Eurogamer:
"Apart from the length, the lack of new weapons is also disappointing. The wrench abilities are nice, but they're no substitute for a new Groovitron. Instead we get old favourites the Predator Launcher (allowing you to direct a few targeted rockets while dodging incoming fire), and the trusty old Combuster and Fusion Grenades, along with the Tornado Launcher, Shock Ravager, Nano-Swarmers and the Alpha Cannon, most of which are simply given to you, rendering all the bolt-collection largely moot. There's no Trophy support either - apparently the game was already complete when Sony patched in the PS3's new Achievement-esque reward system.
Which doesn't leave a lot to be enthusiastic about, as we can only mention the wrench abilities so many times. Quest for Booty is a solid, funny little platform game with good camerawork and controls so long established that their pristine execution scarcely warrants mention, but it feels so much like a regular Ratchet & Clank game that it's jarring to discover it ends so quickly, leaving us to damn it over and over again with faint praise. At GBP 9.99 it's probably worth it for a couple of evenings of entertainment, but for all the respawning swashbucklers and the catchy Pirates of the Caribbean style theme tune, it's could really do with another significant hook."
20th Anniversary Armor Pack arrives today for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart; more games coming to PlayStation Plus Premium November 15.
Man... what i wouldnt give to have a full PS5 UHD of all the R&C games in one collection. i guess streaming them on PS+ is the next best thing (or naturally a PS3)
They couldn’t make PS2 versions of those R&C games like they did with the J&D games?
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is amazing. I really hope Insomniac are working on more. I'm always up for another Ratchet & Clank game.
From Xfire: "Insomniac Games first introduced the unlikely duo of Ratchet and Clank back in 2002 on the PlayStation 2. Since then, the series has taken audiences on a journey that has spanned not just an entire galaxy, but multiple dimensions, with its most recent outings."
Best games of the franchise are Up Your Arsenal, A Crack in Time, 2016 Remake and without a doubt the newest one Rift Apart. You simply can’t go wrong with these.
Man what a glorious game series.
Only ones I don't like as much are all 4 one and full frontal assault other than that all games are awesome( even these are good games just not up to the standard of other games in the series)
Nice article, good list, they're all fun & I love this game!
Rift Apart is spectacular.
Insomniac are wizards, I want their next game to be a new Resistance. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next.
I'm looking forward to playing Rift Apart then the whole series sometime afterward. Up Your Arsenal is my favourite
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty is typically regarded as one of the worst in the Ratchet & Clank series, and it’s clear why after playing it over the Holiday season. It is only set in one world with little story to be be had, the level design can be frustrating, and the lack of weapons (and anything new) make this short 3-hour entry worth skipping in the series.
An amazing series and this will be no different, but even at this stage I can say openly it is time to do something "BIG" again. When I was walking around planets in full 3-d traversal on R&C2, 5 to 6 years before Galaxy was even thought up, that was great.
They need to do something big again. I only hopethey can do something for the next big release, other than awesome graphics. I want to see user generated content or full 3-d real time space traversal. As in going from one planet to the other in real time.
7/10... not bad considering this is a downloadable title that isn't very long.
If it has the same pristine controls, camera and style as seen in the other games then heck yeah it's a must have for me. I loved all of the weapons in Tools of Destruction and if this has them all then I am all about it. Sounds like it will be a blast.
Well considering they only gave the amazing original an 8/10, I guess 7/10 is respectable from these guys. But I've never liked or agreed with their reviews on anything really, so I'll be waiting for a better review site before I guess weather this worth buying. Given how muchg I enjoyed the last title, and that this is 1/4 of the porice of a full size game, I'll probably pick it up!
£10 for gameplay no-one else in the industry offers?
Fine, I'll take it. Mind you 7/10 is an amazing score for such a bitesized game.
