GamersFTW writes: "At GDC 2016, Deadelic Entertainment Studio West have revealed details of their upcoming game, entitled The Long Journey Home."
The Long Journey Home focuses on RPG elements that are used by classic space adventures such as Starflight and Star Control II while being a part of a universe that is influenced by modern Science Fiction such as Firefly and Farscape.
During the Daedalic Days in Hamburg, Gamepressure had a chance to see The Long Journey Home – the debut of Daedalic West studio. Although we are nowhere near being short on survivals, this one is particularly interesting due to its great emphasis on diplomacy.
Daedalic Entertainment is bringing this new space exploration title to PC as its first collaboration with newly opened studio Daedalic Studio West.
So the plot to Star Trek: Voyager and countless other Sci-fi projects already? I am a sucker for space exploration games though...
Definitely sounds a lot like Farscape. I used to love that show as a kid, a game with a similar premise sounds superb.
Looks very interesting, had no idea about this game but will keep it on my radar now! It seems space is the place to be in gaming atm!
Seems like an interesting game, will be looking forward to seeing more about it in the future.
Need more abandoned space ship/stations type games, what this game reminds me of, you can't beat the Alien movie like atmosphere, everything is so quiet, you can only here the steam coming out of the broken metal pipes as the ships slowly breaks down around you, then you here an echo of a strange noise in the far distance, subtle horror atmosphere off course, not the in your face, quick, loud and ugly looking generic monster that runs at you every 5 minutes, surviving can be survival horror all by itself.
Btw, System Shock remake incoming early 2017 check it out if you haven't and you like the "in space no one can year you scream genre" of games.
Spread the word
Love the premise, not sure if I'm 100% on board with the rogue-like elements it suggests. Something like this could be an amazing, story-driven experience with random encounters littered through. If it becomes too much like a rogue-like, it could dilute the impact and meaning of the story. Looks interesting though.
