Uncharted 4 Delay: What Does This Mean for Other Games?

Jo from GamersFTW writes: "The news was broken yesterday by PlayStation that the long awaited final (maybe) instalment of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be once again be delayed. Whatever the reason, the general consensus among fans is that it is a little annoying that we have to wait even longer for a game after a release date has been announced. On the other hand, there has been a lot of positivity around it as now that this game has been pushed back, it frees up some playing time for others that are due to be released around the original date of March 27th."

Never really understood why people complain about delays. You'll get the damn game when it's done. Surely you want it to be released without any problems cropping up. Sometimes I feel for the industry, they're doomed if they do, and doomed if they don't.

The delay is only by a couple of weeks so it isnt a big deal. The official reason is that they need more time to manufacture enough copies to avoid any shortages at launch which is a good enough reason. However, I think the real reason might be that they want to give Ratchet and Clank some breathing space and some time on the stage all to itself. People have expressed the concern in the past that Uncharted 4 will most likely overshadow Ratchet and Clank by releasing so close. This will help Ratchet and Clank to retain spotlight for longer and gain some more sales.

If that were the case they would have delayed ratchet and clank. Lesser demanding games work around the big sellers, not the other way around.

Except if people buy UC4 first then they may feel like they're good with their allotted game purchases, as is people who were going to buy UC4 are still going to buy it and now they may feel like picking up RC when they weren't going to.

Yea I can understand 11 days more to wait is sooo annoying.... that is if it was a game for my kid that she d go into a tantrum to have it straight away.

I think the real tragedy is so many games nowadays suffer delay after delay and still launch broken and/or lacking features. That is unacceptable to me, anyway. I don't have any such concerns with Naughty Dog...they haven't let me down yet, so I always give them a benefit of the doubt that other devs don't get.

This game is different. We will wait for this b/c it takes precedence over almost everything else. Other games may run in to a bunch of problems with delays. U4 will not.

Take all the time you need ND. The final product will be amazing like all their previous installments. Anyways, it gives me more time with Dark Souls 3 and Quantum Break and I'll have Uncharted 4 all by itself in May.

In a way I'm glad about the delay because now it releases 5 days before my birthday, which I have a week off for. I've been waiting for this game since the initial announcement so I'm pretty sure an extra two weeks won't kill me!

Im actually glad its released worldwide at the same date. Difficult to avoid spoilers when games are release 2 or 3 days later in the UK

I'm not like most I think for me R@C was a day 1 buy and play even if they came out the same time I would play R@C first.

well with dark souls 3 R&C then UC4 then after that DOOM... i'll be buying them all as for time to play them..... Ummm its going to be countless hours to finish them all that is for sure!
