VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "The period from 1989 to 1993 was a time of rapid development on practically all fronts for the industry. The transition from 2D to 3D had begun in earnest and CD-Roms started to overtake the cartridge as the preferred way to store games. PC saw the inception of numerous entirely new genres and many already existing ones got their most beloved classics during these years. Sega and Nintendo were fighting against each other on the console front, trading blows more or less equally, but a new rival was about to emerge; one that would eventually change the face of the entire industry, much like Nintendo had done in the past."
How do composers make the iconic music tracks from games that we love? And just what makes them so memorable?
Twitter is blowing up right now
All games coming to PlayStation
Next Xbox will have steam
Next Xbox niche and only for “gamers who want it” (it’s a really powerful pc or a steam deck type portable, or both)
Trevor Walker said: Fighting games have always been able to simultaneously experiment and innovate while staying true to their roots in the best of ways. Mechanics change, crossovers take place, and evolution occurs. One of the best examples of all three can be seen in the coveted guest character.
The fighting genre is full of mini-games, from Street Fighter's car destruction to Tekken Ball. Here's the best Mortal Kombat mini games.
Yeah, I'm kinda older and I remember Intellivision vs Atari...a commercial had them comparing sports games and Pacman as I remember it...and the dude said packy you look kinda pale
Had Turbo Grafx 16 released in 1987 like it did in Japan, im sure it wouldve gained a much bigger audience.. That 2 years could've really helped it grow because games end up looking dated by the time they get localized.. Publishers should take note of that so they work with devs on the localization process from the get go..Its too late now regardless..
TG16 is one of my favorite consoles.. But japan gets everything 1st and games dont get butchered before launching everywhere else.. Those were good times non the less.. Im glad i grew up in that era and witnessed this evolution of gaming.. I still prefer the 8-32 bit era the best because it seems like nothing has changed or gotten better other than graphics.. The Souls series are probably the only games i really give a damn about thats recent.. Sure theres some other really good games but nothing like those right now i hold in high regard..
