do, expect those fans to start flocking to the PS3.

it happened with MGS4. it happened with Ratchet and Clank: TOD (those games were never huge sellers, and yet Tools of Destruction sold over 1 million units).

and even though those franchise titles are still waiting in the wings, Sony's many developers STILL manage to throw new quality IPs our way like Heavenly Sword, Resistance 1&2, Motorstorm 1&2, Uncharted, Heavy Rain, inFamous, Little Big Planet, and so many quality PSN titles it's ridiculous.

all games that appeal to a large group of gamers, with varying tastes.

what will the excuse be when "the install base" isn't an issue (which is quickly becoming the case).

when you have the head of a company like Gabe Newel saying, and i quote:

"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It’s really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted. I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a ‘do over’. how the flying frick do you expect Playstation fans to react and take it, when a DEVELOPER, people that are supposed to put quality gaming above fanboyism are stooping to such lows?

This is typical Valve, They won't admit PC gaming is not doing so well right now (and its not compared to consoles) and just support 360 because its easy money.

I really dislike Valve, Ea is ok and I do not fault them for this but Valve is missing out on a large crowd because they are stuck up, close minded, and lazy.

It is PERFECTLY fine to release L4D on just 360 but since TF2 WAS RELEASED on PS3, it should get EVERY SINGLE update. I don't care if EA ported it, Valve should still make SOME SORT OF EFFORT.

Sigh this is stupid, as a 360 owner that is unfair really... the update for one still sucks for the OJ box... maybe thats why they are not doing this for the PS3 because they didnt update the OJ box for the TF2 therefore they cant have this update? who knows but i think its Bull... personally though ill play all valve games on the PC, they are more like computer games to me and not console... except maybe left 4 dead ill get on 360..
