Elite Dangerous Confirmed for Oculus Rift Launch

Frontier Developments has announced that the hugely popular Elite Dangerous will support the Oculus Rift upon the launch of the head-mounted display (HMD) later this month.

I read somewhere that Elite Dangerous is one of the few VR games that actually induces motion sickness, especially since Horizons release with planetary landing and exploration. I hope that have been able to fix the issue though, as I would love to play this in VR.

I'm not sure this is something they can necessarily "fix." From what I've heard, and the brief time I've spent with VR, it seems that either you get motion sick or you don't (though, with some games it may have to do with the FOV, but that seems easy to remedy). Some people will have a higher tolerance for motion sickness, others will need to build a tolerance, and unfortunately some may never be able to play some VR games because of motion sickness. It's a new technology, I think people will be able to acclimate to it over time.

Motion sick is pretty much gone for Oculus CV1 . im using dk2 and i don't get that kind of problem. If you get car sick or sea sick easily then thats different story.

Yeah I get car sick sometimes, there are some rides and roller coasters that make me really motion sick. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be good for VR though! I have to be o.0

This is a great space exploration game.

Markdn194d ago

Shame it's no longer supported though, :(

anast194d ago

A revive might be needed.

MrNinosan194d ago (Edited 194d ago )

What do you mean by quietly?
They announced it last week along the other games that was released yesterday on PS+ Extra/Premium.

GamerRN193d ago

They are trying to make it look like a casual drop, while trying to make it look like it outshines Starfield.

ModsDoBetter194d ago

Great game, sadly abandoned by the developers due to the different version it ran compared to PC.

Plenty of hours to be had, we just miss out on a bunch of cool features and story development compared to PC players.

raWfodog194d ago

I was bummed when they announced they wouldn’t be bringing Odyssey to consoles. That was when I really began losing active interest in the game. Up until then, I already had about 800 hours invested in the game.

PunksOnN4G194d ago

Nah I'm good this the dev team that had console plans then decided not to and only work on the PC version why would I support a trash company

z2g194d ago (Edited 194d ago )

its ok. its def a pc game that made its way to console randomly. been out for a few years so its not exactly "new".
