Tom from GamersFTW writes: "Now that it has been a few weeks since Street Fighter V launched to widespread critical acclaim but general consumer damnation, many of us have moved on to new topics to debate and games to look forward to. This article details why we shouldn’t be so quick to shrug our shoulders and forget about the Street Fighter V launch debacle, as there is a tangible risk that it will set an alarming precedent for video game releases."
Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.
Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.
SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.
SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.
I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.
Street Fighter documentary 'Here Comes a New Challenger' is now available for all, following a successful crowd funding campaign.

Round One: FIGHT!!
Because Capcom is the one that started this with Street Fighter V, eh? Give me a break, Destiny started this crap and then we saw a slew of other games do the same.
But at least Capcom is giving us most of the upcoming content for free.
While Pieces of Crap like Bungie are telling us to pay for tons of content that should have been in the game.
I agree that Capcom by no means started this, but they have built upon the dubious foundations constructed by other companies. Activision is the publisher of Destiny, though, so they'll be the ones making those sort of business decisions.
The difference with Street Fighter V, in my opinion, is how it's completely divided critics and consumers, and yet will probably escape relatively unscathed. Regardless of whether the extra content is charged for or free, we are still being given a game with absolutely no single player campaign whatsoever at launch, and expected to pay full price for it.

Release a quarter of the game, sell a bunch of copies, use that money to finance the remainder of the content. Sounds like a profit proof buisness plan that's terrible for consumers. Instead of the buisness paying interest on loans they can get the money interest free from the consumers.....
Let's be serious and not act like this is something new, or something that will start some dangerous trend, just because Street Fight V has some issues. Some journalist always wants to pounce on the current problem and blow it up into something bigger, as if they were completely oblivious to the whole industry prior.
